I just looked at the roster and it appears that there are going to be 2 other first gens there, the "Ros" people will have a yellow 79 and a beige 84.

And there is also going to be about 15 miatas.

Yeah, they have been there before. I didn't get to meet them but I heard on the CDC forum that one of them apparently did a peal out to turn the car around for their trailer at the end of last season. They either have already gotten one or are going to get a talking to about that on Sat.

Details: Why did you test it, did it blow? Who did the test? Where are you getting your prices from? Do you have another car to use or is this an immediate need?

Mike? If i recall his name correctly at Unique Precision Rotary in MD did the test. They have the engine already built in his shop ( some guy just didnt buy it after a rebuild ) they will do all the work and such... removing engine ... put it back in and so one... also tuning with the a/f with the safc...

They tested it while I was there just because I wanted to figure out why my HC levels were soooo high....

I do have my mariner to drive around but I was looking at it... I still will need to put alot more into the car to get it perfect and such... and a bike will keep its resale value.... more I put into the 7 ... the return is minimal.. pennies on the dollar.... but I did take it to the track lol with the motor the way it is.... and i fell in love again..... so its more of hey please help me love my car again

I'd say either keep the car and shop around for an engine, or use that money to buy a whole new car. You can pick up a pretty decent FC for the 4k or so you'd sink into that car. And in the end, you'd still wouldn't have a LSD in it

In regards to shopping around, Fritz is currently listing two engines he has for sale. Dunno if they are what you want/need:

PFS fresh rebuild $2k (5k miles)

Pineapple racing ceramic seal very small street ported engine (less than 1k miles) $3k. The seals alone cost over 2k. New housing, the works etc..... 5k plus build
But, if you have the money. I'd keep the car over a bike. You've only begun to scratch the surface of these cars. They have their own 'personality' that is tough to get away from.

Ouch, that sucks. Sorry you had to miss it, I hope you are alright. Was it a big piece of metal?

Saturday was a great day, if you minus the chilly wind I would have called it perfect. The course was nice, albeit a little more difficult then they usually start off the season with. There was a bevy of 7s there. The two yellow Fbs were there (still learning), Mike (Eage8) had his FC instead of his corolla (great car, wish I would have gotten to see more of it), and my Auto FD.

Here's a pic someone snapped of mine

Due to forgetting my wallet at home that morning I didn't get anything to eat all day and couldn't concentrate very well so my times suffered. I was only able to pull a 41.5 on the first day. I was much better prepared on Sunday and pulled a 40.2 ...but that was just for grins. I think the car had a sub 40 in her, I just need to keep working on my driving. I had a great time getting back out there though, and am really excited for another one.

Here is the FTD run, so you can see a bit what the course was like. This is a FF Cobra replica with a supercharger:

The course looked cramped, is that how they normally are or is it just the camera?

As for my eye, a piece of rusted metal came off when I was replacing my exhaust it was stuck in my eye for a day. I went over to my moms house (who is an eye nurse) she put some gel stuff in it and it pulled it out. However, it left a rust ring on my iris which caused my vision to be blurred and that had to be "brushed" out. A "brush" to an eye dr. is really a vibrating metal pick that is anything but friendly. Now I can see, so it is all good.

Good to hear, glad you didn't lose any vision permanently. Got a pair of safety specs yet?

And yes, Frederick is a very small lot and thus the courses are usually cramped there. James Wood HS has a much better lot, and Bowie isn't too bad.

Yeah, I had a lot of fun. I was only there for morning runs, but still had a good time. I really can't drive the FC to save my life... but it's fun 300+ hp at the rear wheels is much different than 160ish to the front wheels

and as much as many of you will disagree... the corolla can out handle my FC any day of the week.

I had to get home to watch the 2 week old... so I could go out on Sunday... Sunday was a lot more fun

You should use the FC for that, even more fun!

BTW, I think some better tires on the FC would have helped you more on Sat.

it has star specs it's not like their all-seasons... but they are pretty narrow.

also, someone already rally-crosses an FC

Matt,

I'm in for the morning session, (a couple friends of mine that are coming need to leave early).

When I get there, I'm going to ask the organizers if I could still run the afternoon session too. If they say yes and I feel like I want some more action, I might run in the pm with you as well. Otherwise, I might just stick around a bit to watch some of your runs then bug out.

See you there,

Also, anyone in the vicinity of the Bowie Baysox Stadium that wants to stop by and watch and take pics/video, feel free. (If you post them online just blur the license plates)

Cool; see you there! From what I read on the web site you can run both AM/PM sessions if you want to pay for both. I gotta prep my car (1st outing of the season) tonight and I'll try to remember to install the camera to cap some runs.

Yeah, I saw that too. I didn't want to pre-register and pay for it if I didn't end up wanting to run the PM session too. My question is if they'll still let me pay and run even though I'm not registered. The answer is likely going to be "yes, of course we'll take more of your money" but, I've never run with MSCW before so I don't have a feeling for it.

Ugh, so I got to run in heat 2B. It was wet. Spun one run, flagged for another car spinning on another, ran down a few cones and drifted the rest. As promised I took video though (click for HD):

In other news, I'm trying to get a few local members together at the track like we've been talking about for years. I started a thread for it here:

Looks like you guys got some sun at least. I went to get food after the AM session and came back to say hi and watch some of your runs. Although, after a couple of minutes sitting in the parking lot during a full downpour I just decided to go home.

I'm surprised that they didn't change the course during the PM runs after the the most expensive car in the AM decided to beach itself on one of the islands. How come you guys only got 5 runs? time or rain?

All that rain that happened around lunchtime pushed back the driver meeting, walkthrough, etc. by an hour. By the time the first cars started in the A group, the course was pretty dry. After 5 of their 6 runs, the sky opened up again and all the timing equipment/etc was packed up until it ended. When the rain ended they ran the B group (me) but the course was completely soaked. Oh well you win some you lose some :P
