what are your options? ive heard ls2 coils were better that ls1. why not just throw on some blaster coils or something like all the v8 guys like to rock?
He said they were better, but I was thinkin...how much better.
I got the ls1 coils because they had the built in ignitors so I could run direct fire.
I'm assuming the ls2 coils were the same, but could pack a bigger punch.
It's just that they aren't designed to work with our type of demand.
You know...the way the leading plugs never rest.
I'm looking into the electromotive ignition system.
Or a few other ballin *** systems that I'm gonna have to sell my one left ******** for.

Thats crazy that they're frying then. LS1 coils have been taken way into the 8's and WAY over 1000whp on the LSx motors. And yes the LS2's are most certainly better than the LS1's, but the round truck coils (with the heat sink on them) blow the LS1&2's away. The LS1s have 40 milliamps of peak secondary current, where as the truck coils have 120milliamps. Plus with the heat sink they can tolerate alot more useage. The Leading plug fires twice per cycle because of the elongated combustion chamber, and it may have a hard time keeping up with that at higher rpms. That's my theory.
I'm seriously considering the LS2 or Truck coils now.

I'm running the msd truck coils on leading and std on trailing. I have like 6 left over
. They are working pretty well, firing into the 9 afr at boost. What was the charge time on the coil when you blew them. Most that blow them are pushing them too far charge time wise. We had a demonstration at the Haltech seminar where we ran them at 100% duty for probably 10 min. I run sequential and can run them in 6 ms range. In a wasted spark format your stuck with 3-4 ms and leaving some spark energy on the table. We'll see how far I get boost wise when I get my engine back together on E85.

I was pushing the dwell to 5ms...
Below that, I was breaking up around 5800rpm.
Above that, I was breaking up around 7000rpm.
Do you have the truck coils with the heat-sinks in them?
Those are apparently the best to use...

Yep I have all truck coils with the heat sinks. They are also now what Haltech sells as well, instead of the straight LS-1 coils. Are you running sequential or wasted spark on your map? If its wasted spark that might explain the problem.
