Took her up to Formula Drift Atlanta this weekend to hang with the KMR Team. It was a blast. Only 4 guys this weekend, but they work at absolute light speed with sniper precision. It was a pleasure to work on Kyle's miata and see Nelson tune, live. The car is an absolute monster. RUnning 40psi on a 3 rotor streetport, using nitrous to keep the turbo spooled, with rally-style anti-lag off-throttle. Absolute monster. My favorite part of the car is the deadhead fuel system, with return regulator in the trunk. No fuel heat! So many people have said it can't be done on a rotary, but there it was working flawless. Maybe its time to rethink the setup Can't wait to meet up with these guys again.
Thanks to my friend Sinh for taking a few shots of the rx7
And update on the car:
I've finished the IGN-1a bracket and coils have arrived. Waiting on a harness from the best, Cody Guldstrand.

^ it was good chatting with you at the event and glad I got to see and hear this thing in person.
o man it was epic meeting you and your wife. Yall are some serious rotorheads!!!! I think my favorite part was her showing me the kangaroo jumping through your house lol. Meet again soon hopefully!
Want to thank everyone here for the motivation and support during this project! Can't believe this car is on Speedhunters this weekend. Totally unexpected!
Lately its been many pictures and not enough video. But the grind has been continued. Last night, took her for a spin, 14psi 9k rpm, holds fuel pressure this time Still some ever so slight break-up over 7.5k, need to find the time to get the AEM Smart Coils, but man the extra boost and 9k is just pull so good now

Tried out the 14v battery, works amazing. Voltage sits at 14.6 car off. Full accessories with no alternator, no less than 14.0 volts, simply ridiculous! My diode trick worked well, alternator was able to push up to 15.7 volts, but its just doesn't have enough ***** to charge this battery at 16.5 (ideal). Testing an IRP 140amp from a friend, if that can't hit 16.5 then ordering an excessive amperage alternator. Think Kenne Belle Boost A Pump, but more like Boost A Car. The fuel pumps, fans, water pumps are now savages at 15+ volts.
Highly recommend this to anyone looking for a boost to your electronics.
After I finish this, I'll worry about making the coil brackets and finally installing these ignition coils. Then its time to break the ******* transmission so we can order the dogbox kit
Can't wait. Gotta keep pushing.

Thanks for the short teaser on track, Zach. What gearbox are you using?
Still on the stocker, but going with straight cut gear set, dog-rings, upgraded input/mainshaft, and the liberty 300m output shaft, with a billet transmission pan with studs lol
here's my take on 20b and 26b rotary engine sound from low to high rpm:
brapping like it's running too rich --> silky smooth, almost musical sound for a few hundred rpm --> boost hits --> engine just sounds f'ing pissed off!
I take care of this damn car better than anyone in the world. I don't understand why it sounds so pissed off all the time!
Car is doing great. Taking some time off from working so much on it.
-Currently waiting on an upgraded alternator to be built and shipped
-Currently waiting on a set of custom billet coil brackets to arrive from Canada
-Currently waiting to install the above products so that Cody can make the mil-spec coil harness
In the meantime, I've been driving the car on the weekends. Everything is great apart from the minor break-up over 8k rpm, so staying under 8k for now. Need to setup the Closed Loop boost control so we can get more consistent boost and go for 15psi, but also to be easily adjustable via the 12pt switch as desired, for different drivers, road scenarios etc. This car definitely doesn't need to be driven besides in a straight line at anything over 10psi.
Nelson will be retuning the car, likely over WiFi once I can get all this stuff in and installed. Once she's tuned up at 15psi, I think that should be plenty enough power to call it quits on pump gas. The gearset is stocked now, ready and waiting just have to order it.

What sort of redline was the engine built for? 9K?
What transmission have you decided to go for in the end?
Australian straight-cut dog-ring 1-4 gearset with 3.0, 2.0, 1.34, 1.0 ratio gears and upgraded input shaft, main-shaft, and 300m output shaft, with a billet/studded pan

According to Warren, at PPRE, the engine can go to 10,500rpm. However, talking with USA based 4 rotor guys, they warn not to run that high on steel apex seals and recommend keeping it between 8500-9k to be safe. I just decided to stick the rev limiter at 9400 in the ECU, begin the soft ignition retard at 9200rpm, and shift it at 9000-9100rpm
Because of chattering due to the weight of the seals, I assume?
9,000 with a turbo rotary.... that's just nutty.
Yes, thats what they said.
It does scare me, not sure what to believe, but have been running it to 9k plenty of times, and on dyno. Seems to do just fine! Brent runs his drag car and the lexus to over 10k as well.

That sounds interesting and hopefully bomb proof. Did the costs out way the possible HGT option?
Is it in an FD casing or completely different gearbox?
Im currently ruining two of them as the flowed way more than my 044 pumps. they still pull decent current but not as much as x3 044s like you have.
problem with the gst's, they are twin turbine design and heat fuel up bigtime.
im not sure if you have checked but i found when i went from a 8mm IDbore fuel rail up to a 14mmID fuel rail my inj duty dropped 20% wich is insane!
Just a thought as your injectors will be pulling alot from the rail.
Im not on this forum much anymore but on facebook as REX Racing or Bom Bey.
installed new alternator with custom external regulator. car sits at 17 volts at idle. with all accessories on it runs 16.5. With all four fuel pumps engaged 14.8.
