Are you still in Brandermill Joe? We moved to Powhatan, but I'm always in midlo. You still up for coming to Tech sometime next semester? Some football... some cruising... doesn't get much better than that.

I am not online much anymore, we only have 56k here and it blows after getting used to a nice connection at school.

zach. i have a friend with a clean s5 turbo2 that needs a motor rebuild. i told him that you would probably be willing to do it for some cash, and i hear you build a good motor. he wants a street port, and wants to help, just needs someone who knows what they are doing. he blew all three seals on the rear rotor. do you have time to help him out? how much would your charge.. ect.

Garcia, thats funny. I have a friend with a clean S5 Turbo II as well that also has a blown motor and also needs help. But I 'heard' his 'sponsor' was taking care of it ;-)

yea, thats what i heard from your "friend" with the "clean t2" but ironically he asked me if i knew anyone that was good at rebuilds, and i knew zach did a few, so i suggested him. wouldnt it be cool if we all had "sponsers" for doing nothing but having a nice car to blow up

I found out that my friend's sister's fiance develops hybrid turbochargers for a living. Here is an excerpt from an email he wrote me explaining his current project:

"The turbo I am developing is controlled in stages that are integrated by a mechanilcally smart coupling device. The turbo also uses adiabatic cooling techniques to prevent overheating of the electronic components. I'm sure you're aware that turbochargers are made to perform better at either low end or high end because of the impeller specifications. You can put on a waste gate but there is still the idea of turbo lag and turbo efficiency. I have created a an electric motor that will operate as the primary source of energy at low speed and as an intermediary bewteen shifting and speed changes (thus eliminating turbo lag). The mechanically smart coupling device allows for all of this to take place. Since there are two energy sources driving the same shaft (electric motor and the exhaust turbine) the coupling device simply eliminates drag caused by either component by diconnecting it and reconnecting it whebever needed. For instance, the electric motor will control the impeller at low speeds when there aren't enough exhaust gas volumes sufficient enough to power the turbo, then, the turbine will eventually overpower the electric motor and become the primary source of energy for the turbo. Since the the electric motor is spinning at a slower speed at this stage; this is a negative torque in relation to the turbine and this is what triggers the coupler to disconnect the electric motor or vise-versa. The electronic motor is programmed for the performance desired after the engine is dyno'd (if desired, for pro applications). It can be programmed for fuel economy, drag, street, or anything you can imagine, and all installed into your custom interactive display such as APEXI or some orther device. Energy is also saved since the electric motor switches to alternator mode when not powering the impeller, turning the excess energy to electric current. I am working on getting the operating capital to finish the design. I still have some lawyer costs before it is sent off to the patent office and built by a design team. There is a company in Virginia that actually wanted to work with me in bringing my designs to market, but I had one other project in line that will go before the turbo, so, you probably won't see it out for a little while. I absolutely love this stuff though, and talking about it even more, which is actually a dangerous thing in my line of business but there's more to it than money for me. If you have any ideas or other questions for me, I would be happy to ablidge."

Damn, that would sure be nice to have on our cars, a nice single turbo with reduced lag. yummy

And for the 2nd gen guys, if you're having charging system problems, you can just buy a turbocharged alternator!

i just wanted to get on here and thank Jayson "cafcwest" for the emblem my friend and i went to look at the rx-7 today at cap and mostly everything was taken. when we came out to leave we had a piece of paper in the windshield saying the rx-7 club knows about you and as i took the paper out, a mazda emblem falls out in front of me. once again thanks so much Jayson

Finished the clutch finally (yes it takes me forever to do anything right...but the right tools would have shaved two days off).

All I can say is hooooooooooly ****. I really have to force myself not to go WOT and over 4K...

Hows the new clutch grab? ******* quick! First start it didn't want to go thru the gears even in neutral, adjusted the pedal play and that was fixed. Took it for a spin. Stalled once in the driveway. Stalled about a mile down the road...then that was it...shifting took a whopping 10 shifts to get used to, going to still adapt as I go along as far as starts go. It's grabbing about 1cm off the floorboard! (I'm used to it grabbing 3/4 the way up).

While I was down there, I found a reason why the underside of my car was messy (4 wire sensor, less than hand tight), fixed that.

just back into town, i hate fixing houses. Joe sorry i couldn't help you out on your car glad to hear it went in ok. I am on my car again and its still f'd up so i am glad to hear that someone is enjoying their cars....i want to push mine into the middle of the street and set it on fire. Nice beer drinking bon fire.

i've done some much crap to it with no results. I have tested and retested the AFM seems fine. no results. I made a compression fiting and tested for leaks and i diddn't find to many that where very serious...got a new computer for ***** and giggles, nada. Got a wierd reading on the injectors but i could have been dumb because they all came out with the same reading. did a compression test just to be sure seems to be ok. fuel is coming out of the high pressure line at a decent rate. I even unpluged and turned the BAC all the way in hoping to shut it off in case it was leaking, Nope. Kinda at the end of my chain. Thinking bonfire.

It'll never be ready with that attitude. Nasty tires are more fun to race with anyway. They make lots of noise so people think you are going really fast.

man... i never thought id say this. but i miss having cloverleaf as a place to run. im having withdrawls, we need an autox.

theres one the 19th in va beach, anyone going? if i have any money left over from beachweek/graduation im all over it.

so i graduated last night (WWWWWWOOOOOO!!!!)

anyways i have a good amount of cash thats burning a hole in the bankaccount. after beachweek, the money is all for the car, and kicking your *** in autox zach (i can dream)

anyways, what do you think would be the best thing for working with $440

ive been looking at front/rear sways ($249+shipping)

hawk hp brake pads (~90)

theres some kuhmo victoracers in the forsale section for 120+shipping that would have to go on a $50 set of rims

i could go GC coilovers with camber/caster plates, but that would knock out alot of money.

i want the car to be competitive in CSP, but i dont know where im going to get the best bang for my buck. any input? i know my big limiting factor right now is tires, so id like to get something

Hey zach, did you see me in the black vette the other day? I waved, and I know you were looking hehe. That thing is so damn loud, but so fast. '69 (I think) vette with a built 355 that revs to 7500 RPMs. 400-500hp maybe?. Weee fun. It's a guy who works at Delta V's (I was riding, he was driving).

The stupid forum stops sending me e-mail updates randomly so I don't see like a week's worth of posts until I realize what happened. Anyone going to ACU-4 next weekend? I want to but there aren't anymore spots open.

Oh yeah, and I got most of the noises from my GC's to go away, so I'm much happier with them. I ziptied the tophats to the springs, and it made all the difference. Still some noise, but nothing too bad. I didn't bother cornerweighting them, but when I get KW's I'll do those. Jeff does have the scales, but they're at his house so he'd have to bring them in. I'm just gonna wait until I get the KW's, then cornerweight those. Anyone up for some sort of a meet somewhere sometime soon? some some some some?

Holy ****, the black 'vette on broad?!?! If its the one I'm thinkin, which it probably is, that was bad ***. Sounded awesome. What kind of body work was on there? Looked awesome, too. Makes me want to get one!

I got my wheels on. What do you think? I'm still trying to get used to them, but I think I like it.

Old wheels. I really liked the Konigs, but for $365, I think I found a nice replacement.

I work right where you saw me, Brian, at James River Air Conditoning BTW. I'd like to stop by the shop sometime during luch and check it out.
