I will be at the track this weekend... at the NASA HPDE at summit point

I saw a bunch of RX7s on the roster, any of them on here?

SW Baltimore, Lansdowne area

Do you know anything about rebuilding and porting a rotary? If so, in January I could use your help.

Wes, dunno if you have seen this but it is a really good video made by one of our members Aaron Cake. Might give you a feel for what you are getting into.

Ok, it was mentioned before but I'll post it here again since it is getting closer to the day. NASA is running their first AutoX of the year on Jan 15 down at VMP just south of Richmond (approx 2 hrs away). Here is the LINK

Not sure about the weather yet, but since it has been pretty mild so far this winter I am considering going down to check it out. I'll likely make the final decision during the week before but I want to gauge interest of others around here. If more people are interested in heading down with me I'll be more likely to do it.

Happy 2012 fellow FD'ers! Rocky, I like your style...keeping everyone informed of all the events! I can't make it that weekend as I have a conference, as I always do, on MLK weekend here in town. I'll be up for a cold weather drive and/or meet if it stays like this though....ie, sans snow.

We've been talking over in the Maryland thread about getting together for some Allsports GP action. Who's interested and what day do you prefer? Fri night like we do sometimes after the CFA meetup? Or are more people available during the day on Sat/Sun?

I think we should set something up this month because they are doing 2 for 1 in January so your first two runs are only $24.50!

I can make it any night except for Wednesdays or Sundays, I just have to know far enough it advance. Also, A tip for eveyone! They honor SPK memberships. If you have an SPK membership, you can get Allsport member prices! They also don't check the expiration date on your SPK membership....this guy figured out how to scam.

Just for fun, what are your normal lap times at Allsport(not Best times, Average ones)

I run right around 25's on average. I did qualify for Supercarts once, but never went back.

Have they improved their maintenance on the regular karts? I stopped going a few years back when I noticed the karts having hugely differing performance/characteristics.

They seem good to me, sometime you get a kart that is slightly better or worse, but I definitely wouldn't say "hugely" different. It's the same as any other karting place I've been to.

I was at allsports tonight for the Rallycross awards karting/dinner and got a 22.8

Wow, nice time! Was that with a regular or SK? When I stopped I had a few open sessions with a lot of people so I ended up in various karts. One was just right, very neutral. Another locked up it's tires with very little brake input (my avg. time dropped ~1s so I guess the tires were just gone?). The last liked to oversteer with any steering input while braking (even if only lightly). Then again, this was years ago, I may have to check'em out again during the special.

It was a normal kart. In full disclosure, that was towards the end of a 35 lap mini GP so the tires where nice and warm. I qualified for the SK my first time out yesterday, and then ran a SK run right before we started runs with WDCR Rallycross (I got there early) and only managed a 22.7 lol.

Everywhere I've been has kart differences, the kart I set the 22.8 in had barely any brakes, and when it finally did start braking it would almost immediately lock the wheels. you just have to drive around it. I ran into the same thing at MidAtlantic GP the 1 time I was there.

I posted up some videos on my youtube channel if anyone is interested:
