I must add that Atkins provided some pretty optimistic proclamations on what the charger would do which motivated my decision as well. If someone had ever taken me for a ride in an FD before going forward I would surely be running a turbo and standalonge configuration today. Buttttt. I still thought my original engine would hold up, but in hindsight, who the hell would put a turbo let alone a s/c on a 20 yr old engine with 140,000km. Live and learn. It's like being married, compromise compromise.

Hahahah this is hilarious. Adam always does this to anyone who critisises him. Adam your richer than I am, better looking, and your ***** is twice as large as mine. You build engines for a living I don't. I don't doubt you have expensive tools, I just doubt you still use them. If you did e shafts wouldnt be mushroomed, and impact sockets wouldnt break trying to take off front eshafft bolts. You own a shop and do work for the public, that means your open to critisism, you may not like it, you may not like me or Chris or Greg or Neal or....... You may not believe, and try listening this time I DON"T GIVE A ****. I don't give a **** if anybody believes me. If they don't they'll take their car to your shop and learn their lesson soon enough. Have a good evening

I now see the ability of the setup and I now know what its capable across all 3 engine configurations.
That's a fair statement. I appreciate that Alak

I figured this was as good a time as any to redeem myself. I have other information I learned reicently related to the chargers, and since the subject came up, I thought the timing was right. But the infor is not related to this thread. So I'll keep them to myself for now. It will be a conversation peice at the meet, if you boys come around.

Just one more reason not to bring your car to or have an engine built at Adam's shop folks. I don't think any of us believe you have memorized every single specification needed to build a motor Adam, in fact that's a little scary, actually that's really scary. But it explains a HELL of alot, in fact it's all kind of making sense now.

Just putting in my 2 cents, before going to the new thread. Although I have not delt with anyone other than Adam yet, Adam has been very fair to me and the only problem i have had coming out of his shop was a missing heatshied screw (caused an annoying rattle), and a shippment that didn't arrive when I was told it would, but I know you can't blame shipping on the shop because that is always done by an outside source, but no big deal these things happen. I will still go there for things I need and when something bad happens or if something bad happens, I will just talk to the person of what ever shop it is at the time and DEAL with it, not post bad things about it.

Now to make it clear I am not bashing anyone or defending anyone, I just think this taking over a good thread a little childish.

You can bring your feeler guages and I will bring my digital dial indicator. The faster the time, the more credits for new parts. This way you cant spend 10 hours on porting to be as good as mine. The engines will be compression tested and run up to 20 LBS boost in the same car. Of course there will be a time limit just like there is when a shop has to finish in a certain amount of time. We'll see which one runs better. I'll kick your f...ing *** and I'll put $10,000 on it right now! What will you wager?

Would that be my $10,000 or Greg's? Just wondering since I'm sure both of us would like our money back for work you did - or didn't do. Hell, I would even settle for the amount that I am going to have to pay the new owner of my car to fix the things you did.

I'm with Chris - give us an example of a LOCAL car that you have built and tuned that made any kind of power at all. I'll even arrange the dyno day. Don't you find it odd that with such a small RX7 community here in Calgary that the only cars that the enthusiasts know of that are making decent power belong to guys who did the work themselves? With all the business you do here I would think there are tons of guys you could proudly name who are running around with big power cars.

Here, I'll even try to help you. IS THERE ANYONE HERE ON THIS FORUM WHO KNOWS OF OR HAS SEEN A LOCAL CALGARY CAR THAT WAS BUILT AND TUNED BY ADAM THAT HAS MADE ANY POWER AT ALL? IT HAS TO A BE A LOCAL CAR - ONE THAT CAN BE VERIFIED.

Surely there must be somone who can back up your stories. I'm pretty sure the guys like Petit that you are so fond of comparing yourself to could easily do so in their neck of the woods. And you can't use the excuse that nobody is willing to pay to have it done since I'm pretty sure that with the money in this town there are a lot of guys who have the coin and are willing to put it into a car.

