i was sick as hell last week so not much has been done
last few bits of blue interior removed
added the man pedal
started working on the 'new' motor and had a bit of an accident removing the water pump housing. ripped the mount right off the iron, and the housing is STILL siezed on. fml

The path of least resistance was to break the cast iron ear off before separating the pump housing from the iron, lol.
Pretty strong galvanic corrosion, where'd you find that, the bottom of a lake?

came across some strange/hacked wiring, i'm trying to identify its purpose and whether it can be removed

im failing at updates
the rear end is all together and the car is pretty much roll-able... other car decided to have like 54 different issues all at the same time though, so money/time has been spent on it recently instead of the rx7

Tore down the two motors i have.
It's still good, right?
Coolant wall failure
These two housings look really good, except for one big gouge (far edge of back housing). Is this typical of the older 3-piece apex seal engines? This one is low-mileage and its still got this deep gouge

Looks like there might be a triangular apex corner seal piece induced groove in the chrome that goes around the housing - it is not uncommon to see other wise decent housings with a groove like that.
If the next apex corner piece rides in that type of groove, the engine will probably not last very long.
I have heard of people installing apex seals backwards for budget builds with similar housings.
Some of the aftermarket apex seals have a different (less pointy) apex corner seals design to reduce that type of wear. e.g. goopy, atkins
Other nicks on the exhaust side are liveable for budget rebuilds as long as it can't catch an apex.
