Jon,
I'd like to but my wife is leaving for Cincinnati to see the knee specialist so I'll be at home with my little girl. Let me know how it goes though.
Thanks,
Fritz

whast up with her knee....I have some experience in that area, I've had 3 major knee operations.

( and the left wrist, and the right hip, and the left ankle... but those are all for another thread ..hahaha)

...now to relate it to racing, .... it takes me a few squirms to feel comfortable in the racing seat, have to get all my 'under construction' joints in a painless spot :-)

The poor girl has had 5 in 2 years and 7 total on the same knee. It's a story of gargantual proportions so I won't even try.

Sorry to hear you've experience some of the same type torture I'm sure she could totally relate.

OK back to racing: I got the tires and I'm sure they will be fine. I'm going to leave mine on and see how it goes and if they are terrible I'll put yours on. I also have 2 victos with 4 days and I just bought 2 more which I will have mounted and bring those as well. Can't wait. G&W is a really special event because of all the cool cars that show up. There will probably be a dozen cup cars, ferraris, viper comps, bmw and porsche prototypes etc....Yee HAA

It does suck for autocross though.
Sorry to drag this up from the past but why is a big front bar good for this car? I was always under the assumption that a big front bar would cause more understeer. My extremely limited track experience is with an Integra Type-R and understeer has always been a problem as it's a FF, especially through tight corners and hairpins.

By the way, great thread guys. I'm learning a lot just from reading your posts.

>>that a big front bar would cause more understeer

for a tight suspention/high power track FD you end up with oversteer, especially under throttle, so a bigger front bar (adding understeer to the oversteer condition) balances it back out.

A bigger bar does push the car more towards understeer but the FD tends toward oversteer to begin with. The real point of adding a bigger front bar to a rear wheel drive car is rear wheel traction. The larger front bar will keep more load on the inside rear tire at corner exit and allow greater traction without having to make any spring adjustments to the rear. Compared to an FD with a stock front bar my car can put down much more power coming out of corners.

The larger front bar on the FD isn't about the front, it's about putting power down at the rear.

FWD cars are tougher because most of their weight is over the front tires and those same tires are driving and steering. That car is going to push any chance it gets.

Yup.. Its too much to ask the front of the car to do.. The bulk of the braking, All of the power forward and also turn the car as well.

It makes sense now and I suppose the reason for not adding a big rear bar to load the inside rear tire is that it'll put too much load on the outside rear tire. I'm sure that I'll eventually put in a big front bar but I need some track time with the 7 before I can feel the benefits of the bar.

Prime example of one of my classic shining moments: I go to VIR today and find out that the G&W event was last weekend

I never checked the schedule because it's been on the weekend after Thanksgiving for the past 3 years but appartently too many people complained so they moved it back a week.

Reminds me of my college days when I would actually forget to go to an exam

Hey, I'd love to if you have an email for him, or phone number.............

I saw a couple of posts on him on the Radical forum, which no one basically participates in................I thought I recognized the name but didn't know why............

Those Stohr's are friggin beautiful...........probably the best looking car going..........but we definitely wanted the two seater set up...........ya know, for wives, kids, groceries.............etc..............

David,
Man that sounds like one hell of a radical you guys are getting. Give us some details. HP, weight, brakes, etc....

I think the new Diasio with the rotary could be pretty fun

My black car is still for sale for 16k but I'm in no hurry to sell. It's slowly becoming a base model track car. I'll try to get it as light a possible without spending money and see what kind of lap times a stock FD can pull. It probably weighs about 2725 right now with stock wheels and Hoosiers.

Keep us all posted with updates on your radical escapades.

Happy Holidays,
Fritz

Oh, btw, I agree on those Diasio's .................if it weren't for our two seater wish, I'd be all over one of those.....................

Good luck with the FD sale and happy holidays as well.................

Can't wait til December 18th and 19th, our first time out in the Radical at Sebring.............can't wait to be on a track I know................I was running around 2:37 in the FD last time out...................my immediate goal will be about 2:25 to start with, and then work my way down into the teens...............they say this car will do around 2:05 with the "right" driver............which is absolutely INSANE...............I think I'd have to freebase some testosterone to even dream about those kinds of times...................we're just gonna keep it safe and fun..............

C-ya.

OH, I forgot I've been messing with Photoshop to spice up the all white car a little............

Here's a couple of things I've come up with...............(car in rear of photo).........

I think I like the blue center strip with gray outside's the best............3rd photo....

And if we were painting the whole car (which we're not)................the british racing green would be the bomb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Man I'm very jealous

I vote for the blue and grey paint.

I think some radicals have run sub two minute laps on the full course at VIR which is pretty quick for any kind of car. I think the lap record there is 1:39 or so which was of course done in an F1.

Anyway I'm sure with enough seat time you'll be thowing that thing around with lots of confidence and running some real quick laps

I had no idea those were so small and light, looks like a lot of fun. I think you should go with a black and red color scheme, but thats just me.

Black and red sounds interesting....................I've def seen some that are all black and they're shweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet..............I'm gonna photoshop some red/black stripes on it and see...........I'll attach when done..........

I'm also thinking about heat in Florida...............and for those mid summer track days it'll be hot enough without adding to the heat with a black car............

Hey, while I've got you guys on the line, ......................are any of you guys using any type of HANS devices?????? Fritz, looks to me from your vids like you don't even use gloves...............just wondering............

David
