Could there be a wacky Saturdays? Silly Saturdays?
Unfortunately I don't have any time during the week, so I can't see making it up there any time soon. I wish I could though. I had a blast racing around the oval at the Southside Hotlaps event. I ran at Langley a couple years ago for an AutoX, too. How is the event layed out? 1 on 1?
For the autoX at VMP, www.vmsc.org has sign up info, ect.

I finally got the RX7 to my mechanic, primarily for an oil change and under carriage inspection.
And I wasn't surprised to find out that one of the motor was busted. The other needs replacing but he said the tranny mounts look new. 5 hrs. later I still don't have mounts, we called every place in town, 2 different deliveries showed up both wrong part. Apparently the catalog numbers have been screwed up and he got trannymounts instead motor mounts. And nobody has the actual motor mounts in stock, SOOO they are actually coming from Mazda because they're just about the same price (though they don't have them in stock either). They'll be getting installed tomorrow plus an oil change.

Right On! My daily driver is a 98 Sentra...nothing like a solid rear axle to bring you back down to Earth after driving a 7. Now if only the state would let me daily drive....

New member saying hi, got a question or 2

Hey guys. My name is Zach, yeah another one.. Just wanted to say hi. I have been a member here for about a month or so. I have mainly been just reading and watching as much as possible.

I dont own a RX-7 but I have been working on my friends 87 gxl for a couple of weeks.. Ive also done some other work on some while I was at Rosen Autosport a couple of years ago..

Anyways Ill get to the point.

I was wondering if anyone had a spare radio surround.. I was helping Greg install his new system last night.. and well his is just busted all up.. so If anyone has got one.. Id really like to make a deal..

Also, Okay the radio wiring in these is retarded. I used to workl at Auto sound of Va and well to be honest I dont remember ever working on one while I was there.
Im finding that the solution to most problems on these cars is the wiring, So im faced with re wiring the whole entire stereo system, from dropping new power and ground wires to rid the gremlins from this puppy.. ..
Is this the right way to go or is there some cobwebs in my head that I cant shake..

Thanks again and Im sure ill be around for a while..
just wait till I get my FD..

I had a similar experience when I bought my BMW across the street. The first friggin night I had it, it died, and I got to walk a mile home with groceries.
Yelling work really good in the BMW showroom, talk about some nervous looking white folk. I actually didn't get loud till they said they wanted me to pay for the tow back to the dealership. Turns out the battery connections were loose. hah

First month car payment paid
Free 1500 dollar bumper to bumper 100k mile extended warrenty (The manager actually bought it on his CC)
nocked off another 1000 from the overall price
free floormats.

Oh and they threw in a new clutch/flywheel/brakes and tires.

If you need a good deal on a car, go to Victory. Blow up the tranny, then yell really loud.
ha, i work over at lexus of richmond. you dont even need the car to break down to get free ****. just yell about something thats your fault, and you will get your *** kissed HARDCORE. they are all about making the customer happy, no matter what.

ie: they put in the service books you could go 7500 on an oil change in anything with a 3.0 v6 (rx300's and es300's). well people dont change their oil period, so the car comes in with a complaint of "burning excessive oil" or "smokes alot" or "knocks really loud". lexus goes "its our fault, our motors have a 'gelling problem'" if the customer can prove they changed their oil in the last YEAR. they get a brand new short block, rebuilt heads, and various other **** (pretty much a brand new motor) FREE. for us it pays 30 hours which isnt bad since you can do it in about 20, but jesus.

ie2: i did a 30k service on a car once and parts gave me the wrong transmittion plug gasket. i didnt notice and it ended up leaking. the guy pitched a bitch (rightfully so), they refunded his service money (~$600), paid for the next 2 oil changes, some other ****, and he wanted to talk to me directly and i got the whole "i dont appreciate not taking the time on my car". i mean, i understand i would be pissed to if my car leaked after a $600 service, but i tried to explain to him what happened and he was a HARDCORE *** to me. he also wanted me to come to his house and clean up the mess on his garage floor, but i never heard anything else about it.

hey Zack, don't catch Greg's car on fire again!!! I can hook him up with another surround, but you gotta wait 10 days. I'll explain later.

I'm jealous, but thats a long time to be in class!

Hey Zach, within the next couple of weeks (months, whatever) I'm going to pull the engine out of the GTU, so you guys can come and check it out. I know you wanted to learn, so a pull and dissassembly would be good to see.

Progress on the ol' GTU:

Trim, bumpers, tail lights, and emblems are going to the paint shop as soon as I find a drivers side trim piece.
The interior rocks your socks off. Seats are so much nicer than mine.

Damn you! Always trying to one up.

Yeah, I'm selling it once it's finished and broken in. I'm going to ask between $4000 and $4500, depending on how much money I spend and how it turns out.

We're pulling accessories and the intake today. Come by if your not doing anything. I don't think I'll pull it, just get it ready to go. Call me if you need directions: 338-2158.

Well, my car is down again, and this time it doesn't seem like anything easy. The three characters LS and 1 seem more attractive with every minute...

Well this is fun, over the weekend the top of my radiator split open and it's still at my mechanics. ON the flipside he found a replacement for $225, it's all aluminum and 2 row cooling. Looks like my rex wants its mods now and not later.

We got assloads of rain yesterday, well over 12 inches, it was tropical storm that hit a weather front an stalled over Richmond. Shockoe Bottom is totally screwed cars and tractor trailers were tossed all over the place from the flooding. No high winds though thank god.
Hey, who has a white TII and lives off of Dickens Rd near Staples Mill?
I saw it around 3:30 and of course I was in the BMW again (onh the way to pick pay for the rex repairs).

The GTU got flooded up the the shifter. I pulled the interior yesterday morning, washed it all down and let it dry outside. So I guess I will be restoring the interior too! arg.

Stupid rain.
