TIME TO TUNE! Got a new EGT meter today made by Computech. I hear good things about the meter. Heard about it from Albert. I got the two probes to monitor each rotor. Going to Rene's shop this weekend to weld the bungs on and then it's time to lean this sucker out safely and then...... NOS!

Couple new updates. Went to Rene's and had my bungs welded for my new EGT meter- works awesome! While I was there I did a base dyno run. I made 193 hp to the wheels at only 9000rpms-did not want to push it- yes I know Wacky- I am a *****. Need to tune but I did not have any jets with me so we messed with the timing a little with no luck in more horsepower. Now that I have my EGT meter I can tune at the track. Just installed a new hood scoop tonight. This should really help my top end. Might take the car to the track this thursday to see. Hopefully my new jets will arrive by then. Here's some pics of the scoop.

Installed the new wideband and did some minor tuning and went 8.6 at 83mph in the 8th mile last night with a 2.0 60ft. Engine is screaming and pulling hard. Did some more tunning and then broke another axle on the third run. 9inch is going in next.. stay tuned.

Here's the scoop. I got my new wheels and slicks- 15" weld pro stars on M/T 26x8.5. Made my measurements for my new 9" rearend. Pulling out the old stocker rearend tomorrow and sending it out next week to Currie to have my 9" made. Going with 6.20 gears and 31 spline axles. Also am putting in a turboII trans with rx4 bellhousing and am going to use a custom alluminum driveshaft. No more broken axles!! Time for 9000rpm launches now and aiming for 12 second 1/4 mile pass N/A. Here are some pics. I also made a nice panel in my dash for my A/F meter and EGT meter, looks really good and works even better. Now I can really tune. If you are going to race seriously you have to have both of these, they really helped me tune the engine.

Shortened the shifter on my new TurboII trans. today. It was pretty easy considering my dad had a mill. Second one will be a piece of cake. Here are some pics.

Small update.... my 9" should be finished by this weekend and then I can mount it and make measurements for my new driveshaft to be made. Then all I have to do is fab a new trans. mount bracket and I should be good to go. The hard part in all this was to find a shop to make a 9" for my rx2. I could not find a shop that wanted to even try. Most shops are set up and jigged for muscle cars etc. The big part was the housing brackets. Well, with the help of my Dad and Hoopers we worked something out. My dad is an engineer and has CAD program at his work and he can pretty much do anything on it. So he whipped up some bracket templates for me and we gave them to the rearend shop to have them cut them out on a high pressure water cutter. Once the brackets are made everything else is a piece of cake. Anthony at Hoopers was very pleased on how the brackets came out and hopefully I'll have a good 9" by the end of the week. I was just about to give up on this rearend because no one wanted to work on an old Mazda. So to help out other fellow old schoolers, if anyone wants to go down this road let me know and I can send you copies of the bracket templates. Here is a pic of the templates. Wheelies here I come!

Update... Still waiting for my pinche 9" to be done.-waiting for axles.
I mounted my rx4 bellhousing to the TII trans. and installed the new combo in the car. I had to shave off the sides of the old trans mounting bolt supports to get the trans to fit in the trans tunnel because with the rx4 bellhousing it moves the trans counterclockwise a couple of degrees. With the shifter shortened the TII shifter now sits in the stock location but tilted towards the left a little- not bad. The person who owned the car before me already hacked up the trans. tunnel by the shifter so I am going to make a nice alluminum shifter cover to patch it up. My 9" should be in my hands this week. Here's some pics in the meantime.

Not that easy. I already had the rearend shop send them out and they are already made and welded on my rearend. Plus it depends on what diameter tube you are going to use. With the templates you can just give them to any metal shop and they can cut them out in any diameter and thickness that you want.
