Ok so I was finally motivated enough to swap the new starter into the FC last night. I forgot how slow that car really is.... methinks it's time to make the swap plans. At least the stereo sounds nice.

if your really in need i got a 13b swap its got pretty much everything besides a few small things i had to take off for my other motor.(Hoses, and a senor i think thats it) the only really bad thing about it is that i checked the compression on it before i pulled it out about 8-9 months ago and the front was running 120 psi but the rear was 80 psi i think.

I've buried the speedo in my corolla

it only goes up to 110 though...

that was also before I put the 205s on it too...

I'll have to check the classifieds to see what the average price is, then throw in a "local guy with nasa secrets" discount

Seriously I have no idea... If I do a swap, I need to start getting parts together and get it done pretty quickly since I'll be borrowing a vehicle to drive while it's down before too long (the jeep is going back to the dealer). And I'll also need cash pretty bad because there are some things we can "make work" and there are some things that need to be bought at retail price. And my credit cards are maxed out lol.

My car's oil seals are blown and it appears it's time for a rebuild Who's rebuilt their engine before? Advice and help apart from what I've found by searching the forum will be very useful.

Well that was the original plan, but if I could put Joey's running engine in the car and be done with it, I might. I'll call you about the parts ( and labor! ).

The compression in the vert's current motor is good, just blown oil seals. So I'll either buy Joey's or rebuild the one I have. Jason (tofuball) tore apart a motor from my parts car in hopes of rebuilding that one, but it's not rebuildable...

You have to remember too that joey's car is an S5 so it would be a lot more work switching it over than just dropping in the new engine.

Hah! My first car was a used 1981 Tercel SR-5 3 door.

In that car I learned....

"Lawn jobs"
Dropping the clutch
understeer
oversteer (after slamming the brakes and turning the wheel)
how to break axles (and then how to fix)
off road driving
parking brake turns
that a slow car can sometimes beat a faster car from A to B if you are just a more crazy driver

I think I got mine up to about 90 once... but it was terrifying!
