WHAT'S REALLY GOING ON?

Hey everyone, this project is NOT dead! Far from it! In order to provide the best product, we're taking the time to address any and all issues with the original design:

1- Strengthened the headlight buckets.

2- Strengthened and re-designed the mounting brackets.

3- Providing an option for lens covers.

4- Addressing lighting concerns.

We didn't simply set-out to re-release the original headlight kit. We felt improvements were necessary and in effort to provide the best quality product, we've chosen to address the issues we found.

I apologize for not being able to provide a time-frame or a ball-park figure in relation to cost. However, the flip-side is that we've not taken any deposits from ANY members and we have not misled anyone with an innacurate time-frame for completion. I will do my personal BEST to post up pictures of the product and try to determine an "accurate" time-frame as well as pricing as soon as possible. Please understand that this is still just a "GB Interest" thread and I've yet to make a finalized "GB Thread" for this product.

If anyone has any additional questions/concerns whatsoever, please feel free to contact me directly. I will be using these lights on my own FD so there is no chance whatsoever that these will not go into production. I hope that appeases some of your concerns.

Thanks,
-Rizwan

P.S. If anyone really needs a set ASAP, I'll be selling the original headlight kit very soon. Feel free to PM me for details. Thanks!

Thumbs up

Update: Just found out some great news that I'd like to pass along. Basically, the headlight buckets, mounting hardware and light covers are complete! We're working on finalizing pricing so that the members interested in purchasing just these items for now, can do so.

Re Lighting: We're still working on finalizing the lights that will be used with this kit. If anyone has any input or suggestions, please feel free to share as I'd like to hear them. Also, should we offer an HID kit or would members prefer to fabricate the HID's based on their own preference? Please advise...

Thanks!!!

I think that it is a great idea, in that it will surely make ALOT of customers happy, to offer the bucket and mounting hardware as soon as it's available (ie - now apparently), and offer lighting packages as they become available.

The RRR kit is my favorite sleek light kit by far in terms of functionality and looks for a street car (R-Magic kit doesn't look like it produces very much light). I currently have the Evo-R 90mm headlight kit installed and it just doesn't fit very well and light output isn't the best. I would be interested in purchasing the RRR kit depending on price/quality/light output.

Does anyone have a picture or two of the RRR headlights in use with a stock 93-95 spec bumper? I'm trying to keep a relatively stock R1 look to my car for now. Thanks in advance!

You know, a picture or two of your progress would increase interest by about 1000%. Thank you for the update though.

The FD's light housing uses a H4 bulb, as does the Run Racing kit in the larger reflectors. It would make sense to stay with a lamp housing that fits H4 bulbs and give us owners of aftermarket HID kits the option of reusing our systems. That would also allow those with the stock lights to plug and play. Anyone wanting to upgrade to HID could then have the freedom to pick their kelvin rating (color) and brand/quality of kit. I'd still like to wait for a kit that at least has the outer lights. I plan on using the inner holes for fresh air ducting.

+1 This makes real good sense and creates greater flexibility.

An adapter to connect to the stock harness/H4 plug would be easy enough to make:

I prefer lamps which use the H9 bulbs - significantly superior in light output to most other non-HID bulbs. Requires seperate lamps for highs and lows, but I'm assuming this kit provides for that already.

Also, I'd probably create a harness with a relay that connects directly to the battery anyways, since the stock harness is crap. The stock harness may not support the surge pulled by the HID ballasts when turning the lights on, for those that choose that option.

The fog lamp harness certainly didn't when I tried that many years back.

dclin, the biggest challenge will be finding high quality lights that fit the pods w/ the clearance necessary. I'd like to supply the kit w/ a basic non-HID light source, with an optional plug 'n play HID kit. We're almost there...=-)

Thanks,
~Ramy

Guys, can we probably get an idea of what they are going to cost, so we can keep a little extra in the bank for immediate payment ?

Exclamation

UPDATE: Pricing for *at least* the buckets and mounting hardware is expected to be finalized by next week. I anticipate pictures of the finalized parts to be posted sometime next week as well. Finally, I will do a final test-fit on my own FD's to ensure quality and fitment. I am extremely particular when it comes to my RX-7's so if I'm able to sign-off on the product, I don't anticipate any issues whatsoever.

Group Buy Structure: This GB will be structured so that anyone paying in advance of production will receive *at least* $100 off the retail pricing. We have not yet determined whether a minimum purchase order will be necessary to initiate production. Since, we are still working on completion of the lights themselves, we will provide an even larger discount for members willing to pay for the entire kit upfront. I will notify everyone what that discount over retail pricing will be once the pricing for the buckets/hardware is finalized.

I will continue to update this thread until we are ready to start the official Group Buy.

Thanks everyone and have a Great 4th/Holiday!,
-Rizwan
