Love the pics, I wanted to ask you if you are still well pleased with your dct? I met Neal with hotel 7 at dgrr back in April because after I get my break in miles on my new build, I'm either going with a dct or a sequential. Both aren't cheap though I think for me the sequential will be easier but much more expensive. No special ecu for the tranny, just DBW and some additional tuning for the shift cuts. The additional whine of gear noise may be a problem for my wife on day trips to the coast but that's what a stereo is for. If I go dct, I hope you don't mind me picking your brain for details and advice. My direction with my car is definitely away from a manual that will probably blow up on me eventually to something that is very linear up thru the shifts. That's the future direction for sure if owners want to stay up with the newer sports cars. I am also designing a special air over water intercooler as they are way more efficient and it gets very hot in this state.

Thanks!
It's been lots of work to get where I'm currently at but I'm really liking the DCT swap.
CANTCU(trans controller) has been a game changer for the swap. It just works unlike others.
If you go DCT and have questions, just ask away G/L with yours.

Steve

Thanks for the reply, I have many questions about the dct setup but I just got my keg back from Howard Coleman in April at dgrr, I have it back in car but I'm lacking just a few pcs from getting all back together...Turbo manifold, ecu and wiring, in the mean time I'm researching carefully all options. When I get closer to that decision, I would love to road trip over and look at your set up. I'm next door to you in MS and I come to the panhandle often with wife, kids, grand kids to the beach.

Thumbs up Polishing to match…..

Removed the UIM/TB/Elbow/DBW combo.
Ive been wanting to polish the TB/Elbow/DBW to match the UIM.

It’s not a mirror finish but came out good enough for a bit of shine.

Oh man, this hurts my fingers just looking at it. I used to polish everything, we even polished the wife's SR20DET block and head in her car. I've also done many FD setups just like this for customers and my cars, always looks amazing though, FD manifolds double as automotive art IMO. Its a slippery slope though because then you start seeing all the non-polished parts in the bay and want to do all those. I've gotten old and lazy and just ceramic or powder most things now. I'm going to have to see your car in person one of these days, we are trying to hold an FD/JDM meet at a fellow FD owner's shave ice shop over here in Lutz on a monthly or so basis and I'm in Orlando at least once a month going to Universal.

Yeah bro I hear ya… I did a bunch of polishing on my other rotaries before but the motivation isn’t there much anymore.
You can definitely go down that polishing rabbit hole.. lol

I’d like to make it out to one of those meets.
Be cool to meet up with other rotary guys… we also have a good group over here in Orlando too that yous are welcome to meet up with.

We locked in for hurricane Milton.
Hopefully we don’t get too much damage here in the Space Coast.
Be safe all in the Central Florida area

How did you make out? We got hammered here in Tampa. Luckily my cars are safe and the house is in a good spot so I don't have to worry about Flooding like some near surrounding areas. We were out of power for 4 days and many here still without power. Cell towers are even down by me so we had no communications until power came on and we could use internet.

We were very lucky!!!! Thankfully our area wasn't severely impacted by Hurrican Milton even though the eye pretty much passed over us.
I was sure we were going to get slammed, but we didn't... our power did flicker several times during the night but never went out.
My buddy in Palm Bay(about 15miles south) lost power for 2 days. Also, Cocoa Beach had a Torrado rip through and mess up Wells Fargo bank and several houses.
Glad to hear your cars are safe and you a have power back.
I'm done playing with hurricane bull$hit for this year !!

Thumbs up EFR turbo housing done !!

Finished up my buddy’s EFR turbo housing.

Before….

After…

It’s not perfectly polished and youll only see the top portion of the turbo down in the FDs engine bay.
But not too bad for a garage guy polishing
Time for beer now

Arrow DCT @14psi in Mexico

Went to Mexico again and did some hits.
H7 Rotary To DCT kit running great.
This is with CANTCU trans controller.
Im boosting 14psi in AUTO Mode DriveLogic #2.
Gotta dial in the flat shifts a little more on the Haltech R3.

Here a log of one of the runs in the video (sorry can't remember though).
Boost spike briefly between shifts... but stayed about 13-13.9psi.
I have 10% duty on the BC this is my low boost #1 setting.

Arrow 5speed to DCT to 8HP to 5speed

Small update...............

So, I went from the stock 5spd to DCT to 8HP50 back to stock 5spd.

It's been a fun year or so... I got to sample the 2 different transmission setups in the car.
That is all

There and back again - quite a journey

I was enjoying the progress it looked like you were making on the DCT - also curious, what happened?

Arrow Thoughts on DCT vs 8HP

Life changes coming later this year... relocating overseas and a stock 5spd will be easier to sell.
I don't want the car to sit in storage for a years.

Also, my 2 cents on the DCT and 8HP setups, each I ran about 14psi.
DCT - Feels raw and fastest shifts!! super fun!!
8HP - More civilized, shifts still fast, great all-around driving.
Both transmissions were being controlled by CANTCU and worked great!
I highly recommend it for someone doing these trans swaps.

So, if it's a race car or you want that race car feeling go DCT!
If it's a fun streetcar that you drive lot, then go 8HP.
