Buckey's Pro-Am Build: '87 Mazda RX7 TurboII
the thing with that is when its nice again i wont want to drive hard and break it more for a few weeks.
im just lazy. i have to spend $2,000 for this coming event just to drive and thats without any test sessions before...
went to udrift. remembered why i dont session outside of pro-am events... lol all in good fun though. this side of the car sucked anyway. now i HAVE to redo the paint on the door, fender, side skirt, and rear bumper.

Had some fun with some of the best drivers in Vegas. Eugene, and Danny! Wish we could have drove some more together. sucks that it took me 2hrs to mount tires on RPF1s. lol these wheels SUCKKKKKKK!!!!!!!
gotta give thanks to traverse for helping mount them and looking out for me getting home after blowing out a perfectly good tire. thanks again bro. i owe you. Thank you Garret for being amazingly sarcastic and me being oblivious to your antics all night! <3

Thanks Justin! FD Vegas will be sick! media/setup day you should hop in it and tell me how jank it is.
i went to pull off the rear spacers last night to try it out like you said and for some reason i put my old wheel lock key on the spacers and i didnt bring the key with me... i forgot about it entirely so all last night was still the same horrible wide rear setup. i did notice having to throw the car really hard a few times to initiate aggressive. but at the same time i'm getting comfortable with having good front tires for once so i can huck it and not worry about it understeering. last year i had junk front tires so i'd always throw it in gently like rain drifting....

Sucks to say this but i will not be able to drive FD Vegas this year... i ran into way too many setbacks. the biggest issue is me having ZERO tire support this year, and lack of resources to get discounted tires... i don't want to go out and embarrass myself on used tires and spend a ton of money doing so.
i will attempt to get the car running and have it on display in the DSTROYR booth, or in the NOS Bunker if there is space.
i just need too much to finish the car up in less than a week - meet tech requirements, and have a legitimate chance at doing well...
2011 is definitely not my year! i really hope i can catch a break and get some sort of tire flow for next season...

Against my better judgment i am still prepping my car for FD Vegas despite the unfortunate setbacks and my will to drive.... here are the photos and i will keep updates going until tech inspection if i make it to the event to drive.

with the help of some friends getting me motivated to put in work and their help hanging out and wrenching on the car we finished up the rear firewall to the FD Rulebook
i also gained even more steering angle and resolved the previous issue i kept running into with my tires binding on the LCA at lock. no more rubs. wider front track width. more static camber. more angle.
pulled the trans out. fixed my broken shifter housing, and inspected the clutch, input shaft, TOB, and pilot bearing. it's all back together minus the motor being without a turbo...
just need 1600cc injectors (again) an ebay manifold and a wastegate and if i can get everything in time by saturday to get it to the dyno and get one session in before hand ill try to get tires and drive. i hope i dont miss out on it.

spent a little bit of time tonight prepping the aero, and repairing some damage from the last event, plus the last few Udrift sessions.

had some friends come by and help out.

getting ready to stunt with pearl flake.

glassed the backside of my fender. gotta grind down the front, and fill it, then resin/cloth the rear again to make it stronger - then prep for paint.

My friend Vic helped bang the firewall out. quick disconnect style, yet space for my fuel cell, surge tank, and bosch 044 pump that i'll be throwing on after FD Vegas when i make the switch to E85.

and where i'm at right now @ 5:50am. touching up the rear aero paint. halfway finished.

Turbo on. i think i might need to add another flange to the top of the ebay manifold to space it out a bit more but who doesnt expect to do some work to a $100 manifold designed for an FD RX7.
