I'm feeling kinda cracked out right now. The last few days have consisted of: taking apart the rear end for dtss, wheel bearing, and brakes, fixing a damn door handle (or attempting to for hours), work everyday after school til 1030, and having more school work than ever I missed when I was outta town, and now I'll be up for the next 3-5 hours doing schoolwork.. and then again, I'm probably feeling cracked out as a result of Red Bull and a "5-hour energy now!" drink that tastes like ****. and no, I don't know what **** really tastes like.
Ok, thats my rant. done.
Time to stop posting pointless messages and go do ****.

No, this isn't entirely pointless. I have a question. Is anyone going to the Pungo airfield drift event this weekend? Its only in VA beach. Go!

Napa machine shop and Richmond Steel FTW! I got my dtss pressed out and toe elims and wheel bearing pressed in at NAPA today. It came out to about $60, which is amazing compared to the $160 quote Dyke tire gave me. Very kind and helpful guys working there!
I also stopped by Richmond Steel on the way home to pick up some 1/4" thick brackets to weld onto my Corbeau bracket. I'll be getting rid of the sliders and bolting the seat to the modified bracket. Its lame, I mean I'm not even tall!

Dave, when is the latest registration date for this sundays auto x?

the registration isopen now, goto the main www.vmsc.org page and hit the registration link, it will take you to myautoevents.com for the registration, should be still open
Which NAPA did you go to? That's a really good find, I never would have thought they did that.
I've got a whole list of stuff I wanna do whenever the FD sells and thats one of them things.

I have a question. I am doing a bushing install on my 87 tii (all of them) and I also am doing the DTSS elimination. I was curious about the longevity of those rear wheel bearings, whats the mileage/fail rate? should i install new ones now that i have the entire suspension apart? or is the cost benifit not worth it? They seemed fine before i took the trailing arms apart.

I would imagine the rear wheel berings are good for at least 150K miles most likely 200K with no issues other than the occasional need to tighten them.

My friend is trying to convince me to run in the auto x on sunday, and I'll be getting back late saturday night from driving at the Pungo event. I've already only had < 4 hours of sleep in the last 48. Argh. Its like a $30 fee for non members right?

My chassis has 261k miles. Yea, its safe to say this wheel bearing wasn't going to be around much longer. Napa has a machine shop connected to the main parts store there on Chamberlayne Avenue. Carl, a fellow there has done a ton of bushings for me, many on the old FB. FANTASTIC help, service, prices, and quality too!

Now tomorrow, I have to rig my door handle, install the rear suspension hubs and spindles or w/e back on, put in pads, fabricate bracket, install spacers, and stuff. Taking it apart isn't all that difficult IF you have an impact gun for the axle nuts and a screwdriver to drill out the brake rotor screws. Thanks for the tips Robin!

The drift event in VA beach turned out well! I got the entire car back together before it too, and the fc definitely is a bit more predictable with the toe eliminators. Ah I had so much fun today... I had about 16 runs on the course. There were about 4 or 5 other FCs there, but for whatever reason they were all understeering horribly. It was an awesome technical course with a long sweeper at the end. Sweeper = fun! Pictures and videos were taken and will be up sometime. I only had 45 minutes of sleep prior to the event... so i'm going to sleep now. laters.

That was last weekend, one of the Fiat Arbaths rolled, first car in about 20 years - although I saw a Mark I VW Rabbit get real close about 2 years ago at Cloverleaf, if the wind had been blowing the other way he'd have went over.
And from what I hear (or read actually) NASA has the option of short heats(4 runs) or long heats (8 runs) depending how much time and money you got to spend
Wish I could have been there this weekend but was too busy watching the snot explode out of my head

Was it the Judge with the really clean Fiat that rolled his car? I saw him racing at RIR a few months ago, went up on two wheels, I was a little nervous for him.

Wow... a car rolled. hot damn! Wheres the autox media and results?

On another note, I received an Improper Exhaust ticket yesterday. Lame. When I saw the po, I was far away, cut the exhaust, then he followed me for a solid 1/2 mile through a neighborhood until I pulled into a friends driveway. Then he flicked the lights and called his 3 friends because he didn't even know what ticket to give me. Tonight, a cop swerved into my lane at the last second at the light in front of starbucks, obviously to hear how loud my exhaust was when the light would turn green, but luckily someone speed by so he left me alone. Nearly two times in 24 hours, and the only two in 12 months.
I want a quiet catback.
