I wont be going to MIR..

How do i go about changing the gear ratio so i can increase my acceleration.. i really dont want a turbo.. and dont have the money nor time for an engine swap.. plus my engine runs fine.. i'll do an engine swap when this one goes dead.. and how do i get rid of the rev limiter in any gear?

Increased acceleration= shitty gas milage. Do a rearend swap. 4.30 gears= hard takeoff and cruisin' 70 mph and tach reads 5000rpm not good What do you shift at to think you hit the limiter?

A Rev Limiter is a device built into ur ECU (i think) that tells u when u are going to cross the threshold for the engine = Red line. If u stay in the Red line for too long u can cause ur engine to blow. So the ecu tells u by making a sound or a beep telling u to shift. Thats the job of a rev limtiter I believe. Also it makes it hard for u to pull into the red line of the car.

I thought that buzzer was the "power band" alert... Kinda like those "turbo" lights on old 80's cars that told you when you hit boost....

well i am not sure, but on my integra it had a rev limiter that would make the engine go WRERWRRW over and over again tell me to shift.

lol smokems, Lt. Dan is kidding

FBs don't have limiters, or at least the carburated ones don't...

have you ever hit the rev limiter in 5th coke?? I'm pretty sure it comes on at like 1k past redline, which is where your tach stops I don't think getting rid of it is a good idea. I used to rev my rx-7 to 7 1/2 all the time

its not worth changing them from 4.10 to 4.30 imho. You should go up to the popular 4.60 or 4.88
These gears sets are available at tri-point for the second gen. And I always here bitching about gas mileage. We I hate to break it to you but you are driving the complete worst car of all time for gas mileage concerns. Get a daily driver that is good on gas and play with the 7 as a secondary vechicle or don't bitch about gas mileage. Increased acceleration is the name of the game

Well my car does farely good on gas milage when on the highway doing 80 to where ever i go.. i usually get 100 miles for every 1/4 the tank.. I do have an s4 with stuck 5th and 6th ports so No.. i havent hit the redline in 5th yet.. i'm still pushin it in 4th.. and everytime i get close to the red line i always see a cop or traffic comes up soooooo quickly.. during that time i'm going about 123.. it makes people look like they are only doing 30mph.. great stuff..

Well i could hold out on mods and buy a daily driver... and hook my car up for the summer..(i.e. get all the mods and dont put them on til spring)..

1) you should really keep that kind of driving to the track...

2) Opening the 5th/6th ports makes a HUGE difference... we tuned tofuball's car with the 5/6th ports open, and then he went full throttle without opening them... the megasquirt was subtracting more than 20% of the fuel to get the same AFR we were getting with them open... that's a pretty huge difference.... and that was only at 5000 rpms, his car gets it's peak volumetric efficiency between 7000 and 8000... so it probably would've been subtracting like 30-40% of the fuel it needed with them open.... that means it's getting a lot less air into the engine..... and a lot less air/fuel means a lot less power.

Not to mention that with them closed, the car feels like it's barely moving above 4000-4500 rpms.

Ken

ok.. well i'll keep it for the track then.. i never been to the track nor know a good place to practice my driving skills at for a low price or free for that matter.. I'll keep the car under 4K rpm for now.. With the ports closed you have to like play with the gas pedal to make them open a lil bit at a time.. like 1/4th the way down to the floor where the light "shift up" is still on.. it opens the up a bit and you can feel the power.. but for now i'll tone it down a bit and stay below 4K rpm for all gears til i get the pineapple sleeves put in..
