Nonsense, a 1.32 is not too big for your setup.

Agreed. It's certainly not limiting the top end potential of the engine.

It is likely that I will be unemployed in less than a month, so I am waiting to see what will happen before I take the car back to the dyno. Sucks, but I have to make sure I have a steady income before I spend more money on the car. I will be taking it back ASAP though.

I actually still have these coils for sale. Chris and I worked first hand with these coils and can attest to their abilities. You will NOT find a better coil for the money. Don't need any amps or anything of the like, etc...just wire directly to the individual ignition outputs of your ECU.

Feel free to do some research over on the efi101 forums to feel them out if you'd like. Everyone that uses them swears by them.

PM me if interested.

Well, as of today I am unemployed, so the car won't be tuned for at least 3-4 weeks or until I can find a job. However, I will now have time to troubleshoot the problem, hopefully correct it, and finish everything on the car.

when it comes down to it its up to and how much power he wants to make. look at turboR1 and his car he ran like a 1.05 and made 500hp and now hes running like a S475 if i remember right and if you look that thing has to have like a 1.15-1.32 for sure just check it out or message him i think a 1.32 is not to big. i have personally ran a 1.15 on a street ported motor and yea it was laggy but on a bridged motor it would have been perfect for sure

Just spotted this thread while looking for something completely different (dry ice to remove sound proofing) and its amazing the amount of work done. Love the throttle assembly, never seen that style of throttle before !

Thinking about the issues I think the biggest question I have is the position of the throttles in relation with the plenum. I've never seen it where the throttle is after the plenum before. It is always before the plenum. Wouldn't this make the intake length much too short forcing the peak power point much higher up the rev band ? would it make peak power way past max rpm ?

those are called barrel style TB and were found on many british race cars and older sports cars ...they work fine and off the same prinicple of a plate style....they actually have more fine control over airflow as it is more gradual in its curve for open and close..versus the plate which is more of a ON/OFF swith with a little give in between
as for the location I will let Slow tell you why he chose to do it like that

Cool, that's only 30mins down the road from me

I really like the style of the barrel throttle. Is there a reason why they are not use much nowadays ? Look very cool !

Its all about give and take. The roller barrel throttle bodies will flow more air than a butterfly TB of same size due to not having a throttle bar/plate in the air flow. They also give more control over the amount of air getting past. BUT they have BAD problems with turbulence in the airflow in anything other than WOT Look at the idle the air flow has no direct path from the in and out, also note the brick walls that most of the barrel opening has. This is why they are not too common. the disruption in air flow at low throttle can makes for bad performance in the low throttle and mpg department.

Love your detailed thread! Sucks that your on a budget and also time constricted. Otherwise I'm pretty sure that you'd be working on a 20b or even a 26b right about now.
