Very true. There is no downside on that build. Car looks awesome, and everybody knows it's been a long journey. Enjoy your car Zach!

I truly appreciate it guys, it means so much. I apologize for my rants/frustrations in here regarding the build/parts etc. It's just frustrating at times trying to make things happen while waiting past deadlines. I want to bring you guys more content, get this thing finished, and driving on the track like its meant too.

Thanks again for keeping up.

Looks like this last email finally got their attention. Now its "Very sorry for the delay, you will have the parts in 2 weeks". Lets see what happens...

I think he's gonna need to get a professional driver's help getting it set up, though.

The power to weight ratio will be too much for mere mortals.

I think he likes building them more than driving them. He'll probably sell it and start on a 5 rotor.

Thank you guys appreciate it!

And I damn sure don't know how to drive on a track. And this thing would kill me in 2 seconds. It's scary enough driving it on the street.

But yea, I like driving, for me though I just like sounds, feeling, imagining / building. I'm hoping my track friend from Speedsouth will take me around Barbers a few laps, maybe Ill get to do some light throttle stuff for fun.

New ideas for new project in the works but have to finish this one first.

Trans should show up next week assuming we don't have customs drama. It appears AUS is free trade w/ USA so might be easier than NZ. Then off to get the gear set installed. Then take the car over for fab work for the ignition brackets so we can move the coils up to a new location and relocate the catch can. Then time to wire up the coils w/ the new harness and make dedicated ground back to the battery.

After all this, might consider moving to a stepper motor type boost controller, like the HKS boost controller. Part throttle, and early spool on this engine makes the gates flutter. Its kind of an annoying noise unless you're full WOT in power band. I've heard this is caused by wastegate opening / closing rapidly from duty cycles of a solenoid. Seems to be an issue on evo's and wrx, the flutter unless they go with stepper motor or spring pressure. It's really a non-issue but something that just bothers the OCD.

From here, time to install water injection...though I'd like to try e85. Just not sure how long fuel pressure would hold up or injector duty, considering we were teetering on the edge with 93. Though, the car now has an extra pump and pumps are getting an extra 2-3+ volts.

Only things left i can think of would be maybe upgrade to higher quality coil-overs, or step up the spring rate. And move up to a big-brake kit for the front. Then time to fly Nelson back in and re-tune for 15-18psi!

More than likely it will be undriveable on the track without big fat slicks.

It'll probably have hellacious lap times, though. It'll probably be like driving a Turbo Panzer on qualification trim...

David... button it up and bring it to SS on 11/4. The "punch list" with these cars is NEVERENDING. Myself, and others West of the Mississippi would love to see it in the flesh!! Hope you'll consider bringing her out!

Man I wish I could but the parts were so behind schedule that its not looking like I'll be able to finish in time. Waiting on transmission shop now to assemble the gear box, waiting on the sequential shifter to arrive, and waiting on another shop to fab up an ignition coil bracket. All relatively small things in grand scheme, but its almost October 1. So I assume it will be a month before the car is back on the road, and then it will need to be tuned which puts us right up on the edge. Have to see what it looks like by end of October. Maybe I can tune it in California somewhere

This stuff is beast as F*ck. Gears are double the width of the OEM

The trans pan is billet cut aluminum, supplied by Kyle Mohan and Nader at Built-to-apex. Coupled with studs, it should help to strengthen the case. I dont' see how these gears or shafts would fail, the only way would be if the outward force of the straight cut angle causes the case to warp and the gears to seperate. I'd like to do a CNC case, but I'm not sure if its overkill at this point.

Also luckily sourced a 1st generation japenese sequential drum shifter that fits the fd3s transmission. I'm to modify the handle for LHD. It comes with a gear position LED display, which means we can a copy signal to the ECU to use for ignition cut, for clutchless and flat footed upshifts. Then you'd just need to blip the throttle for downshifts. I'm going to laugh if this actually works, a sequential for under 5k And best part is you can swap back to the H pattern in 5 mins, for driving in traffic etc when you're going to need to toss back into neutral frequently

Anyhow cheers guys hopefully see you soon USA

You found an Ikeya Formula Sequenshifter that fast! It took me 4 years to find mine.

I'm thinking of pairing mine with Liberty "faceplating" service to get a cheap sequential shifter I can bang harder (you have to baby the sequenshifter with stock synchos).

Lucky7 Racing is near the SS event. Nelson is their main tuner. I'm sure he'll be at the SS event. You could probably tune either before or after the event. Saves your airfare to fly him out PLUS you get to bring your sweet ride to SS20 Just say'in

It was tricking getting it in (that's what she said) but finally making some good progress. Thanks to my friend Nick at Reliable Transmission, right outside Talladega Raceway.

Waiting on the sequential shifter from UK, and my buddies at SpeedSouth to finish the fab work on the coil bracket.

Hopefully there may be some time left! Moving at wreckless endangerment speed on this build now haha

Still need to install the water injection when i get the car back, install the transmission, and get some real brakes on the front end, and upgrade the springs to a little higher rate

Thanks gentlemen

man those gears look bigger than the ones on the T56. I think you were right all along. Best luck with the new setup and congrats!

There were fitment issues with the shaft splines and the reverse/5th gears. Had to take the gears to machine shop to have them finished up, and then luckily they slid on the shafts.

We were able to use the liberty output shaft from the blown liberty transmission, so now all shafts are upgraded material. Painted the trans pan blue. Waiting on the sequential shifter. Ordered water meth system, larger wastegate springs, and 3 port boost controller. Progress

I think this will be one of those night&day difference mods that really define the car

And this thing is WAY WAY WAY TO BADASS for a plain jane t-56 or something lame.

sequential dogbox on the street is quite possibly the second most gangster thing I've ever heard

Can't wait to hear this thing scream down the freeway!

Planning on attaching a transmission cooler? I'd probably go ahead and add a catch can to the transmission breather and possibly the differential too, if you get any oil leaks from them. One that drains back into the transmission if possible.

That transmission is going to make just as much noise as your 4 rotor

Would a 10º or 15º helix angle not reduce the axial load enough for the transmission to hold your power goals while keeping noise down?

You might have issues with the Ikeya shifter, one of the guys in Australia couldn't get enough leverage to shift a Albins dog gear set.
