My boost controller (Apexi Super AVC-R) is holding boost at 10psi fine with my current mods which are
GReddy SMIC
Apexi intake filters
HKS 3" DP
Bonez hi-flow cat

I have the stock cat-back exhaust on the car right now, but have a Racing Beat dual tip sitting in my garage. I want to port the wastegate before I open up the exhaust to be sure I won't be creeping.

So what would be the best tool to use? I have a dremel, would a dremel cutting bit work pretty well?

Also, how deep do I need to open it up?

You really should get an air die grinder (inline) and use grinding stones. If you want to finish it up get some sanding rolls and smooth it out. Summit sells a nice basic porting kit. A dremel doesn't have much power behind it.

use a die grinder with carbide burrs to take down the metal and use your drumel or grinder with the sanding bits to smooth it all out.

Grinding stones are those cheap sand things that selfdistruct when you use them on something hard

Thanks, I will look into getting/borrowing a die grinder.

Now the problem is getting my compressor not to trip the circuit breakers LOL

Electric grinders are better than air for hogging out cast iron. Much more powerful and quiter to boot. No need for an air compressor either, just plug it in. Not talking about a Dremel. Leave that in the box. There are 1/4" models on ebay cheap. Habor Freight also has them. I bought one of ebay a few years ago and have used it to rough in ports on countless engines and have only needed to change the brushes once.

Next, you can use the stones to clean up the ports but you'll quickly get frustrated and ruin a good many stones trying to remove the amount of material that needs to come off when roughing in any kind of port, wastegate, intake, or exhaust. Get some carbide burrs. Ebay again.

For finish work I like sanding rolls. I usually get them through Summit or Eastwood. The kit below includes some crossbuffs too. They can be used to give the near mirror finish. You can finish up with polishing rouge if you're ****.

i know what grinding stones are i just used the "?" as why use them.

On the stones I really don't know. I hardly ever use them. Burrs and sand paper.

Thanks, this has been a great help. I'm bidding on the Electric die grinder and necessary bits on Ebay right now.

Anyone know of a write-up for pulling the turbos off? This will be my first time doing so. I'm assuming I'm going to need a few gaskets and bolts.
