i dont know much about 4 port 13b's and much less where to get them. i wanted a 13b out of a second gen mainly because they are everywhere, especially at the junkyard. carb was a consideration.. but i really want efi. carb'd motors, atleast my 12a is a BITCH in cold weather. i always have idling problems for the first 20-30 mins and when it ices up it sounds HORRIBLE. plus.. i dont have the extra 600 to waste on a carb, much less a intake manifold and so on. so ill stick with efi.

also.. 12a make **** for torque. and since im into drag racing, this will be a TOTALLY better platform than the 12a. there is a guy in the first gen second that claims to make 720rwhp off a 12a. he has dyno sheets and video of it. its pretty beast, i can send you links if you want. but other than that, ~250 is the most ive heard from a 12a, and i dont really want to go to a bridgeport and carbon seals.

is the 6th ports that big of a problem with the motors? and how hard is it to fix? if i can find a 4-port motor.. ill consider it, but i guess ill have to research the differences. as far as i know though, they only came from rx4's, is that correct?

i know this is goign to take forever.. but once i get the motor, it will be a motivational thing. i did my suspension the way i want, minus a strut tower bar and 15x7 kosei rims that weigh 13lbs a peice but all that will wait till after the motor.

on another note, i just got back from work, and im off the 7th and the 9th. so i will be at both the autocross and the drag strip. i hear registration is all filled up, but ill make a few fun laps. do yall know anything about them (helmet, cost.. ect)?

thanks for the help guys

I just saw two Ferraris leaving Richmond. Man those things are awesome.

I'm sure they were headed for VIR on trailers with full race slicks. One was a 360 and the other was a 355 WC.

Does anybody have $150,000 for me to borrow. I would like to invest in a new car for track events.

I see cars on trailers going to and from VIR all the time since I live just off of 360. Most of them are trailered porsches, ferraris, and a few historic racers. I wish I was rich...

wow im shocked i miss a couple of days of reading and everyone is talking about projects.Hows the TII running rob?It sucks breaking it in doesnt it?I think im going to order 2 motors from kevin landers and put them in the 87 and my vert use the vert for S/C and the 87 for autox and driving to work.I talked to pineapple and hes estimating $4000.00.Which i have but not willing to spend on a 13B.Ill leave the vert un S/C until its broke in then start boosting it,but a little slower this time and have it tuned.Ill be pulling motors all weekend if its nice outside.1.1 the swap sounds good the only problem is finding a S5 they have 2 S4 at circle, the only downfall to removing emmissions i have found is if you remove the emission rail under the manifold you lose vaccum to your plentum. If you go with TII housings you may as well use a TII motor cause you have to use the TII intake and exhaust.I dont see no use for TII housings on a 6 port unless for the higher compression and the exhaust port i would just assume use NA rotors in a TII motor.Sorry for rambling on but i just read alot about different combinations,in search of my wantings.
BTW: its 1:00a.m why is everyone on the forum????My excuse is i just got off work and to tired to go anywhere but im still

As a first gen owner, you should have these bits of knowledge embedded into your brain!!

The 4-port 13B can be found in the 84-85 GSL-SE. It's the only first gen with EFI (in the US atleast). I've seen them pop up in the junkyard, typically their motors get yanked MUCH quicker than the 12As. Your dead on about the Tq...but do keep in mind, the 12A actually makes SLIGHTLY more Tq than HP. As far as finding one in the junkyards, good luck.

Take the big blue circle off of the carb and see if it smells strong of gasoline when you try and start it. When's the last time you've changed plugs? I'd wonder if your running a bit rich while the engine is choked...(mine always ran better when choked...odd eh?)

I've seen street ported weber carb'd 12As hitting around 180-200 HP tops...

really? i thought those were 6port guess that makes sence though. ive NEVER seen a gsl-se in the junkyard, trust me, if i did, i would be taking every little bit and peice off it.. suspension.. power windows.. motor... other.. stuff.. the only thing i can argue (that im aware of) is that i hear the efi setup on a gsl-se isnt very good.

also, when i dynod, my car made 107 rwhp with 96.1ftlbs of torque. (12a)

well i pretty much want to keep it at stock boost, i just want a turbo, but..i was already considering putting a turbo tranny in there when mine goes its alrighty showing signs of needing a rebuild. Anyway. I was wondering what kind of pricetag id be looking at if i did it in steps.
1) turbo
2) tranny
3) rear end

There is a reason for it to stay a sleeper, it keeps it from getting stolen or broken into.

i actually saw an 84-85 GSL-SE parked outside GRC on morning. I wanted to wait around and find out who owned it, but I had 1 minute to get to Hibbs for History. When I got back it was gone. Oh well.

Hey Zack, did you and Robin have any luck fixing the fuel problem today?
Can't wait to hang out at the Autocross next weekend. Should be a good time. Who is going to compete and who is going to watch?

I might show up to watch and chat, I don't think I have anything planned.

I just checked the weather and its not looking too good on the 9th... rain/snow. Hopefully it will miss us, the weather reports aren't usually that accurate a week beforehand.

David, I did get it fixed, I was just telling Zach it only took me 2 hours or so, everything went really smooth, kind of felt weird. I just replaced the top o-ring on the injector that was leaking. I don't think I will be racing, but I will be there. Maybe somebody else will let me drive their car once?!
