Thanks. Yeah, I now I need a bigger carb and exhaust. What carb do you recommend and what exhaust layout do you recommend?

I'll be right over. hehe. I just yanked the small 37mm chokes out and ran it without any chokes with just the auxilary Venturi's and it bogs at low rpm when I hit the throttle but from 4000rpm and up it screams. I still have to test drive it with a load to really get an idea how it runs. My jetting is this- Main- 220, Air corrector jet is -110, and idling jet is -65. Should I keep the choke out or should I run a choke and what size?

I got my new racing beat road/race header today and 3" RB high flow stainless muffler. I think I am going to go from the header to 3" all the way back to muffler. Or do you think two- 2" pipes all the way back then into one 3" collector to muffler? I hear the dual will give a little more bottom end.

Today's update. Just got the racing beat road/race header installed and went 3"e xhaust frome header to racing beat 3" stainless muffler. I Rene's muffler did the work and boy does he and his pop do good work. Rene also advanced my timing a little and man does it scream now. From 7-9000rpm it pull like a mother and it sounds like not other. I think I may add a resonator because it is so fricken loud my ears are still ringing, but man does it scream. I still need to tune the carb a little more to get more out but I'm a newbie to carb tunning so I'll probably get a wideband installed and mess around with jetting. I notice that when I shut the motor off when it is hot and try to restart a few minutes later it is real hard to start. It feels like it is flooded because I have to floor the pedal to get it to start or let it cool down. Does anyone know why is causing this? I also bored my 37mm chokes out to 40mm with a lathe and it runs better, I may need to go up. My jetting is this- 220 main, 110 air, 65 idler jet and F11 emulsion tubes with 40mm chokes. What do you think of this jetting?

Go richer on the idle jet to prevent stumble at 3K RPM, when the primaries kick in. Venturies are too small.

Thanks Wacky. I tried running the car without the venturies but it was not driveable,so I bored my 37's to 40mm. What do you think I should try next- 42mm? Also, what idler jet-75?

Ok, I'm 99% ready for Sevenstock. I got the 10k tach and guages installed and got my jetting close. Man she pulls like a scalded cat from 6-9000rpm and bottome end is not that bad either. I have my shift light set at 8500 for now. hehe. I bored my chokes out from 40 to 42mm and put the 150 air jet with the 220main. It runs really good. Before I had the 110 air jet and it fell flat at 5000rpm's. RB recommends a 170 air with a 240 main so I am going to try that next, but it runs good now so I am just going to tinker little by little with the jetting to get the max performance. I also am running RB recommended timing of 24L and 5T at 6000rpm. I don't know if this is ideal or not, what are you guys running? Here are some pics of my guages install. Check out where the shift light is. I am pretty proud of coming up with this idea and it looks sweet.

I got it from Rene. I think it is an afco. It could be a little longer to fit perfectly but it does the job.

Told you so. What work for them may not work for you so continue trying out different combinations. Just remember that there are no 2 engines that are alike and keep a log book.

cant wait to see it at Sevenstock. And be sure to a least use a big slurpee cup so no one can see the cold heine.

Well I made it to Sevenstock and it was a blast even though it rained most of the day. It was an awesome turnout. Can't wait till next year.

Took my duece out to the 1/8 mile and got 3 passes. My best time was a 9.5 second with smoking the tires through first, second, and a little in third. My trap speed was 78mph and my 60foot was a pitafull 2.5. My steet tires and my open diff. ain't cutting it. With posi and some 4.88 gears with slicks I will be in the mid to low 8's in the 1/8 and 12's in the 1/4. Not too bad for 12a daily driver.

I'm in dire need of a lsd third member out of an 81-82gsl first gen. Please give me a pm if anyone knows where I can get one. Thanks

Jarrett

Hey fellers, I got a new update. Well the bridgeport motor I bought used turned out to be junk. All the corner springs were flat and the motor had real low compression. I ended up breaking an apex seal so I tore the motor down. The good side is that the motor had the lighter 83-85 rotors but the front counterweight and flywheel were from an 81-82.

Today X-mas came early for me. I got my irons back from being lapped at RAcing beat. I also got my complete race rebuild kit with carbon apex seals. Also got a lightened steel flywheel with sprung 4 puck brass clutch and race pressure plate, 4.88 ring and pinion and LSD, porting templates, and stage 2 suspension kit for my duece.

I should have the motor runnin in a couple of weeks as all the parts are cleaned and ready to go. Just need to reshape the bridgeports and exhaust ports a little and then assemble the new motor. Then I'll throw the ring and pinion in and I am going to do the DIY paint with rust-oleum as my paint is junk. I am going to paint the car orange. This will be my first time so I'll keep you posted on the progress.
Here's a pick of the goods..... Take it easy.

Jarrett

Ported some more on the irons and opened up the exhaust a tad.
Tomorrow I am going to paint the irons and then it's stack time.

Thanks, I'll do that. Right now I have the stock ignition. There are so many people out there with different views on rotary ignitions it's not funny. Some say stock is more than adequate. Other say waste spark with second gen coil, other say waste spark with blaster coils. Some say msd sucks and only use second gen. The list goes on and on . I guess it boils down to trying them all and see what works the best. I am going with the two msd's though.

2 msd's use the magnetic pick up coil wire with the ground. sold seperatly from MSD.. Part # 8862
if you have any questions with the install eliminating the factory igniters send me a pm and i'll send you a write up. msd's work flawlessly when installed correct.
