No, not related to McAfee the famous road racer guy. Unless my dad is famous and he doesn't know it! He used to race motorcycles in the 70's at the Nuremburg Ring in Germany when it was 26 miles long.

David, I'm sure they come in 18' too. I love wheels with a deep lip. I'm going to invent rims with a spinnin lip.

Can't say that I have some, but here's new ones:
http://www.mazdatrix.com/n-7.htm

Also, check out chesterfield auto parts for any used RX-7s...I was there probably a month ago and there weren't any, but they get in new stuff all the time.

rx7jjang: Red 87 2+2 base model at Chesterfield Auto Parts. Second row of imports, next to last car on the row. It still had the Mazda emblem as of Tuesday on the rear.

Sooo...anyone want to give me a hand today? I'll have the car in the garage to change the clutch, some help would be appreciated. Let me know and I can pick up some beer/food!

Gimme a page at 2045443 if you want to stop by and I can give you directions to mapquest.

I'm in northern chesterfield, maybe 10 minutes from 288&360, or about 10-12 minutes from southside speedway.

Sometimes it'll timeout trying upload a picture...

I'd put money on the forum being slow since it's the weekend.

Got the heat shields and exhaust off; the driveshaft is dropping now. Got a late start since I had to goto the store for locktite and a bit more transmission fluid (I saw 3 quarts...two were half full).

Well you guys won't believe this ****. I take out the starter and I start working on the bolts around the bellhousing...3 of 4 out, get to the one near the slave cylinder and someones stripped it for me. Last place to touch the transmission? The dealer.

So, it's off to sears to see what I can buy next.

take a pair of vise grips (doubt that will work though because of the high torque). maybe a chissle and a hammer?

Amazingly enough, there didn't seem to be too much torque on them at all. The others came off pretty easy. I picked up a set of bolt/nut remover sockets from sears:

Should work...going to start early!

Transmission is out, flywheel nut is off, but the flywheel is...well...stuck. So I'm taking a lunch break!

The whole suspension is still on the car but it looks rather stockish and oldish. If your gonna go through the efforts, get some new cheapies or save some and get some nice performance shocks.

Anyone have a good way to get a flywheel off?

I've tried heat, soft/heavy hammers, prying, wedging metal behind the flywheel and putting a bolt through the flywheel to try to get it to push off...no dice.

i took 2 hefty screw drivers and pryed behind the flywheel, then i took a block of wood, put it on the e-shaft and slammed it with a hammer. it came off. it just takes some force.

same thing happened with my alternator. I ended up getting the Gator thing and it seemed to work. But the bolt connecting the metal piece providing the tightness to the alternator wouldn't come off so I had to remove it from the block. Then I went 2001 a space oddesy on it with a sledge.Amazing how acting like a monkey can get the job done.
