my thumb is healing pretty well, starting to develop some feeling and strength..
still need to be carefull for some time to come!
i had made a brake stopper a couple of weeks ago, but forgot to take a picture.
went on with the waterpump piping, last one can be fit as soon as my last bends come in. it's a real pain to get everyting fo fit between the engine and tunnel
the rest of the weekend I spent most of my time polishing..
intakeadapter, compression tube, intercooler, oiltank, oilcap
i really hate it, but couldnt do much more because of mu thumb and lack of parts at the moment. but im loving the result!

yesterday had the final parts welded for the cooling system.
only need to hook up the controlling unit for the pump and finish it all up
added some connections for heater and turbo
breather cap needed to be on the highest point, but had to raise it for access without having to remove the entire intercooler.
position is perfect!
hardest part was the connection from engine to top of the radiator.
had to incorporate the breather and 2 watertemp sensors
maybe starting next weekend???

car didn't start.. no spark and no fuel..
after a long search it turned out to be a bad CAS. switched mine with one on a running FC and didn't start.
now i need to wait for the new one!
BUT, i have plenty of work, so i just went on with the build.
finished the tunnel, so the bumper can be mounted again.
really pleased on the result, but I will make it all black because the aluminium stands out too much
mounted the filter again, its a tight fit
decided not to make an airbox, because i dont think I will really need it right now and it would not really fit into my design.. there is a hole underneath the filter where i will make a feed for fresh air.
made a cover plate for the engine bay to hide all the brackets and wiring.
its just open enough to get to the waterpump controller and fusebox
plate will be black also because it draws too much attention.
also figured out something special for some tow-hooks..

my week off has passed already.. still didn't get a chance to start the car because my CAS has not been delivered
luckaly i got some other pieces finished
made a budget solution for brake cooling. my old setup worked well, and this new one should work even better
cheap-*** funnel
some pvc tubing for drainage
fix it alle together for the following result

made an undertray out of Bi-Plex (PVC plate with air channels inside, lightweight and very strong!) and made a duct for the radiator
i will replace the aluminium profiel in the middel for a longer one, this was all i had at the moment. this piece makes sure no air gets between the duct and plate
had the car on some scales today to see the weight, weight distribution and corner balance.. dont mind the mess
beacuse my car did not run i couldnt go to a garage with a flat floor, so we had to figure out how to do it.
we layed out some beams and levelled them perfectly for a flat contact surface for the scales. i could just lower the car on the scales
maybe i needed to adjust the coilovers for the crossweight. but we started out weighing myself and placing similar weight in the drivers seat.
filled the tank to about half and checked what the computer says
i was shocked..!
i thought the car would weigh about 125kg, so without my weight and half a tank of fuel, that is about right.
i have been working on the car for six years now, and now it turns out i have not screwed up the balance at all!
weight distribution is still 50/50 and even the crossweight is at a perfect 50%
i am so happy my tinkering didn't screw up too much :p

its been quiet for a while as i was waiting for my new CAS.
they sent it with USPS instead of UPS.
finally got around to installing it last friday!
mail pulley on the mark, cas on the mark.... turned the key... fired up right away!
then the first problem came up`...
started and idled perfect, but if i even looked at the throttle it started to misfire, shaking, shutting down and sounding like crap!
checked all the sensor inputs, asked for help and really got a headache from trying to figure out the problem.
almost half a day later i took out the CAS once more and i noticed the sensor of the leading was a bit further away from the wheel as it was supposed to.
so i adjusted the sensor and made another attempt... success!
distance of the sensor was close enough to provide a signal for idle, but when i needed to rev it just cuts out
then the next problem..
i have the davies craig electric waterpump with controller, and it is supposed to be able to control my fans.
when the car was idling and i was looking at the powerFC settings, i did not take notice of the watertemp.
i suddenly saw 107C and shut off the engine, while at the same time a hose popped off my radiator.
everyting was covered in coolant so i had my work cut out for me..
turns out the fans are not switched on by the controller like they should, so i changed the wiring so the powerFC turns on the fans.
in the end i got all the problems sorted and started putting it all back together
took it for a spin for the first time tonight... omg!
need to do some finetuning and set up the boostcontroller but i am really impressed so far!
temps are way down like i wanted them

well, i have thought of it..
but its not feasible as there are too many variables and making this as a proper functioning kit would mean people would need the same hood, relocated parts, modified intake, electric waterpump, strubrace etc etc otherwise it will just not fit..
this would then prove to be the most expensive v-mount kit ever :p
maybe if i ever get my hands on a standard car to start engineering something like this..

Or the Engine bay/rad panel cover?

i dont have the stock hood latch anymore, so i cant work that out.
where the hoodpins go is your own choice and depends on the hood, so i cant work that out.
for mounting i pressed in some threaded plugs, because there are no real good mounting points imo.
so in the end you would get a recangular piece of aluminium sheet
with the splitter its the same story..
my car is already modified too far to use for fabricating stuff for others.
best thing would be if i could get my hands on a stock FC for measurements and such.
i do plan on fabricating a LHD brake-stopper soon.. as i only find them for RHD.

well guys, it's over for 2011...
i was competing in the Dutch Time-Attack series
but my waterpump decided to die on me in the qualifying round.
because the manufacturer has provided a fuse that is not adequate to handle the high amps drawn continuously on the track. i wasn't blown, it just melted!
The turbo is fried and turns out i blew a waterseal. engine still starts and runs perfect but it has used 0,5L of water in 50km..
i have decided not to rebuild the car in a hurry and have it running again this year.
want to do everything right the first time and take my time and not spend every sinlge day working on the car like i did the last couple of months.
i will be back in 2012, better and stronger then ever!
ps, the v-mount setup is amazing!
intake, oil and watertemps are insane and throttle response and spool were sick.
so thats a big plus that i dont have to worry about that anymore

God dammit! That sucks! There is too much amazing near perfect build that are put on pause because of so small details that blows everything. It scares me for my build.
I'm kinda pissed off, I really wanted to follow your project, but I guess I follow it in 2012!
At least you know that what you did was worth it performance wise, keep the motivation, sometimes one needs to take it slowly...
