Got the motor back together with new cleaned up and larger B-ports and exhaust ports and all new seals with lapped irons. This was my first rotary rebuild and it was pretty easy considering I have rebuild lots of piston engines. It's more like rebuilding a transmission. hehe. I am just waiting for a few odds and ends to show up and I should have this thing running soon. I'm shooting for a couple of weeks tops. Here are a few pics.

Well I got it running today and she runs awesome! I have to yank the trans back out because for some reason my clutch is not engaging but the engine runs really good and louder than a mf-er! Here are some pics and later I have an idling video clip I will post. This is my first rebuild so I am pretty proud that at least it runs good. We shall see for how long.... hehe. Enjoy.

Thumbs up If you need any help tuning that bad boy let me know

Jay,

If you need any help tuning that Bridge motor let me know. I know a little bit about tuning weber carburetors.

Also forgot to mention if you or any of your buddies are interested in trading a 48 IDA Weber for a 55 DCO Side draft. These are pretty rare carburetors, but they work really well on Bridge/P-Port motors.

Thanks
Albert

Albert is the king of carbs in LA area.Once you have your car broken in,
bring it over to my shop to see how much HP you make.Or you can tune and
test at the same time.

Today's update. Got the car on the street! I had a clutch problem. Since I moved up to a race pressure plate my old clutch master cylinder and slave blew up. Lucky me, the previous owner of my rx2 already converted the clutch and slave to a 1st gen type. So I got a new clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder and steel braided cable. Bled the system and away I went. I was very surprised on how streetable the 4 puck sprung hub brass button clutch was and race pressure plate. I had no problems driving on the street. NO chatter, you just can't feather the clutch. Let it out and add a little gas and she is as smooth as butter. Engine is running very well and is very responsive. I kept it under 5000 rpm's as I am going to break the engine in right. I still have to install my lsd with the 4.88 ring and pinion but I'll wait till after the break to make it easier on me. hehe. Then it's too the drag strip I go.

Albert, I will definitely hold you up on your offer and thanks too.

Rene, as soon as I break the motor in I will be heading your way for a couple dyno runs for sure.

Your car sounds very nice. Is that a J bridgeported motor or just regular bridgeport. That Gilmer belt sounds awsome. I can't wait to do mine.

Thanks guys. The Bridgeport is a normal bridge. It is the closest you can get to the water seal without running into it.

Update. Last weekend I put in my lsd third member with 4.88 gears. I pretty much have the new ring and pinion gears broken in. Man she really gets up and goes now. It's like driving a motorcycle now. Next up is msd ignition and wideband so I can tune this baby for max horsepower. She is a little rich right now. The motor is breaking in well and seems to getting stronger and stronger. Still haven't been pulled over by any cops yet.

New update. Installed the msd 6al direct fire to leading, stock to trailing. Took the car to Irwindale 1/8th mile drag last night with street tires and ran a best of 8.8 at 80mph, shifting at 8500 to 9000. Still need to tune the car for max hp but it is running well. Could not get traction until my final run and then broke an axle Need help and any info on converting to ford 9" like where is the best deal? I called around and everyone wants 3-4,000 bucks!!!!

Thanks Mel for the axle lead. I bought two stock axles from Hector in the meantime so I can drive the car until I can save enough for a real rearend. I found some 46 chokes so you don't have to tear down your garage for me. LOL.

Yeah, guess I been lurking around at Ausrotary too much.

Ultimatejay: you seriously got me rethinking my whole build for my RX2 now. I might just go the 12A route as well but with a good street-port instead. Figure if I really need boost then I could still use the same block but get some nice manifolds or go way old school and do a blow-through carb setup. I've only ever been in one 12A turbo car but it was plenty quick, especially stop light to stop light.

If you're going that route then I highly recommend getting the Judge ito large streetport. Good for N/a and turbo.
