I've put up some more pictures of Robin's exhaust.
Check the how-tos under Turbo engine buildup.

oh yea after riding for about 1 minute and a half in joe's turbo, i was hooked. My next 7 will be a turbo, preferable an S5 turbo. After I got back to my dorm a kept imitating the spooling whistle. My room mate got kinda angry since he was trying to sleep. So...now i need to find a cheap S5 TII. Considering my money situation it might be cool to have one that doesn't run. It sounds like a challenging yet very satisfying experience rebuilding a rotary.

Don't we all. You should consider installing a J-spec turbo motor in your current rex.

Well...

What a past few days...

I left work today, nice and sunny, looking forward to a drive home with the windows down. That's I noticed that someone decided it'd be really ******* cool to do it for me. While they were at it, they must have thought that I could benefit from some weight reduction. I can only guess that's why they took my cd player .

Now just breaking a window and taking my cd player just must have not been enough...I mean...my car is just so ******* cool I MUST have some sub hidden somewhere right? So they thought it'd be cool to show me places to put them by tearing up the interior (roughing it), ripping the carpet from the base of the cargo cover, and ripping the carpet from the plastic piece that secures the carpet over the spare tire.

I'm taking tommorow off work...I am going to have a **** of a time finding an excellent shape S5 radio surround...

jesus joe...where do you park. Im kinda worried about my car. Not exactly sure what good it will do but it still worries me. I'll keep an eye out for a surround for you, if I go home I'll check out the junkyard and see if i can find one. But damn man, that goes beyond sucking. Good luck.

Good Lord Joe! You have seriously crappy luck these past few days. Good luck in repairing it...

Not too long ago someone stole some nice ray-bans ($$$) from my TR6. I don't lock it because I'd rather have someone open the door than tear through my new top. It really pisses me off when people steal.

Sorry Joe. Why can't these ******** respect other peoples ****? I guess because they are **** themselves. That's been going on alot lately at school. If they catch someone, assuming its the same person, you might get something back.

Looks like it's going to be me and Robin at the autoX. There is already a waiting list filling up. Hope to see everyone there anyway. If you've never been autocrossing, it may be a good idea to watch one and get the flow of things.

Total damages for the last four days:

~$1500

That guy that hit my car in the deck is going to get an estimate for ~475...I'm at a damned loss for the cd player however, since I cannot find a reciept, my insurance co is not going to give me anything...not even money for a factory deck. It doesn't seem to matter that I could have 15 people sign off on saying that I did change out (they saw the old deck and new deck) not to mention the rents who saw me do all the work.

I'm trying to get drunk now...I was hoping that I could actually gain a few hundred for the deck, but now I am going to be out 250 dollars for the deductable (sp?).

On a side note, I'll be sending payment for a EMS tommorow!! I should have it in three weeks time. It's set up for a stock 13bt setup, however I am going to try and get a S4 front cover (mech OMP!). I do get to toss some things, such as the AFM...only bad thing is, my turbo is nearing the end of it's life (unpleasant bearing noise...). That's going to HAVE to be the next thing to be done seeing that since I can't keep a solid boost level @WOT (even the stock gauge says so...that's gotta be bad! )

I'm debating on either rebuilding the turbo myself and having some place that does work on semi's balance and finish up the turbo, or just saying screw it and hunting down a nice T04E...

Oh yea, I could have fixed all the theft related damage for less than my deductible...

Just in case anything similar happens to you guys:

65 windows
40-50 S5 radio surround
They tear the carpet from some interior trim? Repair. 3

Hindsight=20/20.

I will try to make it to the the strip on the 7th and the autocross on the 9th. I'm pretty sure my car will be running by sometime in April so I will not be running it at either event.
Sorry to hear the bad news Joe. That really sucks!

1200 block of Parkwood Ave. (one block south of cary and harrison) by the parking lot.

Great news, if you give circuit city your correct phone number, and you need a reciept, they'll make one up for you. That big bastard behind the counter saved me $237!!

No music for me...I was thinking it'd be a nice place for some gauges...

zach after careful consideration, when my engine dies, i may go turbo....I just don't know how to do it lol. Is it really pricey to do that kind of conversion, im not talking about any heavy mods, just stock turbo engine in an SE. I know Id need tranny, ECU, Rear End. But it would make for a hell of a sleeper lol. No one would see it coming XD

it would be one hell of a project, i hear its just easier to buy a turbo 2. and if you want the sleeper, just go to a FMIC and get a n/a hood. atleast that the only way i can tell.

im starting to price out stuff for this 13b. im going to start going to the junkyards and try to pick one up. plan are streetport, lightweight racingbeat flywheel, stage 2 clutch, and racing beat header. no emissions.. ect. does anyone have n/a streetporting templates? im assuming the turbo ones are different. also.. im thinking instead of using old parts (since it will be from a junkyard, i have no history of the motor) i want to do a complete rebuild kit. all new stuff. or is the kit rob had good enough and ect. i know that kit reused some of the springs. do they not get worn easily? if i want to remove emissions, what kind of problems will i run into? i guess im asking yall since yall are the second gen guys and have more knowledge about these things. im going to do my best to pick up a s5 motor.. but i guess i will have to settle for a s4 if i see one.

I agree, just buy a TII, you will end up spending as much on parts doing the conversion as you would just buying a solid TII.

1.1, I think zach may have a n/a streetport template, I have a TII template, but they are much bigger. As far as the used parts go, it just depends on the engine. The only parts I used over were the oil seals and the side seals. In my case the engine only had 55K so they were useable. I don't think you will have any problems with removing emissions, just buy the block off plates from www.k2rd.com Good luck, I will keep my eyes open for an engine.

First, the TII conversion:
There are two ways to do this:
1. Full blown- engine, tranny, drivetrain, ecu, & wiring harness. Expensive and time consuming, but a true conversion e.g. SCCA legal, and also strong enough to handle high horsepower.

2. The easy way- buy the engine ecu and wiring harness. The engine bolts up to the NA tranny. If you make too much hp, you'll break something in the NA drivetrain, but close to stock TII levels are ok.

Check out http://www.rotaryresurrection.com for a good explanation, OR you could use the search button.

Second, 13B stuff:
Michael, I really think you should stick with the 4 port motor, unless your going 13BT. If your happy with 150 rwhp, then go 13B. This is all assuming your still using the fuel injection system. A fat Holley carb on a 13B would be a different story. Not really my area to judge anyway. I don't know much about the 12A's or what you can get out of them. I just know that you pulled 107 with stock ports when the good running ported 13Bs are pulling around 140-150, and there is much more room for porting with a 4 port motor. Some 13B NA guys go through the trouble of using TII side housings for more room to port.

To answer your questions-
-$50 for porting templates won't be a large concern when you spend $2000+ to finish your project. But I have one you can use
-The kit Rob got was a pretty good deal. I think the price is about the same as anywhere else for each component. We reused the oil seals & side seals.
-You shouldn't have any emissions problems, but you will have to worry about proper opperation of the 6 port actuators.