Why not show us all up and put that monster 3 rotor you advertise as laying down 600 hp that none of us have seen run to a dyno? Hell, come out to the track - I organize the Porsche Club events and I'm sure I could find you a spot in the lineup. Just as long as you bring a car that you built and tuned - the Lambo doesn't count because even though it was bought from the proceeds of poorly running RX7's I'm pretty sure it was made by some guys in Italy.

You are right, the challange is not fair. I just dont think I deserve to be accussed of not using the right tools and putting in the wrong shaft as the statements are false. The only thing left is for TD07 to answer how he knows the shaft is a second gen shaft which he has beat around the bush for several posts and will not otherwise revoke his assumptions if he does not know the difference. If he took the engine apart...and he is not Max....then who the F... could possibly be taking apart any other 3rd gen engine which the shaft is in question. HMMM? This is clearly BS comments to **** disturb especially scince this annonymous person has joined this month yet knows all about the stories that have taken place here and has taken apart at least 2 of my engines and no customers have brought any of this to my attention? This is why you cant trust everything you hear. I will always show ANYONE who wants to know what they are getting and why. Take pictures for all I care. There is no question we can build the best engines available and I've been asked by lots of different shops in the US who have names some of you respect and talk highly of to do their work for them. Incl. porting, balancing, dowell pinning. and rotor cutting. And they all buy our apex seals incl. Rohan from Extreme Rotaries who advertizes them as "Metal Technologies". He has guys from PR and local Austrailia and now Japan asking for them. He wont use anything else for his builds and if you guys want to keep on critisizing shops like his just for the sake of telling everyone to stay away from us and all the shops who offer good stuff....go ahead. Just get your facts straight. You dont know cause you dont know. And you defintely dont know who's ***** is bigger unless you've been spying on me....dont make claims about the e-shaft etc unless you identify yourself and tell us whos engine you are referring to. Otherwise, why should anyone beleive you either? As always, come on over and say what you have to say face to face!
Otherwise you are just a coward looking for attention hiding behind a user name.

PS Gary and Brett....you are both stand up guys who are showing these know it alls how to behave, you have my full respect
Sincerely, Adam Heyman

Adam from the very begining if I explain the difference in the shafts your just going to say I went and researched it after the fact. If I don't say the difference your going to say I don't know. Either way.......It's your usual teqnique, you ignore all the other stuff that you can't account for and glom onto the one measly arguement you can. You keep asking why should anyone believe me? Maybe they shouldnt. I don't give a ****, I think I've said that for the 10th time now. If your business and clientele and reputation is as strong as you say, you shouldnt be bothered by a little "**** disturber". Like you say I'm just some new guy with little to no posts, who joined this month, I have NO credibility here. Adam I have no desire to meet you face to face, I'd say the exact same things and make the exact same claims to your face, and you would refute them, what's that going to prove?

People will decide on their own as I'm sure you know. If they choose to believe the ramblings of a "internet **** disturber" then good for them. If they choose to bring their car to your shop, maybe it will go well for them, maybe it won't, maybe they won't know the difference, I don't care much.

I appreciate you found your "challenge" unfair. The comment regarding the torque wrenches is because I've seen you with my own eye's put the final dowel pins in with an impact gun. I've seen you with my own eye's put the front pulley bolt in with an impact gun. Those are things I've seen, and verified with one other who's visited your shop and watched you whip a motor together. THe eshaft is an arguement I guess I can't win. You don't beleive me, and franky I don't care. The person who's motor it is I'm sure will bring this to your attention at some point, cosidering he'll have to buy a new eshaft for his build, along with other internal parts now deemed useless for various reasons ie) Rotars not milled for 3mm properly.

Adam, i sent you a pm to reply to the one you sent me. i wouldn't have had a reason to leave your shop if i didn't get screwed. and yes fidel didn't get me any further ahead that was another episode. as you can see i have had the worst luck with that car and seriously debated putting a stock engine back in it and selling it. Max on the other hand, lived and worked in Japan building and tuning rotaries. he knows his ****. he's not trying to steal customers away from you. he's just a simple guy who owns a company and fixes air conditioning for a living who happens to love rotory engines and his hobby is working on the five he owns and all of his engines run smooth and have good compression.

if you want to meet face to face, you have my number. quit trying to defend yourself and try listening to the people that have had bad experiences with you and maybe you can redeem yourself by somehow making things right.

