So I've started my swap up finally and it climbs to 4,000 and more rpms. I turn it off when it gets there cause the motor hasn't run in a while. Do they all do this? New to the game. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

 

It's normal for a 3k warmup if the accelerate warmup system is intact and working. However, 4k+ would lead me to believe you've got other things out going on (timing, TPS, vacuum leaks, etc.). Have you messed with any of these things yet?

 

I still need to set timing and I'll check all vacuum lines. And TPS I haven't touched. Should I set my yellow line and my CAS up again and start there and see if that helps?

yes. it can still happen. check the linkage on the throttle body itself.

my guess is you have a vacuum leak somewhere.

 

if its a stock AFM system car then a vacuum leak usually results in an RPM drop and idle hunt if its bad enough. advanced timing can cause idle to speed up as well but not by more than a few hundred RPMs. a sticking thermowax can also raise the idle but not to 4k by itself without the AWS activated first.

id start with throttle linkage, since it seems the most likely problem.

 

It's a street ported turbo with emissions removed. I don't have the AFM hooked up either...

 

what engine management are you running?

How is it even running at all? The car should die after startup with no AFM activity detected.

without the AFM the computer won't know how much fuel the engine needs, so yeah, surprised it even runs for more than a few seconds without it on the car.

So would that explain why it's throwing so much fuel in for 4,000 rpms...?

Ok so the TPS was responsible for the 4,000 RPMS but now it is stalling just as you say. So now onto that with the AFM
