I have a 1985 gslse with no brake lights. Ive changes bulbs because they were bad... still no brake lights. Changes brake pedal switch... still no brake lights. Horn works, blinkers work. Running lights work, hazards work. Left blinker doesnt work due to bulb being broke (fixing today). Anything come to mind that would stop my brake lights from working? Are my brake switch wires backwards? Ground looks good What is this bag?? Should it be empty?
Well I'm the last person to give advice on chasing down an electrical issue, but do you have a test light? I'd probably start at the switch and if I found power, work my way back toward the lights.
Ok so i just found out i have power to white wire on brake switch and white wire at stop checker but no power to the green wire at stop checker. Green wire on brake switch has constant power. No power at wires in hatch
An i changed all the bulbs. All tail lights, running lights etc work. Nothing when i press brake. I actually have the switch out of its bracket an just dangling plugged in so its as if the pedal is already pushed. Getting power at white wires nothing to green
On this relay the white wire with orange stripes has power when brake pedal is engaged. No other wires get power.... On the brake switch. The white wire with orange stripes has power when pedal is engaged. Green wire with white stripe and orange hashes has constant power. Could this black thing (flasher) be the problem?
All the problems I had related to brake lights were around the pedal. First it was the little pin that turns the lights off when you release the pedal - I lost the rubber piece; second one, this month, was the relay having a bad contact due to lack of use that my car has.
Out of curiosity, do you have dash lights? When you turn the switch on, do the dash lights light up? If not, and you have no brake lights, your TNS relay may be bad. They do fail because they are up in front of the car exposed to the elements. It’s a KA32 relay. Blue in color. You may also check for any pinched wires near the clutch pedal. One of my gauge wires runs near there and I pinched it causing it to short the system sometimes it would blow a fuse and sometimes not. Good luck
