I am also switching my mid-pipe to the XR1. Not because i wasnt happy with the magnaflow but at the time the magnaflow 4” straight through was out of stock.
the magnaflow appears to be better in construction.

I think a 3inch is small even if its a straight through, nevermind being restricted to a 2-1/4. I think any of the mufflers would have had a similar outcome with such restriction.. time to do a 3.5 inch full system IMHO (4” is preferred ).

i would highly recommend an OS giken clutch. The R2CD is a great kit

Clutch? Where he's going, he doesn't need a clutch.

Well technically he will have 2

I had no problem with the magnaflow until I upped the boost. My plan is you install a boost referenced 3" dump valve after the downpipe.
That'll help with the backpressure when running higher boost levels and still be nice a quiet for normal cruising.

It's the same car but instead of 20B DCT dreams it's now just 2rotor DCT dreams… Ive had this kit for 2years now… guess I’ll put it to use

Thumbs up 8.8 Diff

Dragged the modded FD subframe out of attic for installation.
This is the Ronin X brace so you can use a Ford Explorer 8.8
I had this ready last year to swap out with the stock one but put those plans on hold to make DGRR 2023…. So now it’s going in for good.
Used POR 15 black gloss to coat the subframe and it’s a great product very durable!!
Very happy with the results.

Going in… I’ll add the control arms and hubs once the subframe is mounted in.

Stay tuned more to come

Steve

Thumbs up DBW setup ready

One step closer! This is my DBW setup.

Kinda OEMish, everything fits.

Its gutted FD TB to Greddy elbow w/BHR spacer weld on to use the RX-8 TB. Definitely not going for crazy power, this will meet my goals.
Also gotta polish everything nice again too

FYI, I had a similar setup on my REW swapped RX-8 before that setup made around 430rwhp and drove like stock and very much enjoyed that setup.

The RX8… sometimes I really miss that car

Looks amazing and clean. I love how you were able to build it to keep the strut tower bar as well even with integrating the Throttle body.

DCT time!!!!

New rear main seal came in.
I was able to install the Hotel7 DCT flywheel/sprung hub adapter now.

All installed....

Some pics of the installation above.

Next up is the Hotel7 DCT transmission to rotary engine adapter and DCT trans going in.

DCT in and ready!

Transmission is in…. Hopefully for the last time.
The plastic oil pan will get changed out with a billet pan before I fill the trans with fluid.

I might make DGRR 2024 after all

Thumbs up DGRR 2024 push

Chippin away, alittle bit closer.
Ronin 8.8 diff rear subframe and upgraded hubs with grande axles.

Also installed the custom DCT to 8.8 drive-shaft

And installed the rear spindles and upgraded Sakebomb competition rear brake kit.
I got a sweet deal on a used front and rear kit.
The kit uses the stock rear caliper with an upgrade rotor. Probably the best bolt on option and keep the rear parking brake.
I still have the fronts to install next.

Thumbs up Haltech R3

Sold my Haltech 2500 w/engine harness and upgraded to an R3 with LMS-EFI engine harness.
Gets rid of the big Haltech fuse box and Wideband CAN box for a cleaner install.

Mocking it up in place, you can see it’s bigger the 2500 but still fits fine in the factory location.

With the kick panel installed looks factory

I'm interested to know how well everything transfers over to the R3 and how much you will need to "re-tune." I know its supposed to be pretty much seamless but I have yet to see it go that smooth. I also haven't played with 2500 much but I'm liking Haltech more and more as they continue their support and keep advancing their products.

The tune shouldn't need to be touched. When I went from a Haltech 1500 to a 2500 I didn't have to touch anything.
Same for when I transitioned from Haltech Elite to NSP software. It was pretty seamless BUT when you change something there could be issues that show up.
Honestly I'll say that Haltech has been great for me! They've come a long way since E6X that I had on my REW Turbo GSL-SE
I have no complaints...... except so I'm ready for the new NSP update to come out that was talked about at PRI.
Lots of great features coming.
I'll keep ya posted.

Great seeing you again!! The 4rotor is so bad ***, congrats on getting it done.

So, my FD wasn’t ready in time so I took my sons blue R3.
Fun car but not the same experience as my FD.
Also, it doesn’t have the best tires on it… still had a blast though.

Next year is DGRR 20th year anniversary, that’s one you won’t wanna miss!
If you haven't been just go, you'll have a awesome time!

Thanks and nice. Didn't realize one of the blue R3 was your son's. We also have one but looking for white series 2 with a sun roof so let me know if you run across one for sale.

Yeah, it’s his R3, he wants to either REW swap like my white 8 or sell it and pick up an FD but he’s in the Air Force now and heading to Japan.
So now those plans are on hold and he’s not sure wants to do with his 8.

Update on my FD…..

It’s back on the ground and starting and running great.
Dialing in the DBW and idle control settings.
And finally need to drive and calibrate the speed sensor.
So close now to driving it again…. Can’t wait!

Also took the headlight cover off to inspect the tabs… glad to see it was still intact and just haven’t reinstalled it yet.
