It's that time of year again where the leaves are changing, it's getting colder, and we need one last fling with our cars before we have to deal with salted roads and everything else winter has to offer. All of us that went on last years trip had a blast and are looking forward to another with even more participation. Here is the link for last years trip if you want to check out some pics etc... Above is a poll for what day this will occur on, you can vote for multiple days so vote for every day you are free. The day that gets the most votes by the end of the poll will end up being the day of the trip.

There are two options for routes, Route A and Route B.

Click on the route links and decide which one you are in for (there are descriptions about the stops and drive times to the left). If you are not from the DC area or do not intend to do the whole trip, just meet up with us for some of it, please indicate your intentions. If we do the long trip it would be cool to meet up with some local rotor heads in Harrisburg or WV to do Rt.33 with.

Hopefully my TII will be back together by next weekend. I told my wife we could go to Skyline so this is perfect.

I'd be in for the 6th if I could go, but I'm not certain yet. Route B would be my choice as well.

It looks like our date is set for November 6th and we are driving Route B. Keep your fingers crossed for good weather.

I was thinking of setting the estimated departure time from IHOP to be 10am. Does that sound agreeable to everyone? or do we want to push it back?

I'm planning to grab food in IHOP before departure. If anyone wants to join, try to show an hour before departure time. Whoever gets there first, park somewhere that we can group the cars together for pre-trip photos and grab a table big enough for everyone interested in food.

 

Damn, was hoping the votes for the 5th would prevail. Pretty sure I will not be able to make it. Damn birthday party to attend.

Terrible news, I won't be able to make it. My car needs open heart surgery. Initial diagnosis is a bad apex (this is my exact problem: https://www.rx7club.com/1st-gen-archive-71/engine-signs-failing-rotary-engine-679328/). I suppose my future plan for a 13b is going to happen sooner than I thought.

 

Sorry to hear about the lawnmower problem, but I did wanted to add, that for some of us the date of the 5th is better as on the 6th the MIR is hosting Imports vs Domestics for the World Cup Series event, with shows and alot of rotary guys from MD will be attending, including our resident Ernie the Yellow Bee Taylor...

I wanted to see if you guys wanted to fill the weekend with more than just one thing and make the end of the season weekend full with a 1-2 punch!

So how about it? Drive on Saturday/Event Sunday?

I'm still good to go for the 5th, but the sixth is a no go for me. I don't want this to interfere with Rocky's plans, so we should leave it up to him and the other "drivers".

It really doesn't matter to me guys I am just trying to get the best turnout. I don't want to exclude anyone but whichever day more people will show is the day I think we should go. With Wes being out (Wes, you are welcome to ride along with me and take pics if you want) we are down to 6 vs 8 on the days. Here is how it stacks up:

In for both : He's On Toroids, jl1rx7, Max_Spd, RXtacy

In for only 5th: 93rx74lyfe, mrhetrick,

In for only 6th: FD3Colt, fonzi581, Molotovman, Zoolander

I know Duc has work on Saturday so you won't sway him. I'm guessing the same is for Casey but I don't know for sure. Haven't heard anything from Colt since his vote so I'll put him down as a question mark.

Mike, a birthday party? really? it better be your own kids b-day.

Vlad, if you really want to go to MIR we could still do it after the cruise for all those interested. we'll probably be getting back to town around 2 or so. A half hour more to MIR and we'll be arriving right as the car show judging ends so we'll be able to still see all the cars and the Bikini contest at 4

Again, I really don't want to leave anyone out. I wish I could invent an open day in everyone's schedule to make this work. ***** I'd drive it both days if you guys want....

Yup, can't do it Saturday. Would love to on Sunday. I'll keep a look out on this page for changes but looking forward to a nice crisp day of driving around the bends and Fall colors. I have a feeling I'm going to regret never hitting an auto-x before these curves though.

Not really, you can't go very fast on the route we are taking. Skyline drive is mostly 35 mph

 

I am going to MIR too so I'd choose the 5th if possible. But, I need to fix a diff mount or tranny mount or something thats loose so no worries if i miss this one.

 

Looks like the sixth would be better for me. The GF wants to do something downtown Saturday.

 

Sorry guys. Looks like another year that I'm not gonna be able to make it. I have not gotten enough stuff fixed on the car and am actually worried it might break down on me. I don't think that is a big chance but don't want to take that risk. I have to work on Saturday plus I forgot I am going to MIR on Sunday.

My question is if we'd get better turnout with a course change or not? Seeing as there is interest in going to MIR, do we want to stay local and make that our destination? We can do a tour de DC cruise (rock creek, hains pt, etc), and then head down for the event at around 12. Here is an estimated course route (MD natives feel free to suggest detours). estimated departure time from IHOP to be 10 so eta at MIR about 12-1

This is getting to be a CF so let me put it clearly. Right now we are confirmed for the original plan. If I get a majority for the new plan we will over-turn it. Write back and tell me your thoughts before Friday. If I don't get more people interested in Route C then we are going ahead with the plan outlined in post #14
