So the other weekend I go ahead and start putting the set up in and ran into a major problem, The HKS manifold sits so low that the turbo would not fit... not even close... it was hitting the LIM and the frame... and sat too low for my liking in the engine bay.

After a a stress filled night of wondering what I will do I started a WTB thread to look for a manifold that might fit... only one I knew fit was a T88 manifold thanks to SpeedNYC since he ran this turbo a while back. but no luck with anything local and affordable. luckily mobeoner has a collection of crap laying around so I picked one off the floor that we had and the fitment is a 100% better...

Still need to shave the compressor housing a little bit so there is more than a mm of space from the frame, but it fits in!

yeah, that's how the car came, they don't bother me tooo much but yeah they will be going.... I have some big changes with the body and style of the car... those updates will come eventually, just want to make sure the car runs ok before dumping money on the body too much.

tell me about it... I have some body parts at home, just haven't put them on... I wanna do a whole kit and rims and all... but I would shoot my self if I do all that and my motor blows or wont run right with the new set up... car needs to survive at least 4 passes at the track before I consider any more body, I don't even care about the scratches and stuff on there. need it to run right!

Question about the stechs/eibachs. My junkyard dog is still stock ride height. I would like to move away from the AWD look , but I am a road racer at heart.

Sure a lower car looks better, and a lower c.g. would help handling. But overall, will lowering the car have a negative effect on handling? Would it be slower on a road course or autocross. I don't want a bouncy 'slammed' ride like some low riders. I still want the best handling I can muster.

Thanks.

+1. all the money ive dumped into this car is engine bay, motor, and performance. ill sneakily but body parts but they rarely make it on the car before they get sold

im no guru but love the s-techs. def improved handling and feel more confident going into harder turns...

HAHA ya man the more boner pile stacks high... I didn't think we were going to wait to chop it up... lol. just thought we were going to chop it and then figure out how it would get back together later. lol

go read Howard Coleman's suspension tech thread, he goes into great detail. Essentially a slight drop is good, slammed without proper design can negatively affect suspension geometry and screw up the handling.

While being frustrated with all the issues on putting in the turbo I figured I would do something that has to go smoothly... So I decided to put on my custom plates that came in... Even had issues with that with the screws going on lol. but it got on.

So after finally getting the turbo on the problems as always continue. small issue is the downpipe is not 100% aligning up with exhaust... then again, right now my exhaust is just laying on the braces under the car... and only i think one bracket is holding it up. so small issue... but easily fixed if I need to cut and extend.

Larger issue is the fact that the waste gate does not fit now! which sucks *****... The downpipe is so close to flange there is no way it is fitting on there now. Trying to think of my options...
1- is to try to raise the turbo using a T4 Flange so the DP sits higher. but I don't think it will still clear.
2- make a v-band bend for the wastegate. like a 45degree bend extension to get it to clear the pipe. (will be pricey to make with v-bands and clamps)
3- chop the DP at the top and extend it like 2 inches. so the pipe goes closer to the wall then the manifold/flange! (thinking this might be the cheapest route)

I guess I need to figure out where to put the bung for the wideband... I can make a extension pipe to match up to the midpipe with that on it so I can kill two birds with one stone!

Ya man that turbo looks massive in person. I got a sneak peek of your car when I stopped by to pick up the 550/1300 injector setup from Jason. Keep up the great work!
