My plan is to hit up the Dulles Landing C&C around 8am tomorrow. FD is as clean as it's gonna get. Working on detailing the goat right now but taking a break from the heat :P

How's the sushi thing, have you been to one of those before? Good turnout?

Haven't been to one before but it is larger than just 7's. My buddy mike that came with us on the dc spring trip is going, so there are a couple of photo people there as well.

Anyone need anything taken to or brought back from IRP? I'm heading up to NJ this weekend and will be stopping by the shop on Friday.

It won't be coming home yet, I'll just be dropping off my arcade cabinet for their reception area and picking up all the OE parts that won't be needed anymore with the single conversion. The idea is that I'll be able to hop in and drive the car home when it's done. Ihor told me the manifold and downpipe are on their way to him from the fabricator so I'm hoping it won't be too much longer before it's done.

I'll be installing an FMIC sometime after I get it home if anyone wants to help with that.

Nothing fancy, I'll be sticking with the Power FC. In hindsight the turbo kit is a stretch, I probably should have just stuck with my original plan of stock turbos with a ported wastegate; now I'll be catching crap from my wife for many months to come. My FD was 100% stock when I dropped it off, the costs are adding up quick.

I still need to buy a clutch and intercooler; I should probably also upgrade the ignition before the final tune.

The price for the car was right but it looks like hell, it will be quick but won't look the part and will be full of traction problems.

Anyone need any stick sequential parts? I've got two sets of twins for sale too.

Well shoot... if you're looking for a new FW I just freed up my Bonez Superlight FW when I switched to the Exedy Carbon-D twin plate clutch...

Or, to save money I could just GIVE you one of my old clutch kits that held fine when I was running approx 480-490whp. They're a bit heavy and abrupt though, which is why I switched.. Could save ya some money though, as they should have plenty of life left and I'm not looking to profit off them.

Hey guys! Been a creep on this forum lurking in the shadows due to my build taking unnecessarily long to finish. It's all done, getting ready to head out to some meets and get to know the community here but the 7 had other plans. It's showing some sick signs and wondering if any of you guys have experienced these signs.

So it's a 94 single turbo build. Engine is the original with 82k miles. Did a 3 gear pull, upon pulling up to a red light afterwards I get some nasty idle pulsing ranging from 500rpm to 2krpm. Checked all my vaccum lines and nothing was disconnected (still have to do the carb cleaner trick to finalize if a vaccum problem).

Played with my idle adjustment screws and I've been able to minimize or rid of the pulse idle but then during deceleration it will die or pulse idle for a little then level back out at 900rpm. The final interesting tid bit is today when I was backing into a parking spot it started to spit out white smoke but only for a second or 2, it did this before when I was adjusting idle a few days ago and made some ugly sounds, again only for a little.

Originally the idle would lead me to believe vaccum leak but thone 2 instances of white smoke has me thinking it could be something more, such as a chipped or blown out seal. I know a compression check is an absolute must but has anyone experienced similar symptoms and it's something I'm over looking? Car still holds boost and pulls what I would assume fine. And in regards to compression test any good recommendations or it doesn't really matter where I go? Appreciate the help and reading my novel of a post.

Did you make any changes, or did the symptoms just start on their own? White smoke is blown coolant seal symptom which may or may not be related. You may want to post to the 3rd gen site to cast a wider net

Symptoms happened after a recent 3rd gear pull. Before that zero issues through all rpms and no changes. Ya that was my next step I just like to start local first. Appreciate the reply

Do any of you have an S5 or S6 rear counterweight you would part with. I thought I had one but I can't find it anywhere.

Well crap....

Important information about Maryland registered historic vehicles
Dear Historic Vehicle Owner,
As the owner of a historic vehicle, we want to make you aware of legislation passed by the Maryland General Assembly that goes into effect on Saturday, October 1, 2016. It is important to know that this legislation will impact how historic vehicles may be operated.
Effective October 1, 2016, a Maryland registered historic vehicle may no longer be used for transportation to and from employment, school, or for commercial purposes.
In addition, historic vehicles with a model year of 1986 or newer may be subject to safety equipment repair orders issued at roadside by law enforcement.
Thank you for your compliance with this new Maryland law.

That's similar to the antique plate restrictions in VA which make them somewhat useless. The real issues will be determined by how the new legislation is enforced, the biggest potential problem I see is if you get stopped for a loud exhaust and it gets written up as a safety issue; will the cop be able to require an emissions test? Regarding time behind the wheel you can just claim you are test driving the vehicle or taking it somewhere to show it to someone.

MD continues to spiral out of control, I'm surprised this didn't come with a tax increase.

Yea honestly I feel I would just tell them I only get my gas on base so that is why I am driving it... ~__~ The emissions would just be an auto fail if I had to deal with that and I can pop the silencer back in if absolutely needed.

I'm almost certain this became a thing because the large number of VW guys in MD. If you notice it's from 86 to newer. And 99% of dumb kids in MD wouldn't buy anything older than an AE86. So that helps them enforce extra regulations against them.

Random thought though. Would you guys recommend someone starting with a TII FC or an FD if money wasn't an issue. Or even a clean FB if one was located. None of them would be kept anywhere near stock. Just wondering from a learning perspective which is probably the best rotary to start with.

It all depends on what you are looking to do. The first gen's would be the "easiest" of the bunch since they don't have as much electronics on them compared to the other cars. Also being non turbo makes the learning curve shorter.

Finding out what you want the car to do in end is more important than the car.

Buying a car to modify it to not stock is easy. You can find bad unfinished projects on here all day long. Doing it the right way takes time and money. Ask yourself how of both you are willing to spend first.