Ya know what Eric...the only silence that has taken place over the past eight years is YOU and your lack of bringing your concerns of your car to my attention. Everytime you post it is always the same whinning crap. Wheres my 10,000??? Will Adam refund me still after 8 years? You dont even own the car anymore! And your saying youll have to compensate your new buyer. What pretense did you sell him the car? You pay me and then when the car breaks I'll go after RX7 Spec. 8 years later and get the $ from him. Give us a break. You know, you say that "everyone" who reads these posts agrees that I just defend and I dont deal with the issues addressed? Well guess what...its not everyone cause not only do I have customers who attend the meets calling you down as "solo 1 **** disturber" but they have also posted and agreed with me by saying..."You 4 in particular...if you have had a problem with RX7's work....dont bitch on the Forum....go down and take it up with them personally!" Yes Eric, you've read that before. And I will be the first to say that not only do I aggree with them about you being a **** disturber...but you are the BIGGEST coward of them all. I just got off the phone with Greg cause he agreed we should talk. He posted that Max noticed crossed plug wires etc on his 3rd gen....but he did not realize that "Fidell" had his engine entirely out of his car when doing the GT35R kit and the coil packs and wiring harness were removed and reinstalled by Fidell (his last mechanic who touched his car last)
There was some clearing of the air and he understood my concerns of calling him a coward hiding behind a user name and not talking to me face to face. And I understood some of his concerns about where his frustrations came from....especially scince Fidell told hime his turbos and rotor housings were used! He does not know any better and he admits it....so he got swooped by Fidell who tryed to play the "Hero" and get Gregs business. Now that Greg recalls me showing him a real set of used turbos and used rotor hsngs. he acknowledges that Fidell was just in for the big sell! And he is pissed at Fidell....but he didn't know he was being sold by a guy who has never touched a rotary in his life. Greg and I will meet in person tomorrow and at least try to deal with some stuff within 2.5 years.
Whereas myself nor many others will never understand your tactics of resolving our issues as your tactic is to jump up and down trying to get my attention posting the same old sob story. I appologized to you 2 years ago for any dis satisfaction you had. I admitted that we had releyed on "Hurley" back then to do the 3mm machine work and caused us to have to redo your engine twice. I also acknowledged that "Aaron Hayes" our old eledged wiring expert royally made a mess of the Wolf installation. He got fired within one year. I admitted I had employee problems which any business can go through. You just persist on "**** disturbing" for what reason??? Those who ask about "soloracer"'s beef with me say "what does he expect to accomplish by this whinning behavior"? I answer....he wants to share to the world his bad experience with RX7 Specialties. But they say....its one thing to repeat the same old boreing story ovor and over....but he keeps referring to compensation! I say, "I dont know....ask him"? Then its the same old "where the 3 rotor car" "Put the Lambo away and drive your FD". and "I organize the Porsche club....Porsche this ...Porsche
that. If you have such a problem with the other cars i drive....quit telling the world about your Porsche BS. And I have news for you....my 20B FD is not the only Mazda I own or have driven each season. Heck, the silver car at Max's place which I supposedly put a second gen e-shaft into....that car belonged to me. I brought it up from the US and drove it for 6 ******* months. I have had one or 2 different 3rd gens every year. I just sold my Anniversary T2 6 months ago which I owned for 4 years. I have a 20B Cosmos with mods which I daily drive. So STFU with the "20B FD" crap. Its OLD and getting stupid. If you are so desperate to see a 20B FD on the road....convert your FD you claim to own. Ya know Eric, at least I can say that the whole time I have been posting I had an RX of some kind....you were hitting this forum when you were driving the Porche year in and out and had long scince sold your FC. Bottom line, you never came down to talk to me....you never addressed an idea for compensation when you actually owned the car....you never once asked me if there was anything I could do about a refund. But instead of being any knid of a man you hide behind this user name and Bitch about it over and over. Same thing every time. That is why Ryan told you guys to make your claim and move or ship out. Besides, I thought you said your goodbyes to this forum! I even told you in a post not too long ago to call me....you havent done **** in 8 years! I'll go back and read the posts where some (even guys who have never used us) said I should deal with this problem and that problem if you go back and read posts where guys who have and haven't used us said "dont bitch if your going to act like a COWARD and not face RX7 Spec. man to man". The invitation for you to contact me is still open but after this....dont look for sympathy! Adam Heyman

