Little bit of an update.

I was able to get over to the shop last night for a little bit. Bj started welding the manifold but got low on gas so he stopped. He got the whole front runner and Wastegate dumb done.

We also got some brackets made for supporting the Radiator on the bottom hoop.

I'll most likely put some type of heat resistant dampening material between the brackets and the actual radiator just to make sure the radiator doesnt get damaged...metal on metal is never good.

I was bored at work and decided to do a little rendering of the heat exchangers layout. I'm no artist....but I like to think i have quite the imagination =-)

well not to be a dick but the guy is under contract by the governement to weld on Rocket Engines, which have some of the tightest and highest regulations/tolerances... So i'm gonna go ahead and say that the weld is just fine. Thanks for the useless info though

I'm thinking i'll make some out of one of the high resistant materials online.. I like maleable stuff.. but i'll let you know as soon as I get there!!

I know its expensive but you should send the DP & exhaust Mani to Elliot and have him put the Inconnel heat shields on it... I was dicking around with my Haltech for over a hour getting my idle and what not perfect. I could still touch my exhaust with my figures and not get burnt instantly...

^ Elliot is the owner/lead fab of Turblown Engineering. They specialize in tuner cars but especially Rotary. The Inconnel isn't a cheap material but given that it's rougly a hundred bucks for a small sheet... Elliot charges a fair price to cover whatever you need covered. I think it's going to be around 500 for my exhaust mani...but my manifold is a very long long runner design =-)

^ It's a one off piece....although my fabricator may make something like it in the future (Bj's Racing Manifolds)

Update:

The past few days have been a slight blur.. but Got quite a bit of work done.

Worked on the IC end tanks. We placed the IC where we wanted to....took some measurements and made sure it would clear the frame rails and cut some alum...

Bj welded it up for me and then we cut a hole for the charge tubing
Name: IMAG1253.jpg

and mock up of the IC before we mount it in place

Size: 187.9 KB
Made some more brackets. They'll be placed on some 1/8" rubber for vibration but the mounts came out good

Mock up of final resting place and charge tube angled etc..

Once we had all the measurements where we wanted....bj welded the tabs in place. We'll use 1/8" rubber for these as well. It'll fit nice and snug and dampen the vibration...hopefully enough to prevent any type of damage.

after that BJ welded the rear manifold runner up and we were able to mock them up and re-mount the turbo to see exactly where we wanted the turbo elbow to line up to enter the IC End tank. I don't like the idea of air smashing into a wall on it's entrance... so i'll try to come up with something smooth enough to where it can enter the tank in a less violent way.
Heres where we left off... going to clock the turbo compressor counter clockwise to either 10 o'clock or 7/8ish...

and a little better angle of the radiator/IC set up. This isn't a v-mount.... I actually got the idea from the Sierra-Sierra Time attack evo. Everything will be ducted to make the set up as efficient as possible

Next...we need to make a brace for the turbo so we can help prevent the manifold from cracking. The Runners measure: Rear runner = 34", front runner = 30". Looking forward to my numbers.

Also....does anyone know just how much my motor will move using IRP mounts? I have a little over a quarter of an inch of clearance from the Strut wall and about the same clearance between one runner and the LIM.. Hoping this will be enough. Any info will be helpful!

Not much, I posted a dyno vid of my car in my build thread and you can barely see any movement, but 1/4" clearance is a bit close for my liking. You have a pic?

^ it's a little over a 1/4...but i'll get a better measurement tonight. I don't have any pics of it just yet. But i'll also be adding some heat barrier to the strut area since it's going to get HOTTT!! If i could...i'd like to do a 2.0 version of this manifold and place the turbo about 3" lower and a little more tucked in closer to the motor. I'd also like to smoothen out the runners a bit. I wanted the first bend out of the motor to be far smoother and not so abrupt. More of a flowing arc than a sudden 90. But we'll get this going and see how it performs first.

Will you be running evans coolant or a pressure cap?

Also, why are you running such small radiator hoses (-16an) stock is -24an are you not concerned with restriction at high RPM?

^ running Evans......zero pressure =-) And in no way am i worried about the restrictions at high RMP, -16 is plenty of room.
