Testing my OEM fans per FSM... They do not turn on for low-speed

So... first of all my car has been running great with the power fc tuned for the fans to turn at 88 degrees. I have not had any problems with overheating or the like. I decided to do this testing since I noticed a lot of corrosion around the motors. I have attached a pic describing the problem. It seems like the fans run fine at medium and high speed (even though is very hard for me to tell the difference between both) i did not use a switch as per fsm i just spliced the cable. I used a 17lb braille battery that had been sitting for 3 weeks but had 12.3volts as tested.

Can anyone tell me how to test the low speed on the fans... when i did it as per FSM the right motor did a click click click but wouldnt turn then the left motor did nothing. I also would like to know why my current numbers are so low compared to the ranges specified. I used a multimeter from harbor freight and set it at 20m DCA with the red lead on the highest point = 10ADC = 10A max.

Alex

Thank YOu everyone

Hi Alex,
I'm sure there are lots and lots of threads about the fan setup because folks like to add on switches etc.... and have been doing it for years.

If you turn the AC on the fans should immediately come on at low speed if they don't you likely need a new relay or have a wiring problem to that low speed relay.

If you need any relays etc... let me know

I had some fan issues myself not to long ago, this is what I did.remove the end of the connection with the relays on it where it connects to the harness in the engine bay... Remove any sleeved wires , I know you said you cleaned them but physically grab the base of the connection and move side to side, the wires should flex without any crunch sound or feel,or any discoloration.a burnt up wire will give if not a weak flow of power.might even have to replace the pins if they are damaged at the connection point...... As of now according to my pfc I have yet to see anything past 92 degrees . Even when the car is shut off and the temp still rises bit my fans kick on for just about ten min.just my 2 cents. If still a no go, inspect the fans ...clicking at the relay is one thing clicking at the fans, I'd replace them. Good luck