Nice to see the range of rotary powered vehicles you own. Why haven't you come out to any gatherings? Too bad the only cars that you own that got any face time was the 20B FD and the Lamborghini Diablo via the "Exotic Car Experience" where people would pay money to get a ride in it at the track. The 20B FD was also at the car shows and in ads in magazines for your shop, so it's natural that we want to see what it can do and realize the performance of 600HP in a light car like the FD. *shrug* The appeal of the 20B FD to get buzz about your shop works.......so why is that surprise that we want to know more about it and see it run?

Gotta chime in... Hopefully I can be seen as somewhat of an impartial observer. I've had some good experiences and some bad experiences at the shop, so I could really be classified as a fence sitter. One of my worst experiences (though not costly to me) was when I had RX7 replace my headlight switches. They installed switches that had the washer fluid switch broken and Adam refused to reinstall another properly tested set. (Btw, I stood there in front of the counter for about an hour arguing about it face to face like you've asked here so many times Adam - do you remember?)

But that is balanced with some good experiences also. I'm currently driving a GSL-SE that RX7 rebuilt, ported, and redid the exhaust. My uncle got the work done about 4 years ago and I bought it from him about 2 years ago. It pulls pretty strong and still runs good as a daily driver. Could it have had more power - maybe, I've never even dyno'd it. FWIW I think it's tuned not all that great though... Adam's also been pretty good helping get obscure parts, esspecially now that Mazda is a pain; and that's very appreciated.

Anyways I think there are two things worth noting. 1) If Adam had a good mechanic (and maybe he does currently, I dunno) who was meticulous and careful I think we could trust the shop. I find that carelessness and attention to detail (or lack thereof), rather than a fundamental lack of knowledge, is the biggest problem with RX7. 2) I'm turned off by Adam's responses in threads like these. It's very clear to me that myself and a lot of others like me would probably greatly appreciate an olive branch being extended to the community. (in the form of running the FD, organizing meets, maybe even a track day like the Porsche club)

For me if the carelessness was addressed, then it comes down to consistent integrity. If Adam were involved in the community and seen to be trying to make things right, then it would go a long, long ways. But instead of posting honest repsonses like "hey, I'm sorry about that man. What can we do to make things right?" we never even get an acknowledgment of responsibility. Instead just endless accusations and irrelevant tangeants that avoid the primary grievance. The personal conduct in this thread is nothing to be proud of, and that could never help win customers... Treat people fairly with honesty and responsibility, and start fostering a spirity of community (ever-more important as our cars get older and demand a person to be an enthusiast to maintain) and people will come around. Maybe not everyone, but most of us.

P.S. The contraversy excuse is lame. Organize something and people who don't want to come won't come. There is no contraversy. Organize 5-10 and most of your detractors would probably come around too. Not all of them of course. Actions speak much louder than words.

Geez Adam, try and keep it civil. No need to get your tighty whiteys in a knot. If the meds you are taking don't seem to be working maybe it's time to talk to your pharmacist about switching prescriptions.

