I messed with the carb to try and get it to smooth out, seems pretty good but still breaks up a bit around 4500rpm. I'm not to familiar with these rotary's so let me know how you think it sounds. It smells a little rich! Also what is an idea idle?

Carlos, once I get the disc conversion and brake system done I will be ready for the road and some fine tuning. I would really like to have someone around to help me dial it in! If it's cool I'll PM you in a few weeks and maybe you can come up and give me a hand. Thanks for the offer.

Thanks Barban! Here the front end conversion completed today, I added the sway bar to help this thing stick to the road. Now I just have to plumb up the brake lines and install master cylinders and it should be road worthy!

The brakes on my beelte look about the same, maybe slightly larger. And they work great. Car weighs 1600lbs. And thats upgraded from the shitty drums it used to have all the way around.

This car is going to be a blast for you. It's going to sound all wrong for any purists you encounter but it will be easy to show them the tail lights and let them whiff the premix as you leave them at will.
Just because of your project, I decided to finally pull the trigger on all the upgrades to my '59. Ordering the Rivergate adapter plate to fit the Datsun 5sp (that has been on my shelf for about a year) to the 1275. She is also getting a whole new interior and I'm powder coating the wire wheels. $2500 I shouldn't be spending on a little British car right now. All this when I have the RX2 torn apart.
Probably sell it when I'm done and make room in the shop for my 323GTX.... hope your happy with yourself.

Yeah those darn vw purists... :p The purists will not like anything from the norm, but if it wasn't for the ppl who enjoy the less common things then newcomers to vw may stray away and say its boring you know? just my 2 cents

I'm glad I could help get that 59 going, I hate to see them sit around and I'm sure someone will snap that thing up when you done. What are you going to ask for it.
I've sold all my project cars shortly after they were done. Someone always offers me enough money and I get bored quickly. I hope to keep this a few years, but you never know.

It will probably be in the 16-18K range. All the mods I've done are the most popular with the A-H enthusiasts. The only 2 things that are iffy are the color and the wiring. I feel the same as you, at this point its my car and I don't like the stock colors the car came with. As for the wiring... I don't know what kind of moron would go through all the trouble to put the same crap back in the car.
Totally correct restorations are asking 18-20K but you end up with a car that is, in my opinion, undrivable, unreliable and a maintenance nightmare. Once the 5sp is in mine I would drive it across the country with no worries.

Yeah the 948cc was a pig at best. And the original colors were just as bad, and the wiring looked like a 5th grader install it. I'm a big fan reliability so you can't go wrong with modern technology upgrades!
