DC Area thread - The District, NoVa, Maryland
Don't think I mentioned but about 2 months ago my rear rotor lost compression, tore it apart and found an apex seal had pushed into the spring area and jammed. Motor got rebuilt and large streetport and got it running yesterday. Now just doing some tuning adjustments with the pfc due to adding a/c. It is amazing having that ac blowing after not ever having this car with a/c. Of course this wasn't without issues ranging from the damn pull type clutch retain ring falling out twice during install, figuring out how to route ac lines around the large turbo, and finding a/c wiring issues such as the relay box having the wires cut during some diagnostics. The only thing left is getting it to idle nicely and not stall out with a/c running.
But a brand new 3-piece boot assembly with a working insulator ring and boot pad are way too much to stack underneath the center console, per the FSM. Had to remove two boot rings or the lever would pop back to neutral as it was way too tight.
Anyone else get this? Not the best timing for me but I may try to head out there late Saturday. Not exactly sure how exclusive it is. Here's the link: MAZDA

Anybody wanna buy my turbo manifold? I just got an EFR 9174 in this weekend and the hotside just barely doesn't clear the LIM
Mani was made by Sean @ A-Spec, it's divided with a single (44mm) WG, ceramic coated, and it's got two bungs added in for EGTs. It was originally made for a PT6265 so it will fit any mid sized turbo.

My FD has been down about a month while I got the steering rack rebuilt again. Also fixing my A/C at the same time. Won't know if it works for a few more days though!?!?!?!

Aka - a 200 miles of daily work commuting would be better than a 1,000 mile road trip where you put it on cruise and only change speeds/gears to get fuel.
Shoot, if you want I can show you a nice 80-90 mile loop through the back roads east of base this weekend. It's a FUN drive and it will give damn good break in miles
There were definitely some rpm and boost variations with certain cars if you catch my drift, but was all good fun. I think I may know what your talking about in calvert county....Right now I'm hurting a bit after having that last storm, had to get a new laptop and then found my hvac compressor blew a hole in the side of it so thats a 3K+ repair. May be pausing ever so slightly with the 7 driving.
Dude is blowing smoke up your *** if it's a 3k repair. Should be a whole new unit if it's that high. Highly doubtful its the compressor, coils and lines feeding compressor yes. Compressor it's self is very rare. Means water condensed and rusted it through. If it truly is the whole unit then go for the highest SER rating you can afford. ECM's and VFD's are worth the money.
Yea I live like 5 miles south of base, my field usually stays here for 5+ years so went ahead and bought a house after being overseas for 6 years already. All I know is it is super lame being this hot this week.. ~__~
**** man, I can imagine... Have you mentioned it to your Shirt? Maybe get some assistance from the AF version of the Navy/Marine Corps Relief Society? Worse case scenario they can offer interest free loans in justifiable situations (I'd call lack of HVAC during this period "Justified")
Otherwise, maybe see if any CE buddies would be willing to trade their knowledge/experience in doing HVAC stuff for some beer and food, that way you can save some on the install

Looks like the heat index will still be around 100* at 7pm tonight so not ideal for standing around in a parking lot for hours. I am going to try to make the Sunday morning C&C instead.
I won't have time for the Miata event at FedEx tomorrow. Someone should go check it out. I did their Mazda6 event many years ago and it was pretty cool. Impressed me so much I bought a 6 shortly after. Maybe one of you will have a 2016 Miata shortly after tomorrow.