To the best of my knowledge there is no silver FD at Max's place - I think the car you are referring to is still with the owner - and for your information I have consistantly owned either an FD or FC for the past 8 years. I only recently sold my T2 - like 6-8 months ago. I owned it the entire time that I have been driving my 944 Turbo (over 6 years) all of which is irrelevant. The part that is relevant is that I sold the T2 but told the owner that the engine should probably be tore down. I fully expected that it would be a case of throwing in new seals and he would be away to the races. I didn't expect the thrust bearing to be crushed by overtorquing the e-shaft nut, irons that were way out of spec to ever be considered using, an e-shaft that was mushroomed at the end such that getting the oil pump out was extremely difficult. So who are you going to fire for that workmanship? The only parts that were could be reused were the housings - which were showing signs of seal chatter - and the rotors - which were milled for 3mm. I ended up getting the guy new irons and replacement 2mm rotors. So even after 8 years your workmanship cost me money. Now am I looking for compensation? Nah, I really don't want anything from you nor do I expect anything from you so that is why I never asked for anything. It thing though that it is fair to note however that you have never offered anything either. So don't go laying this all on me by saying I'm a "coward". In fact, I came back to see you 3 times to fix my car and each time it got worse and worse. How much more did you want from me? I guess I just don't have the same desire see you mano-to-mano that you seem to require from me. I personally think the only reason you want to talk privately is so that what is said is not open to the public (ie: hiding) and that anything I respond afterwards with could be denied. However, if you want to leave the comfort and safety of your shop and meet me somewhere let me know. I've even given you my phone number to call if you so desire but so far you haven't called. I'm not the only one who has the ability to dial a phone.

I could put a 20B into my FD (which I do own by the way - you implied I didn't) but since I now own a big turbo 20B FC I don't see the need. Chances are it won't take me as long to get the FC on the road is it's taking you to get the FD going.

Now back on point here, I politely asked if there was anyone locally that could represent your shop - yourself included - by showing us all a high horsepower car that you built or tuned. You represent yourself as an expert, high end specialist that does quality work and from my experience that has not been the case. If you can't give even one example some people might consider the way you represent yourself as being irresponsible. Sort of like if I told people I painted award winning cars for the Barret Jackson car show and then when they trusted me to live up to my self promoted reputation I took their money and gave them a tremclad roller job. I would think the easiest way to shut me up would be to give me an example - and not some guy in Greece that we never heard of either. Just a local guy here. So why not name one? Is it because you can't?

Felgar: Well put. Do you want to know what the amazing thing is? It's not all that hard to rent the track and put on a track day. After getting my feet wet doing it for the Porsche Club I went ahead and did a private one for myself and a few friends (10 cars total). It only costs $640 to rent the south end of the road course for an evening. If I get time I may do another one and make it an RX7 only event.

adam, if you have so much time to talk too everyone you requested "man to man" and type up long posts, then you should go to a meet and show all your everyone what you have to say. you wouldn't want to be hiding like those you accuse of right?

Really? Wow, that's cool solo. And anyone can do it? Man, I'm gonna have to give that some thought. There are some friendly rivalries in my family that would make a day out to the track an awesome experience. I've never driven on a track before but want to get into it because it seems the trend in society is to freak out at anyone who even considers bending the traffic laws.

After spending my 30-45 minutes reading this whole thread, I'd just like to say this.

I'll be there with my red FD, and more importantly... a crate of beer, it sounds like we may need it.

Secondly, I think I speak for everyone when I say that we would all love to see Adam show up, in his 20B FD.

Hehehehehe.

