Honestly, I would point someone at Mazdatrix at this thread. If all the packing material that was used is as in your photos, the blame clearly lies with them. Bubble wrap would actually have been fine - if they had completely encased each item several inches thick and then stuffed the box until there was absolutely no movement/shifting of items, as was said earlier. Mazdatrix really needs to make this better.

^ they did. i took pics of how thick the padding was on the rotors.

problem is bubble wrap doesn't stop relatively shapr things (like the trigger wheel) from piercing it.

This is absolutely true. It is the way the [insurance] system is designed--they just try and wear you down with the hopes that you go away.

Case in point: I had Roadway put a fork (as in forklift) through the front of a welder I was shipping. They first tried to deny the claim because I didn't note the damage when it was received. Of course I didn't note it--they delivered it to an unauthorized person at the wrong address. Hmmm. How convenient.

I ultimately won the claim for the full amount of the damage. It took constant prodding, a number of letters over a period of 2 months, my refusal to settle for less than the full value of the loss and perseverance to achieve this result. So it is possible.

Unfortunately, in the interim, you just have to deal with it.

BTW: Some states have laws that do not permit manufacturers and providers of goods and services to limit consequential damages [usually as a result of defects or negligence]. I used this legal approach once to settle a claim with a certain camshaft manufacturer that sold me a defective valve spring retainer which broke in half, dropped the valve and destroyed an expensive engine. In most instances, you have more recourse than you may be aware of. Unfortuntely, industry in general counts on the "hassle factor" to keep individual claimants at bay.

Irregardless, it's Mazdatrix's responsibility. They've been in business long enough to know how to pack their things properly. I still say make a polite phone call to them and let them know of this thread. I personally will think twice of doing business with them until I see them make an honest effort to make things right. (on the other hand, I've only bought from them once over the last 5 years, so I'd likely strike no fear in their hearts haha) Best of luck.

This has probably been suggested 1K times but, yeah the talk to UPS idea seems right to me. Somebody has to respond to this.

I actually had a pretty good experience with a UPS claim...so they do exist. I sent a turbo via UPS ground to someone on the east coast. When he got it, he sent me pics of it. Despite some aggressive packing on my part, a nipple on the compressor housing snapped off after being dropped. It cracked the comp housing and broke the nipple.

I had to refund the buyer his money and handle it with UPS. They owned up and I got a claim check pretty quickly. Bottom line though is that I took care of my buyer despite the fact that I felt I had adequately packed it. Mazdatrix should do the same to you and hope that UPS treats them as well as they treated me.

I hope that when you're buying all those parts you're not paying the prices listed on their website for all of them

That's geared more towards engines shipped via truck, by the sound of it.

More notes about UPS claims:

as a recipient, you are entitled to very few rights within UPS's sytem. The people paying them, which was the original shipper, are the only ones they seem to care remotely about serving, even though in most cases the end consumer was ultimately charged for the shipping cost by the supplier. You can usually call and initiate a claim, but what they will tell you or do for you is limited, and no action will be taken without UPS contacting the original shipper. All claims must run through the original shipper (as far as required documentation, etc.). The claim check will be sent to the original shipper, who must then cash it and issue you a refund out of their own account or replace the parts from their own inventory.

yea...then wait another million years for them to get balanced.

i'd rather they just give me the cash and i'll find another way to deal with it--too bad that's not an option. i'd prefer to not do business with mazdatrix anymore.

there's a difference between keeping a good relationship and choosing not to use them and totally ******' it all up so i couldn't use them again if i wanted to. i'd rather it be by choice...wouldn't you?

i just don't want to burn any bridges.

Oh, I'm all for not burning bridges most of the time...but you acted as if you wanted to still frequently buy parts from them even after this occurance, which is why I thought it odd.
