dude. there are events in indy and the chicago area and southern indiana quite often.

 

The events held at the NOS (national orange show) center are held by drift buffet. their fun events and sometimes at the oval terry holds amatuer comps. My friend matt one a few of them and ended up getting invited to Pro-am. if you want any more info on them pm me.

 

Tons of events here in S.Cali. We also have some of the best FC action in the country. JustDrift.com holds a lot of events at Willow Springs. Oval, Balcony2 and HTM. You can learn from top drivers (FD Licensed, D1 Licensed) or drive against some of them in competition. (starts in Feb)

One thing most people forget to mention is that a lot of serious drift drivers started in some sort of grip sport and are involved in all sorts of motor sports.

 

and theres also drift day's held every month at el toro AFB. there good events for beginners and sometimes they make some gnarly tracks later on in the day. they had this good one, my friend was hitting 4th gear sweeper on it in his sc300

 

Was it on the base or just near it? Because if it was on the base the commander there needs to talk to the commander here so I can just get up 20mins before events instead of the day before then drive 4 hours.

 

it was on a few unused air strips right near a trailer storage. they're okay surface but its 120 or so for a good 8 hours of drifting

I will be driving on HTM sometime later this year just wait ya'll. That is whenever I can afford tires, gas, tune up, oil, some new springs, alignment, dammit, damn school!!! But I love it, UCLA girls are so fine!

martinsorlie i agree but one thing i've learned is to ignore/respect other ppls thoughts and perspectives. alot of people dont agree with each others thoughts on things and people will state them.

Sorry, higgi, but what track races do you see drifting in? Rallies are a different beast all together, and even there, drivers are trying to drive sideways as little as possible.

Motorsport is not just drag, circuit and rally racing. Drifting is another class you can compete in, it has its own rules and everything else what others do have. I do compete in national drift events and as well tried my luck in King of Europe event and i dont think of it being any less 'race' than other races...

If you dont like it, well, its up to you. I dont like drag races and cant seem to find anything special about them, but i understand that for a lot of people its serious racing...

 

I don't dislike drifting. I don't dislike drifting. I've drifted around tracks before.

But to me, a race is an objective contest where the aim is to be the quickest as possible.

Motorsport doesn't include just races. There's racing, and there's the other stuff. Drifting falls in the other stuff category. It's still motorsport though. Drifting has everything that the other forms have except one thing, and that's what makes it not racing. It lacks a clock and an objective standard of measurement. Even the chairpersons of the drifting organizations say explicitly, in interviews, "Drifting is not Drift Racing."

Drifting isn't a race, it's a contest of skill, judged by a subjective panel of judges. No one disputes it's a motorsport, it is. We just don't call it racing.

 

DRIFTING IS NOT RACING. Holy ****!! I'm tired of people bringing this **** up.

A races winner is determined by time and or who finishes first. Drifting requires neither to win! Maybe it does where you live but not in the places where people from different countries come to compete. Drifting for speed is stupid, period!

Drifting is certainly a technique but more for driving, racing not so much, but then again it's up to perception. Some ff owner *** dragging around a corner is not drifting imo but to him it could be super jdm jurift tyte to the max, and I just see him as a ricer and he sees himself as cool. But no matter what your opinion is, drifiting is not racing. I think alot of people still dont know drifting was around for over 20 years before that lame *** fast and furious movie came out.

If you call it "drift racing" you are just a lamo poser and have no idea what the hell you are talking about. People who dont know what the hell they are talking about but try to "stick up for drifting" are the main reasons other motor sports enthusiasts hate people who drift, even though the people who talk **** online are the main ones drifting on the street thinking they are hot **** when they really cant drive for ****. (this paragraph was not intended for anyone in this thread as i know of, unless you feel it pertains to you).

 

Competetion drifts are not a racing technique, however, in certain rare circumstances the understanding and ability to drift is very useful. i also am a big advocate in having many tools at my disposal to complete a task, if that task is a corner and the best tool is a drift, ill use it. however i have found this to be very rare.

 

and of couse by drift i do mean a throttle/ clutch glide, none of that fast and the furious ebrake and kill yourself bullshit that these people in my town try to pull

 

on the other hand though, i kinda feel as if drag racing is nothing but a benchmark. thoughts on this for my own educational purpose ( i am after all just an impressionable kid)
