I learned by buying a bunch of resistors and a breadboard from radio shack.

It's pretty easy to learn.... The megasquirt was the first thing I ever actually soldered that does anything though

agreed, i should learn how. the problem, however, is finding someone who's on the same schedule i am, can handle my wacky last minute schedule changes, and is willing to teach me. i'm a very capable, quick-learning student(most of the time...sometimes the female side takes over and it takes awhile to catch on).

etronics.com is pretty cheap, I've gotten things there before, they're pretty awesome.

you can always go to a site like epinions.com where it tells you a bunch of site you can go. there might be better ones like that, but I forgot what they are called...
