Well I lost my job today. Contract wasn't renewed. Gotta love the april 15th lay off.

Anyone need a tech? or a mechanic?... I think I'm probably just going to start up a small computer repair buisness. I've had small buisness management courses, and I've already got the budget and buisness proposal worked up. My dad's trying to push me into it, but I'm not so sure.

Ive got a friend that tried to get me in over there, but it doesn't pay enough to support a family. I'm looking for 20/hr+ which may seem rediculous, but it's really not when you have a family.

The money sucks. Remember my buddy Adam with the 81 Rabbit that has a 16valve swap and is running carbs. He used to work at Congressional Volkswagen and he says what will kill your check will be warranty work. That's why New Car dealerships suck. Someone will have a ridiculous amount of work that needs to be done and it'll be covered under their warranty. Meaning you get the hourly I think.

yep...warranty work is paid a LOT less than repair jobs that are beyond the warranty. try car sales, maybe?

Retail isn't my thing. I hate people, and I hate dealing with customers. I'm a technical person and my customer service skills suck *** at this point.

well...if you want to work on cars, go to a high end dealership...that's the only place you might have a good chance of making money. if you are a certified mechanic, then you've got a little more on your side...but it's still hard to make money. the techs at my dealership all complain that they make more money on their side jobs than anywhere else.

...here's another thought. if you were willing to drive back to Timonium, i know Agile Auto is looking for a good mechanic. one of the founders of the shop had to leave for personal reasons, and they're in need of someone to take over his spot. you could always give them a try.

meh. I've never bolted a turbo on a honda before so I don't know how much I'd be able to help out. Not alot of buisness for 80's sports cars I'm sure. I've dropped by their shop before haven't ever seen a 7 there before.

they don't do mazda, but they're always busy it seems.

they appear to stick to nissan, subaru, and honda, with the occasional mitsu and higher-end toyota.

Open a shop to work on 7's! I'm sure there is enough people around here looking for a good, quality 7 mechanic to keep you busy for awhile. I've got two right now I'll bring up to get you started!
