i've been picking away at the car a bit... collecting parts, cleaning inches of grease and dirt from every crevice
getting ready to put the engine together.. need to pick up gaskets and such still
took a closer look at the turbo last night. wastegate looks a little toasty. it this normal?

got out to the garage for a bit last night
trans mounted up
and in... cleaned the engine bay up a little more as well
car is up in the air again for fuel lines to be run
started mounting up injectors and rails. removed pulsation dampner as well.
i seem to have a lot of play on the secondary injectors... am i missing something here?

still picking away at the car. kinda decided that I'm in no rush, and working on the car is more of a hobby anywyas
I seem to have a bit of a snag with motor/transmission placement though. started a new thread here - any help is appreciated!

I think I moved the FPR to the other side of the rail and ditched the pulsation dampener to accomodate the turbo on that S5 N/A keg I ran in my red TII. I wasn't running a heater core, so the space didnt matter to me and I probably needed the room on the other side for the turbo oil feed line.
If those are my old fuel rails, I changed around alot of stuff on them to suit my build.
If you google some TII engine bay pictures, it's a pretty close fit anyways. But the FPR is longer than the PD, and I think that's where the PD should go.

yup, started and ran for half a minute or so, revved up and everything. lots of smoke so i shut it down pretty quickly. it takes a whole bunch of cranking and playing with timing and throttle to start though, so there's still issues to work out
pardon the wiring mess, lots of stuff is still temporary. it will be cleaned up!

car is mostly together, interior is close to done... should have it car on the road this year
ran in to a few snags with parts lately. both brake and clutch master cylinders are leaking and i snapped a bleeder on the rear caliper (then snapped an extractor bit off inside it) so those all need to be replaced. getting close though
