distr0's 87 Arctic Silver rx7

So, I suppose this car needs a thread, and I need a place to lay out some plans

FIRST, a pic dump: (excuse the mess of the garage, we just moved in recently)

new tool box

turbo setup, etc all waiting

Plans for the car - stage 1 (over the next month or 2)

Stage 1 is going to be basically making the car work in close-to-stock form (minus emissions crap, unneccessary systems)

- remove damn near everything - engine, trans (obviously, auto), blue interior, rear subframe w/ dif, etc, brakes, steering, emissions, blah, blah....

- install t2 drivetrain (trans, driveshaft, dif, axles, hubs, brakes), some sort of engine (probably just a n/a s4 13b right now), t2 black interior, t2 front brakes and 5-bolt hubs

- also, major cleaning, degreasing, fix any rust that might be found

Stage 2 (some point this year)

Once the car is running to my liking in stock form, the car will be converted to run on megasquirt

Stage 3 (next winter)

once all necessary parts are collected, boost will be applied - stock s5 t2 setup

That's pretty much the plan so far, at least what I can remember off the top of my head... probably forgetting some things!

Questions/Comments/Complaints/Inspirations/Ideas?

Cool project and welcome to the forum. That car looks to be in good cosmetic shape. How long have you had it?

Garage was actually a woodshop before we moved in (month and a half ago), its been a ton of work getting it to the current condition, and its still far from where I want it to be

Removed 1.1 tonnes of garbage (knocked down walls, removed shelves, etc)

all fluids drained (dam, auto transmisions are a PITA and make a huge mess)

engine is mostly striped now

heatshields all removed

interior mostly removed. found a bit of a pickle here. angle of drivers floor vs passenger floor. looks like the car was dropped on a jack on the frame or something

hopefully a hammer and 2x4 will convince it to straighten back out. anyone had this happen before??

If your manifold heat shields are too rusted do you want another set? I have a new OEM set that I'm selling!

Good progress man

You should be able to pound the floor out, that's right where the u channel runs under the car someone must of thought it was a good jack point

dash and doorcard out... apparently the car was pre-wired for power windows?! i plugged in a motor and a switch, and it works. not sure if that's normal or not? either way, saves me a bunch of trouble

few little things done recently, front brakes removed, other small bits ripped out

tested a motor that's sat for 6 years under a tarp, seems to still have good compression so hoepfully it'll be good to drop in and drive this year. next winter i'll build a motor right
