Microsquirt coil wiring

Hello guys,
i have an s5 engine with FC coils, and I followed aaroncakes' guides and my experience to wire a microsquirt to it.
Got it running today but noticed that the microsquirt manual calls the top coils leading and the bottom coils trailing, which is incorrect.

I have it wired like this:
Ig1 to leading coils to top spark plugs (trailing)
Ig2 to trailing trigger
ALED pulled up to 5v with a resistor to trailing toggle

I initially has the leading coil feed the leading plugs but it runs better if I route the leading coil to the top spark plugs.
The engine runs on both rotors but not great, I know both the rotor 1 plugs are firing but wanted to make sure that's how the wiring goes.

When I had it like that, with the CAS inserted correctly and the ignition settings copied from Aaron's guide(and ignition timing locked), I couldn't get the leadings to fire at the mark on the pulley.
I'll put an angle indicator on and check the timing of all 4 again.

i have done a lot of rotaries on megasquirt and the leading 1 its spark A or ign1 on microquirt.

Sounds reasonable. I'll check my CAS polarity and run ig1 to the leadings.
thanks

Just checked my wiring and it's correct
on the 24tooth wheel,
Red wire goes to vr1+
White goes to vr1-

On the 2 tooth
Green goes to vr2+
White/black goes to vr2-

I'll restab the CAS later and check timing again.

Never run the trailing plugs like that.

I found it is the only way to get an N/A to detonate. You can fire both leading coils at the same time because the rotor not at TDC will have its apex seal over the pinch, so the wasted spark fires into a chamber just starting its exhaust stroke. If you fire both trailing plugs at the same time, the wasted spark fires into a chamber just starting its compression stroke.

Did you ever figure out your issue? I'm trying to get an S4 TII running on microsquirt as well, and I think we have the same problem here. I wired my CAS exactly like you did, and I had to run my CAS 2 teeth out to get the timing on the mark.

For closure, when I switched to Falling Edge/Falling edge triggering on the CAS, my timing straightened out and I was able to stab the CAS into the normal home position on the marks.

Also, I can confirm that on microsquirt in FC mode:
IG1 is Leading coil trigger
IG2 is Trailing coil Trigger
WLED is Trailing Coil Select

The manual is WRONG.

Did you use a 1K resistor connected to VREF in the WLED circuit?

Taranabes helped me tremendously with the Microsquirt setup.

Open the ECU and simply "Pullup" the R2 (SW2-WLED) switch. Per Taranabes, this replaces the need for the 1K resistor on the older units. My engine revs perfectly.
