I think an LS1 would take alot of the fun out of it.
There's nothing better for my money than hounding a big-bore car for a lap, getting the point-by, go honking on by with something that sounds like a superbike motor and spitting a big ball of flame at them on the upshift... and then having them stop by your pit afterwards to stare into the engine compartment trying to figure out WTF.

+1
No doubt the v8 is a great upgrade but a well done single will do the job and you're still keeping a rotary where it belongs. Also I love the smooth power band, great sound and like Pete said the theatrics are priceless.
If there was someone selling a nice v8 track car I'd certainly consider it but as long as there are nice single turbo FDs available that's the card I'll continue to play

If you click on vid link there should be some VIR N course videos.
NASA is doing a TT on the N course course that weekend so there's a chance I'll be there on Saturday and Sunday and possibly Friday if I decide to get some more track time.

BMW VIR North Course 7/5,6,7/2007
One word to describe this event HOT!!!!!!
The heat was killing me because I had a NASTY cold but still managed to squeeze out a good time
Like the old saying goes; even a bad day at the track is a good day
Fortunately I was blessed with a healthy FD and some great students which made things much much easier on this sick old man.
In case I forgot to mention it the track was hot and the tires were GREASY so no track records were broken. 1.41s or 40s without traffic. Video of a clean lap is up.
Video title: BMW VIR N HOT 95 degrees Dated the 8th

I was driving on some Hancook z211s which are pretty decent tires (comparable to ra1s) and these are currently discontinued and selling for a discount from suppliers who still have them. My front pads were Abestas (sp?) aggressive variety (more rotor friendly then other cheap pads like blues) that work ok and are cheap but dust like crazy however you can easily wipe the dust off. I had blues on the rear. The blues always tear up my rotors even on the rear so my next set of rear pads will be some PFC 97s and I'll splurge and get some 01s for the front.
Pete,
Please post that part # again for the PFC rear pads
PS I also uploaded a video from the June VIR Marquee event on the full course but just when things got interesting the tape ran out. I was trying to catch up to a well driven t1 and eventually caught him but he wasn't about to let me by so a serious battle ensued, IT WAS ON and the red mist was heavy hehe. It always seems like the best sessions rarely make it on tape

Near the end it looks like there was some point-by signal confusion. Appeared the Vette signaled over the roof and the M darted to the right to pass and the Vette was still there. Also, I couldn't tell what flag that was being thrown.
You are making me want to get back there! Not until after the house roof is fixed though.

Another great video though!

The flag waving was the checker so the session ended. I think the m coupe was getting just a LITTLE frustrated though hehe.

Fritz, are you "done" until the fall?
These hot temps are discouraging me (even w/ my new IC), but I wanted to do one day at least before WGI because I want to kill that set of Hoosiers... they won't likely make it through the entire WGI weekend, but I hate to waste the time left on them.
All the FATTs and Seat Times were at crappy dates this year.

It's a full NASA weekend with racing, and HDPE (all groups). Registration for HPDE has been filled for months though they still have time trial, hyperdrive (single session) and open track slots available. Also, GRM is doing their Ultimate Track Car Challenge that Friday at VIR as well so I'm thinking I might show up early for that.

Most likely my next event will be in Aug or Sept.

I'm most likely done until September. Although I'm thinking about doing a two day PCA event at Road Atlanta in August- I have a free place to stay and it is 300 bucks for two days, but Atlanta in August might be brutal.
You two missed Chin this year. Great weather and a great group as always. There was a little blood the first day at the top of the esses where they installed the new wall to protect the condos.
Got the times down in the 993. My best time was a 2:17.89 during the open lap at the end of the day = very hot intake temps. Plus, I got close to 400 track miles in two days. I ate up that open track time and burned an *** load of fuel

and one of me just passing a new M5
sucka
Here is a video from Ram's car. You can see I went off in hog pen then Ram almost bit it at oak tree. I'll have to post video of me playing w/ a new 997 GT3 and a Carrera GT

My line was pretty bad going into the roller coaster and the grip level just wasn't there that weekend. Everyone was talking about it, but I think my cups are dead...time to hit tire rack up...cha ching

Looks even better in person
Carbon fiber bits all over the interior and of course it's a 993 with that sexy wide *** so you get a chubby everytime you walk up to it
Pat,
If I didn't have so many days on the full course I'd of been there infecting you with my cold and let me add that it's some kind of messed up freaky bug cause I'm still not over it.
You missed sliding it through Stevie Wonder though
That is such a fun turn

Fritz, I hear you about the full course. That's kind of why I want to do RA. There were two nasty FDs at Chin. We were running similar lap times so I never really saw them on track. I'll give you a shout this weekend.
oooh, I forgot to tell ya. I was asked to do some sort of instructor school. I can almost taste the free track time!

I think my next one is just going to be WGI guys... Brett's doing the entire rear-end's worth of bushings, and I'll be doing the whole front, then It'll be time for shocks and brake rotors. I need to take care of this stuff, as it's ALL 100k mile original stuff... I probably could've been quicker at PCA if the car didn't feel like a bucket of bolts under braking and at turn in. I'm looking forward to taking a scalpel out next time :-)
Maybe somebody will want to buy the hoo hoos with 1-2ish good days left on 'em.
