Buckey's Pro-Am Build: '87 Mazda RX7 TurboII
#301
i do need to get a bash bar going back there that will protect it a little more though, cause my chassis is far tweaked unless i cut the top piece off where the hatch latches are, there's no way i can straighten it with ratchet straps, or come-a-longs.
my right rear shock tower came off the glue, so its a good bet its tweaked. (not that i care about the rear suspension)

2011 i'm going to hit every XDC stop, and try to keep up in the points all season. we'll see how it goes. thus far the only one i have helping out is Slideways drift apparel, but nothing cash wise. usually just some shirts from time to time.
if the build gets pushed further back due to lack of funds, then i'll just have to chill all next year, and just do whatever random events i can get to.
the plan was, build the car, test the car a little, and hit XDC all year. i still havent made progress on the new car... though. trying to get out of debt for 2010...lol

thanks dude. my friend came up on these in japan, and is going to let me cop them for my car.
also, not trying to turn this into an FS thread, but anyone looking for coilovers, motor, turbo2 drivetrain, or swap parts message me or reply here. need to fund the build, and all this stuff has to go.

I'm listing my motor for sale, or trade. (photos at bottom)
i can give you just the keg, or throw in the intakes, injectors, harness, clutch, FD flywheel, starter ETC. just let me know what you want and i'll price it out for you.
as far as trades go, i'm only looking to get a 1jz, or an LS1. i'm throwing this up on Craigslist also, so let me know, as it will sell fast.
the motor is still in my car, and can be started/rev'd until the cops come and shut us down. lol it doesnt over heat (although if your cooling system isn't in good working order i cant guarantee anything, but i have 2 gauges, and both are accurate as you will see.)
it starts everytime. doesnt hesitate, doesnt flood out. the turbo is not for sale currently as its not mine. i will know in a few days what the deal is with it.
anyways, if anyone's interested in making their car faster let me know while its here. would prefer for it to go to someone on here who it'll benefit than into a dunebuggy or someshit.

asking price will vary due to what you want with it.
the complete motor with harness, ecu, fuel pump, injectors, clutch, starter, and trans is $2,500. will throw in the driveshaft if purchased/traded.
just drop it in and go.
feel free to bring a compression tester. i have no problems with you verifying that its good.
looking for an LS1, with 6speed trans, or (preferably) a 1JZ, and an R154 tranny ONLY.
thos are what im set on, so if you have one, contact me.
for $2,500 i'll include everything needed (minus intercooler/throttlebody elbow) to get you rolling.
fuel pump.
harness.
oil cooler/lines.
driveshaft.
starter.
complete motor.
6puck clutchnet clutch.
flywheel.
injectors.
ECU
(thats a steal considering this is a complete motor that comes with everything needed) if no one bites on this it'll be parted out, so first come first serve. im not holding anything for anyone unless i see cash monies in my pocket.

Oh man. Abandoning the rotary huh? Well I have thought about his myself quite a bit. I'm just wondering why you would prefer a 1JZ to an LSX. When I was looking at going piston I thought the scales were heavily favored to going (In my case) LS1. They have kits out there the wiring is easy. I even found a write-up on how to convert your stock subframe to support the LS1.

but truthfully that's all it is. if you have a V8 car you're expected to kill it. it's a given. the sound sucks (forced induction solves this)
1J's sound sick. theyre bullet proof. the tranny's are strong. most 2j **** is interchangeable (some things, not alot) the turbo is still on the passenger side which made me really not want the SR/nissan swap. i have one locally, that i've checked out, and it comes complete, minus the things i intend to upgrade.
wiring isnt a big deal. i'm just going to buy a painless chassis/engine harness kit, and not **** around this time.
JebusFC told me that it is a litttle different feeling compared to the rotary, and i'm hoping i can just eliminate that feeling with suspension setup, and maybe mounting it further back into the firewall. if i cant find a happy mounting spot, then i'll re-evaluate the build. i'm kinda stuck until the 2011 XDC rulebook is issued to see if theyre going to allow modifications to the firewall or not.
The LS would be a cool swap from what i hear. i like the way the trannys feel. i have hookups on these motors, i just love topend crazy boosted cars, and to drive them correctly takes more skill (hopefully no one takes offense to this) i just dont want to throw an LS in my car, and if i start driving better from having power, i dont want everyone to be like, "oh now he's killing it with a V8".

No doubt. There will be haters if you go LSX, 1JZ, or stick with a rotary. There are always haters regardless. 9 out of 10 top 10 formula D drivers use V8. Like I said earlier it is an easy and common swap for RX7s as well.
If I decided to ditch the rotary LSX is the only way to go for me. Easy swap, reliable power, loads of information, and easy to find chevy parts anywhere in the states. Who cares about how it sounds, it performs.

You now about R154's with remote and non remote etc?
Remote is about 100mm further back and will line up same as stock FC
Non remote like mine will need a kink.
Thats assuming you mount without modding the firewall

oh that's cool, it's just an add on piece like the 13b-Turbo trannys how they have that bolt on neck that sits further back.
sounds hard to find though.
pretty cool thread with info.

i like the one that was custom made. that looks like an easier route is to just fab up a custom extension, and use the MK3 shifter instead of the harder to find soarer unit.. i'm going to keep researching. thanks man! seriously helps a bunch!
