Start of fuel filter relocation

Starting to relocate my fuel filter. I will use the holes in the rear subframe. To mount a custom plate where the fuel filter and water meth pump will be mounted. I will use the existing holes in the subframe. I didn’t want to put just a long bolt through so I made a spacer which will be bolted from the front so I have a thread in the rear.

Making a fuel filter relocation and water meth pump mount

first rough prototype that I cut with my dad out of some material that I had left over . Next step is to make it out of 5mm Aluminium and remove all the material I don’t need to make It look neater

Mounting the RX8 Condenser

My dad made me some spacers to mount a RX8 Aircon condenser with the built in dryer bottle onto my radiator. I decided to use the OEM mounting points as it’s just easier to replace should it break

Widened the OEM holes so I could insert some rubber spacers and cut off the brackets a bit so they flush with the radiator edges

Mock-up

Aluminium spacers welded onto the radiator

Test fit with the intercooler

Fuel filter and water meth pump bracket

Decided to make the top square and a little bit higher

The thread inside lets me bolt it from the back and leaves me with a nice thread that I can mount a nut on without having to hold it on the diff side to counter

Mounted without the pump and fuel filter

This is how the fuel filter and water meth pump will be mounted . Bracket will be powder coated in black to have be less visible . Eventually I will fit a better filter but running out of money and want to get the car running

Redesigning the IGN1A Bracket

Spent the last 2 days making a new mount for the IGN1A coils . I decided I wanted to mount them on the frame rails but didn’t like the available options that where out there so I designed my own . I made sure I can remove the screws of the mounting plate even when the coils are assembled onto the bracket . Another design consideration was beeing able to remove the coils without having to remove the mounting plates .This design will probably only fit RHD cars as on LHD cars probably the steering colum will be in the way . I used existing holes in the frame rail , the top one already has a thread from factory , the other two will be done with rivet nut inserts into the existing holes. This will be made from one piece of solid aluminum.

CAD design

Complete assembly

Test 3d Print to see if all the holes line up and to see if there are any clearance issues

Mock-up of the rear coils

Finally some updates

So it’s been a while and work has been hectic. Spent the weekend building the engine harness . I am almost finished with it just waiting for some more connectors to arrive

That’s how far I am now . Just need to figure out where to mount the FPR / MAP sensor / boost solenoid / oil pressure sensors

Not many updates to report. Time is my biggest issue. Designed a 3D printable bracket for the battery fuse box. That is clamped against the Fusebox on the dome. I made it free to download on thingyverse