Holy **** this thread is going on and on. Its really late and I just got home 1.1/2 hours ago and I pretty tired so I gotta go to sleep soon. Anyway, after taking some time to read some of this stuff....you guys are making alot of sense! I think what the message about our involvement with the RX7 communtiy (leisure not work).....we have definitely been lacking. I am not doing the Exotic car experience anymore as it was too rough on the cars and it simply just took up too much of my time. I'll get to the point. I would organize, attend, sponsor...door prises...whatever the general public here wants. But....I dont want to disturb or disrupt by holding a meet whereby the two sides cause fights and hold me responsible. You guys were there first and I basically felt I should but out. I have experiennce with Race city track days and drives when I was a member of the Exotic car club. (track and drives)....which I am not anymore. I have norrowed my passion to rotary cars and thats pretty much it. The other was fun for a while but too pompice for my liking and not fitting in with my everyday livelyhood. I have only one tatoo and it is a rotor....I think a "for life " statement like that tell me where my heart is. Yes staff has been an issue. And yes we are too busy and we dont feel we've been fair with our customers lately. I want to have no hard feelings just like any other business....but it seems like in the minds of some....there is too much water under the bridge. Which is why we do alot of R&D and manufacturing which cators to everyone around the world. The main focus has always been our local loyal customers. I can never thank those enough for you part in a sucessful business. I have to accept that some feel we are not a worthy shop...but I think you are missing out on 16 years of dedicated connections and services which we earned. I have heard some say that we have reaped the benefits of those jobs which may have had a mistake attetched to it....and thus paid for my Lambo. To be forward....RX7 Specialties had not much to do with the income required to afford certain things I have. In fact I tried to defend myself once by showing the other businesses I own and investments I make to be a source on its own to suppliment any given aspect of how I make money. The bottom line is....we have had to re-do jobs just like other businesses where we take the good with the bad. We know where we are good and better than most we have seen. Sometimes when you reley on other businesses for their co-operation....disaster strikes and the customer is out of using the car for 3 weeks sometimes. Compensation has been done and I am not opposed to it. But I cannoit read minds Eric....when you just dissappear....we cant assume you want a phone call if we arent aware of what you want. The issue of you bringing the car back 3 times does not justify the 7 1/2 years of dropping hints that we owe you some knid of money. It wont happen until the right steps are taken. And sometimes it must be dealt with in a reasonable amount of time. I am glad that the 20B car hype and pressure has been explained. I see all of your points. I have explained it that we use the car for R&D and manufacturing. But now that you've opened my eyes. I promise to deliver the car running by late season. Its the best I can do right now. And Eric, I am glad you are building a 20B car too. You should maybe re-forward your ph. # as I didnt receive it ...maybe PM and we can sit down and talk. Not so much about the Old FC but the 20B parts we make specific to 20B engines. If you ahvent already done so, I would be happy to donate some custom RX7 Specialties 20B / FC install brackets (direst fit / bolt in) for your car. They are as nice as our subframe FD. The other things are aluminum billet secondary 1600 rail kits and dual pump brackets. And there is more. Would be happy to see you try our stuff complimentary. If you dont like them....give them back. Anyway, I'll see hwat I can do about a date for the FD 20B car and I will listen to your feedback about organizing events.

Thanks for the input and sorry about the drama within this thread!

Sincerely, Adam Heyman

That post was much appreciated and insightfull. I'm willing to admit I'm quick to anger, and love conflict. I thrive off of it in my person life as well. I think I do myself a dis-service sometimes, but it's the way I am. I really only see things from RX-7 Specialties if something has gone wrong, that's just the way it works. I stand by the questionable things I've seen and revealed, and I will continue to be vocal regarding these deficiences. However I wan't to make this very clear, I wan't in NO way this situation to impact a possible community in this city. I am mature enough that if events are planned by RX-7 Specialties that I will either A) Not attend. B) Keep my beefs to myself if I go. People in the city deserve things like an RX-7 track day or dyno day etc....I think that using this beef as an excuse for why RX-7 Specialties has never organized anything like that is a bit of a cop out, but it sounds like Adam is willing to change that, and that's all that matters now. I look forward to seeing what Adam can make his car do, and customers cars do. Erik asked Adam to show him a high hp car that he's built and tuned here in town, doesnt sound like there is one, or one he can show us, so he's gonna build one? That's cool.

On a side note the "leg" work of Eriks 20b FC is done, it's really pretty close to going. I wouldnt mind getting some face time with that Motec and hear that thing run.

Well it sounds like there is definately the potential to resolve the issues for good. I say this after reading Rx7Specialties' last post. I wish something similar had happened with some of the shops in Ontario. Unfortunatelty, it is rare to see an owner of a business acknowledge that there maybe some problems. If I were an Albertan I would seize upon the opportunity to re-unite the local rotary community.

Just an Ontarians 2 cents.
