DC Area thread - The District, NoVa, Maryland
yay, my garage now has a winch

I don't have to make my wife come help me push my broken cars into the garage
In other news... I'll be selling my OEM FD Torsen LSD soon if anyone is interested... PM me. (just the LSD, no carrier, needs S4 stub shafts to go in an turbo FC)

Looks real complete in the engine bay, crazy seats though. I'd be curious about what other interior parts have been changed.
I haven't seen much around here, But if I was in the market, I'd probably go give this one a look. 85 Mazda rx7 gsl-le

These FBs are a little on the expensive side. A couple years ago I picked my "great" conditioned 82 with about 68,000 miles for $2,500.
Now that GSL-SE in Jersey could be ok for less money. It interior/exterior isn't stock: the seats looks like RX8 seats (a plus), there is a wooden steering wheel and it has been repainted (a plus although they painted the mouldings as well), but the engine bay still looks stock.
How much are you looking to spend?

I haven't done a darn thing on my car in weeks because... cold and lazy. Still have to track down whether I have a vacuum leak or not before I do anything else (steering rack, bushings, tires, alignment, wbo2, tuning, track). Gonna be scrambling.
You can convert to FB stuff, but there are a lot of parts that had different things:
-Different thread pitchies...oil pan, brake calipers, the calipers themself, all the hard line brake lines. Master brake clutch, the master clutch cylinder, clutch cylinder line "hard" & "rubber" line, clutch slave cylinder, and all the hard line brake lines in the front of the engine bay...So when you swap the front spindle to get the FB struts, the brakes use a different thread.
-Transmission shifter position moves further to the rear in the FB's; FB trans will not fit an SA without cutting the tunnel and console
-Lights are completely different in the rear....and because of the front bumpers being different so are the front bumper lights too
-Brakes were different on SA's, they used wedge style (except late 80's)
And there are probably a bunch more. I'm not saying don't get it, just giving you a heads up.

Well thanks to this lovely weather we are having today, I was able to go outside and work on the 7.
As a background: it was burning a lot of coolant near the exhaust in October. So I re-installed the freeze plugs....still smoking. Then I ordered a new water pump, installed it over some of a couple of evenings here and there. Finally finished it up today. Started it up but it was STILL smoking, just not nearly as much. Turns out this was just the coolant burning off the exhaust, after a few minutes of idling it went away.
YAY!!!! It runs!

awesome
I worked on my car today too.
Installed a trailer hitch...

redid my storage bin battery mount, but I'm not quite done, and don't have a picture...
also did some test fitting....

I'm jealous guys. I spent the whole day yesterday helping my sister move
. It makes it even more frustrating knowing that I have a set of Tein Type Flex coils just waiting to be thrown on.

I spent the weekend working on the new car's brakes, it got new calipers and new Ax6 pads all around. Now it will lay down stripes of rubber both accelerating and decelerating
Mike, at least they will rub less then the previous set of tires
Moneymaker, PM afgolden. He had an auto FD that was still running for around $5k locally. You could make money on it easy by dong a manual swap and fixing it up a bit. If it is still available... (If you get it, I'll even buy the Auto gauge cluster and some other Auto parts from you once they are off the car.)
Wes, are you ready for March 16th/17th then?
