worst come to worst, i'll toss in the 3mm fd rotors i have unbalanced and all...they'll work--i just wanted the high compression for the low end.

There is no calculus involved in packaging an item like that. Mazdatrix has no excuse for what had happened.

Sorry to hear about the bad luck man. Mazdatrix should have packaged it better but anyways, i hope you get all the problems worked out. And hopefully, in time for seven stock. Good luck man.

My experience says it all depends. When I lived in Delaware and Harrisburg, UPS was by far the easiest to deal with. I moved to the west side of Harrisburg, and UPS became a bugger and Fedex is now the best by far.

We get quite a bit of stuff shipped to my place of work by UPS. If a package weighs more than 15 or 20 lb, it will likely come in looking like a crumbled cardboard basketball (no corners distinguishable on the box) with stuff sticking out.

GUITARJUNKIE,

When I got my side housings back from Mazdatrix, the box looked like it had been through a war. They had one of those "If there is something damaged, call us" stickers on it as well. Luckily, Mazdatrix had put each side housing within an individual box inside the larger box which added additional protection so nothing was damaged.

I wonder if UPS just has it in for Mazdatrix?

I was told if 4in of each side of bubble wrap was not used...UPS won't pay up. I got twins from Pettit with the primary sticking out the side of the box. WTF was Pettit thinking?

man, that sounds like a cool project...best of luck.

the pic where the rotors are in the box unwrapped is just to illustrate their general positions inside the box.

Wow. They should have shipped each item separately. That's alot of weight being tossed around.

It looks to me like more of a packaging issue than a problem with UPS. From what I can see of the box, it looks intact. You should be complaining to mazdatrix, in my opinion.

Agreed, that positioning of parts is a little ridiculous, what were they expecting?

My, my. That does look like quite poor packing, and I've been packing and shipping stuff for years now. This isn't looking good for you, and here are some reasons why:

-UPS will deny the claim due to insufficient padding
-UPS will deny the claim because the outside packaging is in good condition
-even if UPS did honor your claim, odds are m'trix didn't opt for the extra insurance, so $100 is your maximum benefit in that scenario
-UPS insurance is quite slow, and is geared to require multiple phone calls, documents, faxes, etc. in an effort to get you to forget the claim
-UPS insurance ONLY covers the actual shipping cost plus the actual value of the goods being shipped, and they require documentation (invoices) to support those claims.
-UPS insurance will take 1-2 months to process and refund your claim, in the event they follow through.
-UPS insurance claim decisions are based upon the OPINION of one person, whoever they send to check it out, and you as a customer have no right to question this person's knowledge or opinion.

Good luck with that. IF it were me, I'd be getting out the file. You can have the thing built and installed by the time you get your first phone call about it.

They should have wrapped the items individually, then stuffed the box full of packing material. There's no way it would have gotten damage that way. If you loose pack stuff, the pieces can fly around in the box and hit each other or hit the walls of the box.

BTW a friend of mine used to work for UPS packing trucks. He said the morale of the workers was so low and the job was so shitty, that they don't even give a f*ck about any of the items. Its exactly like that "ace ventura" part with jim carrey.

That doesnt make much sense. I dont know about a nationwide level, but around here, UPS pays quite well. It makes no sense why they'd pay their workers well with great benefits (from what I've heard) and accept a shitty performance from them. In most jobs that'll get you fired...there's always ************* looking for a job.

ive sent shortblocks in boxes with ups, never had any problems with them cause i always packaged the hell out of everything.

as far as the other companys go:

the fedex drivers ive had always bitch about everything including weight of packages. They also have a tendency to send stuff to the wrong place more often then not.

usps loses every other package

and Dhl uses non company drivers (as in temp) I had one deliver the top of a engine crate (just the label) and leave. We spend a month finding this 7,500 block and finally when the guy delivered it he wouldent wait around for us to inspect it. My boss told him to wait a minute and the guy ran out to his truck and took off down our ramp (hitting the side as he tore off)

If your shipping something valueable, insure it, and make sure its boxed well enough that you could jump on it.

ups > the other guys.

The issue is not with shipper (ups) but with seller (mazdatrix), you inform ups of damage, but shipper should make good .. you bought a product delivered to you, they picked the shipping company to get a product to your door. If they insured it good luck for them they can take it up with ups, if not or insurance doesn't cover value .. tehy need to make good. seller need to sell EXWorks to remove their obligation of getting it to you in one piece.
