Installed the 99 Spec Wing

I scaled the drill template to the correct size and aligned the two rear holes

For the front holes my dad made some threads that have a sharp point to mark the front two holes

Came out great

I still have to buy a new seal for the bottom of the mounts so which I will fit after the everything is painted .

Very happy to have my dad to help me finish Building the car

Nice, I'm running the same radiator.
Maintains temps with no problem even with the A/C on here in the Florida summer heat.
Only negative is the stock fans are not completely bolt in... it does take alittle modding to make them fit.
Definitely not a deal breaker though.

Nice build! I like the attention to detail. I love the inconel heat shields too. Did you trim them at all or are they still the same shapes and dimensions as on the M6?

The FEED collector box might not work with dual pumps. Which pumps are you going to use? I'm using dual Walbro 450s and that box doesn't work with mine. Just a heads up.

Also along the lines of fuel, the flex fuel sensor won't recognize water in the ethanol, and it actually reads it as a higher ethanol content. This is one of the reasons I haven't used ethanol yet haha. But Injector Dynamics makes a fuel filter that removes the water too. ID F750. ID F750 Fuel Filter - Injector Dynamics

For the AC system, I used an RX-8 condenser and modified some lines from the FD and an older Toyota Camry and it turned out pretty well I think. If you'd like to check it out...RX-8 AC condenser on FD VMIC - RX7Club.com - Mazda RX7 Forum

Keep up the good work, in between the late nights and home schooling 3 kids lol.

With regards to the heatshields that was done by the workshop so i actually have to look if they needed trimming.
I am using aeromotive Stealth pumps , if they don#t work with the FEED collector , i might go all out and buy a intank Surge tank .
Thanks for all your input , i just had a look at your thread and i like the RX8 condenser idea and might copy it . Gives me more freedom with the V-Mount intercooler as i get the dryer out of the way

Most of the CAD work done now for the RX8 DBW Pedal adapter. Still not 100% finished but getting there
Will 3D Print everything first until i am 100% happy with it . It will mount to the 2 orginal mounting points and also utilize the hole for the bowden cable as a mounting point with a spacer

Oh no worries, I was just curious if you knew. I'll see if I can find some BMWs in the salvage yard to peek at.

You should be fine with the Stealth pumps, they're not quite as fat as the 450s. And the 450s might even work, but I was worried about having less volume for fuel and emptying it too fast lol.

I had a universal condenser in there before but I wasn't happy with the way they lines were set up and I think this is a much cleaner install.

I wish I had experience with CAD, I'd love to get in there and play around lol.

Good work!

Fusion 360 is actually quite easy . I only started to teach myself 2 weeks ago. It looks intimidating at first but if it’s a non complex shape like the pedal adapter its a good exercise to start with . Never mind the screws it was just quick and dirty with what I had lying arround . Hope I can make the whole adapter out of Aluminium this week

Starting the Harness

Bought a used scrap harness on eBay that I can use as a template

Made a board so I can take some measurements for the new harness

Also did some more work in the pedal adapter . I moved the pedal a bit further down as wasn’t happy with the position . The spacers are still 3D printed and will be most probably made out of Aluminium or Polyamid later .

Incorporating a lot of ideas from other threads .
my fan motor wires where really brittle and extended which I didn’t like . Found in a thread that the facelift RX8 motors and blades fit . Bought a RX8 fan assembly for 60€ on eBay and transplanted everything into my RX7 shroud . Fits perfectly . Only need to find the female Sumitomo Terminals for the RX8 connector in Europe .

RX8 shroud for 60 Euro of eBay

Corsa Technic carries many connectors, but I don't remember which side they carry of this. I ordered it through them and they tracked it down for me and added it to their site. The other end I think I bought from Amazon.com but I think they're knockoff.

I don't remember if this is the one you need, but you can go back to 4 way connectors from this page and probably find the one you're looking for. They usually find whatever connector I'm looking for, if they don't already have it, and most of the time they do. And their connectors come with the outer shell, terminals, and seals. Everything you need but the wiring.

Thanks i know they have stock from other threads that did the swap, but they are in the US. So shippig is about 25$ just to get some sub 5 dollar terminals .I know the part number, but trying to find a source in Europe .

Yeah good point, I hadn't thought about shipping cost. I'm sure you can find something over there somewhere.

Fire Hazzard removal

Going through the interior harness I found a lot of shoddy wiring work . So I am busy tracing the wires where needed and replace them with new ones . One cable seems to have caused almost a fire already (burnt off insulation and deformed connector housing) . Just waiting for the crimp terminals and housings now . This car is the gift that keeps giving 😂😂😂

Yeah that cable burnt already

Non insulated power wire at the door sill

Another relay was powered from here

Yeh Someone needed some ignition power for their relay . It’s almost art . Just cable twisted arround , no crimp needed .

All harnesses stripped back for access

Replacing damaged wires

it is really surprising how this car didn’t burn to the ground . It’s a pain to fix all this mess and pull new wires , but I want the harness to be factory spec so doing it properly .

Holy ****. Some people should not be allowed to touch cars. Yikes. I'm glad you found all that before something really bad happened though.

While I am waiting for some connectors , I started to do some small things
dissassembled the door handles to upgrade with napol Aluminium handles .
took everything apart and ultrasonic cleaned everything . Next will be sandblasting and powder coat the door handles .

Great build. That wiring would drive me nuts. Good on you for finding all that.

Awesome getting your dad in there as well. Nothing better than that.

yeah glad my dad helps me out . The wiring is not too bad to sort out just tedious and endless waiting for connectors and terminals .

Today I sandblasted the headlight brackets , door handles , brake and clutch pedal brackets . The brake and clutch pedal brackets will just get some clear coat to prevent rust , the other items will be all powder coated in black

Slow progress

Finally got my drivers side Harness fixed up and routed again . Still waiting for one terminal to arrive to crimp the wire on the white footwell plug . But now I am confident I won’t burn to death 😂

Also received my injector adapters so can finally start with the fuel rail install . Brand new oem lines are also in now , just need to get the spacers that go between the housing and the OMP line itself
