Alright in process of finishing body work and fitting up things. I had to trim the bumper in order to have the body lines lineup. Fitting up the sleek light housings such that the lens are flush with the bodywork and the gaping somewhat even is proving a royal pain. The lens I have aren't exactly correctly shaped and will be needed some shaving to look symetrical.
The hood has it's second coat of 3MPFBF glazing on and should be done sanding by this weekend. With some help I should be done with bodywork by either the end of this weekend or mid next week. And then Paint!

So I see you're on the Steve Kan list... Are yuo planning on finishing the car prior to the tuning session, or will you wait on paint if it's not quite ready?
Gotta love TEIN hood dampers =) And I especially like the to-do list on the fender. Very nice!

I will hopefully have the car at least driveable by that time. As far as being done...maybe.
The list never seems to get shorter, I just find more things I have to do. FYI, never get a headlight kit that isn't a true bolt on assembly. Go with the Knightsports dual light kit that goes into the stock pop up assembly. That's my 0.02 of advice.

They're RE units. I finally got the housings and lens to lineup with the rest of the bodywork. I had to cut into the driver side headlight housing to even get it to drop flush with the bodywork. Somewhat my fault for not compensating for a non symetrical chassis/bodywork layout, but still it shouldn't be this hard. I have one more tab to weld on the chassis for the headlights and then it's bodywork from then on until paint.
I going on abusiness trip all next week, so I need to get it done by the end of this weekend. If anyone wants to help I would really appreciate it!

Well the saying goes "Ignorance is bliss" and this is a good example. Knowing what I know from my test engineering background the mounting structure wouldn't last that long or provide a stable footing for the lights. However, I did make it harder on myself by making my own setup, so my difficulty was both my doing and the poor design of the RE units mounting.

Well I think I'm done with bodywork. With the assistance of Bobby, I was able to get it done this weekend. The painter will be giving it a once over to see if I need to fix a few areas. If all is well, it's going to be painted this week.

I'm hoping for a safe 340-350hp with the efini's at 14psi. It may be able to make more power, but I'd rather have a tune that I can drive like a total jackass for a long period of time and not worry about blowing the motor. Have to wait and see.

The paint/body shop I was going to use said it still needs a lot of work. When I get back in town, I going to see what their talking about. Basically, my bodywork is still too wavy. I'm getting a second professional opinion to verify and if it's true it means I still have a lot of work to do. Complete skim coat and sand with a long block. Basically another 100 hours worth of work. Plus the painter seems gun shy, he basically does panel repair not full cars and doesn't have the time to do a project like that.
Someone in the shop pointed that out the other day .(The wavy part). And when I was at the paint shop, we asked about erics car and getting a full respray and they said they are not setup for that. The head mechanic pointed out that it took a year to do a full spray on the owners step sons car.

keep up the good work, it was nice to meet you at Deals Gap i wish you were closer i could help you get the body work and paint done! that car does not need a long block it will need a 6" block to make it straight, use a guide coat for the primer and you can use a clothe glove are a shop towel to "feel" the body. i also check the body work for straightness with acryl-clean the same stuff you wax and grease remove before you spray the panels, you wet a shop towel with the acryl -clean in one direction and stand back and admire your hard work! that driving at Deals Gap was very impressive can't wait to see what you can do with the FD..

Thanks Freddie, it was nice meet you and all the other guys. If you’re ever in the NW area hit me up.
Thanks for the advice; the towel method was also recommended by a friend of mine in Portland.
That was a weekend to remember, I'll post that video of our Sunday morning run on Streetfire.net this weekend. I wish I had the FD while I was there, it'd be interesting to see what time I could get. That mustang I drove pushed like a pig, but if you stayed within the tires friction circle it was pretty neutral handling car. Perfect gearing for that road to.
