Then either run a couple stitch welds or L-brackets to maintain strength At some point in the future I do plan on making one for my FB & then offering it as a product from my shop.
Good idea. I've seen that done with aluminum before but it didn't come to mind until u mentioned it. I also have another idea which would be easier to fabricate since it's basically flat with fins. If I end up making something, will also be from aluminum.

Now stop giving me ideas! j/k...keep em coming.

Yea, I've used that technique successfully many times, i use it to make all my metal patches & such. I was referring to aluminum as the sheet metal, though it would work just as well on either. Pointless to use steel for obvious reasons.

Was glancing at the underside of the rear of the car today and I definitely can't make a diffuser as drawn. The lowest I can bring the diffuser down is dependent on the shield right in front of the gas tank. If I go any lower, wouldn't it defeat its purpose as air would go through it instead of under it?

I'll inspect my vehicle tomorrow & I'll get back to you! I know the shield you speak of, but why can't the diffuser wrap directly beneath the tank?

So I looked at it and don't see an issue. The middle piece with fins is the only piece that requires the air to flow along the bottom, so extend it just past the gas tank and make a small lip up which could also be used for mounting purposes.

So this is what it looks like underneath my car...what's the issue? Just curious if there's something I'm not seeing :$

The way I see it is u can't build the rear diffuser as u have designed. I just don't see it could ever be that low. This is more of what I had in mind in terms of design: http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/143188-r3...diffusers.html

Attempted to install my reman'd brake master cylinder but failed. Broke my reservoir trying to put it on the new part so had to return the reman and order a new one with the new reservoir.

Ah, I see what you mean. That R33 style is cool, would be awesome. I'm still gonna try some version of what I came up with.

thanks for the pic alex. i just don't see how that's functional unless the guy custom built panels for the entire car from the front to the rear.

The thing is, I don't see how it isn't functional. If air flows over the top of that rear diffuser it will only apply downforce. However, for the middle section, majority of the air would still flow underneath through the splitters. Or at least I think so, lol. Also, the Top Secret rear diffuser for the R32 GT-R is designed the same way, leading me to believe that it must be functional.

That's not to say it wouldn't be much more beneficial with a flat bottom, or some way to keep the air underneath, which is why I plan on curling mine up in front of the gas tank. I'm gonna have to try it on and off the car whenever I finally get my car going on the track.

well, that's not really how a diffuser works. air should only travel under it...but it shouldn't matter that much for our cars, it's not like like we are building $100k+ car and spending millions for research...mostly for looks. in my case, if i attempt it, i would at least try to apply the theory behind it and make it as useful as possible, like my wing. IF i do end up doing the rear diffuser, i would also include a custom front splitter.

bought the aluminum for the side skirts. the side skirts will need to be built using two 8in wide pieces that will be put together lengthwise (the longest piece i could get was 48 inches in length, else i would of had to buy a full panel).

I agree with you there, but I think there would still be some kind of functionality. You could always do a full underbody pan lol. I still say we test it out and see what the results are & post them up! Especially since no two ppl will be making the same diffuser, it would be cool to see what kind of results were produced, if any.

Was finally able to bleed the brakes this weekend. Also re-sealed the oil pan...found oil around the bolts, guess it didn't like the permatex gray so used the right stuff this time. Hopefully no more leaks so we'll see.

Also started working on the aluminum side skirts. Here's how far I got with it so far...the hardest part was fabricating the front "end cap" piece. I initially made it out of cardboard but when I transferred it onto aluminum, it ended up being too big so had to redo it.

Completed the custom aluminum side skirts tonight. I'm quite pleased with the end result. I do need to get some stickers of some sort that say not to stand on them though.

Looks good! Are you planning on taking it up to Deals Gap or the Mitty this year?

Thanks Alex. I'm planning on going to DGRR this year. That's why I have not started the swap yet as I would not be able to finish it in time. I do need to drop it off at the painter's sometime so he can fix my little accident with the engine hoist.

tried to take advantage of the nice weather here in GA and go out for a drive in the widebody. unfortunately ran into an issue. the car stumbles upon acceleration..initially i thought maybe my fuel gauge was off and i may possibly be running out of gas (showed 3/8) so i filled her up and still the same issue. then i thought maybe it was improper venting...swooshing sound when opening gas cap which i had before as well, was only 68 degrees out, also tested by driving w/o the gas cap but same issue still. the only thing i can think of now is a bad fuel pump (bought from a forum member here). the only thing that's changed in the fuel system other than the pump is the power wire which now runs directly from a dedicated fuse via a relay. anyone have any other ideas? i've sent a pm to the seller of the pump to confirm that it was indeed a pump for the GSL-SE (i had to empty inbox) so am waiting on a response. am going to post this in the general section as well to get more eyes on the issue.

on another note, my car is still pulling to the left on braking, even after replacing the master cylinder and fully bleeding the system again. could i have a bad front passenger side caliper?

Fred I dont know if it would fit, but I would be happy to let you have my old fuel pump from my 93 fd when I get it out. I should be changing it out for a supra pump in the next couple of weeks.

Alex, I appreciate the offer but that won't fit as my car uses an external pump. Thanks though. Make sure you get a denso and not a Walbro, I speak from second hand experience.

Thanks for the advice! Glad I bought the denso pump. I looked at the Walbro but decided against it.
